In Chicago, there’s this restaurant that I absolutely love called The Handlebar. It’s this kinda divey vegan/vegetarian pub that’s bicycle themed which could not be more up my alley. And they have this sandwich that’s a vegan Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich made out of mushrooms instead of chicken. And it’s my actual favorite food of all time. The house coleslaw is the exact right amount of tangy and creamy. And don’t even get me started on that sauce. The wet-dry cayenne kick that stains the bread with the fluorescent red you want from a Nashville. When it hits with the slight kick – not overly hot but enough for you to know it’s there. I love it.
Are you hungry yet? Are you imagining your own favorite food right now? Good. Because this episode is a food episode. The new Anthony Bourdain biopic called Tony is out, and we’re getting our butts in the kitchen to see what’s cooking.
And after our firsthand look into Anthony’s kitchen, Ryan and I got to thinking about how many chefs there are in film, and we decided to cover our Top 3 Favorite Movie Chefs. And these are the pros here guys – none of the amateurs here y’all.
Plus, we’re just wetting your pallets guys, because we have two more reviews for some streamers that you could literally watch right actual now in real life. Get this: Ryan caught up with The Dink, the pickle ball comedy, as well as The Devil’s Mouth – which might win the award for best name for a shark movie ever.

It’s just a major movie and I’m sure everybody at work has been talking about it.

This. Is. BIG. Epic – no less. We’re covering what is arguably the largest movie of the year, none other than Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster, The Odyssey. The film stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and many, MANY more. It’s adapted from the Greek epic from centuries ago. And it’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year!
To cover a moment this massive, we had to get a massive critic as our guest. And who’s more colossal of a critic than the Managing Editor over at Roger Ebert? That’s right everybody, we went there and we invited on Brian Tallerico on as a guest critic this week, a whopping 5 months early this year!

In honor of Toy Story 5, I, KP Fujiwara, thought it would be fun if I wrote the strangest thing I could think of as this episode’s post intro. When ya’ grow up, you don’t really have toys to play with anymore, so you have to learn to make your own fun sometimes. And that’s what I did. Was it strange for you??? I think it waaaaas.
Anyways, Toy Story 5 came out, and Ryan and I caught it! We have a review for you guys coming your way and we also sat ourselves down and figured out our top 5 favorite Pixar characters. And we didn’t do that alone either.
Ryan Oestreich, the GM at The Music Box theater is back on the show with big BIG news! Our favorite theater is getting a major upgrade that we discuss in this episode. Plus, Ryan (Oestreich) is sticking around with us the whole time and givers us a few of his most memorable movie theater experiences too.
This week is like a big old celebration of movies and toys. When it’s typed out like that it sounds weird, but I promise it’s fun. Plus, a lot of things are weird when they’re spelled out before us but are ultimately acceptable. This entire post proves that point and I will die on that hill.

Jaw heads, there are many mornings just like this one where I wake and I step outside. And what ends up happening is, I take a deep breath and then I’ll step outside. Then, like, bloody murder, I’ll scream from the top of my lungs: “Hey! What’s going on with that new He-Man movie???”
It happens all the time, and I’m truthfully not entirely sure why. But there it is. And let me tell ya’ – I’ve stumbled upon the remedy for that little problem of mine. It’s listening to this episode of CinemaJaw. Because, believe it or not, we got out to see Master of the Universe and we were ALL excited to talk about it; including our guest, our friend, and our fan favorite critic: Cati Glidewell. That’s right The Blonde In Front herself is with us to talk about a movie based upon a cartoon from the 80s.
Plus, we always love having Cati on to do our top lists, in case it wasn’t obvious from her previous appearances, so we decided to bring one more top list her way to talk about the top 3 campy movies. Now, what constitutes a “campy” movie is… a little ambiguous and we talk about that. The last thing we want is another repeat of emo-gate 2024 after all. And Cati helps us tackle the important issues like this one.
Oh – and one more thing – We also got out to catch the new Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas flick: Power Ballad. It’s from director John Carney and is called “Power Ballad” so in case it wasn’t obvious, we’ve got a movie about music out in theaters.

Because, for the first time in what feels like forever, we have a new Star Wars movie. It is officially that time: The Mandalorian and Grogu is OUT. Ryan and I caught it, as well as our good friend, Jeff York. So, after our screening, we invited Jeff onto the show to pitch in his review for the new Mando movie.
Plus, it’s kind of a big deal when a new Star Wars movie comes out, so we’re not leaving it there guys. This doesn’t happen often. There are – all things considered – not that many Star Wars movies. So we’re going to turn this review into a Star Wars Special; the first Star Wars special since Rogue One, no less. And we’re talking our Top 5 Star Wars Scenes.

I have absolutely no idea how old you are as a listener. For all I know, you – the Jaw head reading this – are 83 years old. Or maybe you’re 19. I really have no clue. All I will say is this:
To the 20-something that needs to hear this… no – it doesn’t get any better than this. You’re gonna look around and think to yourself: “this isn’t what they promised me adulthood would be like at all; this timeline sucks balls dude what the hell.”
Feeling better? Good, because that’s the EXACT kind of headspace we go into this week during our Top 5 Post-Grad movies! A list we came up with inspired by our guest Zach Schnitzer and his feature film Loafers. We discuss his film, which is about a group of young adults who just finish school, his experience playing at the Music Box Theater for the Chicago Critics Film Fest, and what’s next in the pipeline.
PLUS – we also have a review of the newest in a whole slew of YouTube Horror movies, this one’s titled: Obsession. And would you believe me if I told you we also prepped a capsule review of The Wizard of the Kremlin for you as well.

CinemaJaw recently got acquired by new owners, and Ryan and I have been working for the actual devil. His name is Lucifer S. Atan and he keeps talking about his last startup called the Prince of Darkness LLC.
Ryan and I are desperate for relief from the new CEO, so we’ve been blowing off steam where ever we can. And we’re in luck this week because we got a review of a comedy film about a terrible boss! We’ve got the legacy sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, to talk about this week.
And we’re not doing this alone either!! It helps to have friends around the CinemaJaw offices during times like these, and we have Michael Glover Smith and Elizabeth Stam on the show to talk about their new movie Hekla! MGS directed. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful spring in Chicago and Ryan and I have a NEED FOR SPEED!!! And, yes, that is a movie pun because we’re talking about Keanu Reeve’s 1994 masterpiece Speed!! To start our spring off, we’re kicking it to you all with a retro review complete with Homer J. Simpson first ever CinemaJaw appearance.
And if you think watching 30-year-old movies is the only way we’re welcoming in the fairest of the seasons, then you are dead wrong! We’re also coming in hot and heavy with our annual Summer Movie Preview episode, which for a stacked year like 2026, that was no easy task to do.
Plus, we’ve got two more reviews coming out at ya! Ryan got out and checked out Mother Mary – Anne Hathaway’s new flick about… well… that’s confusing to say. Let’s just say it’s about a pop star, and the music and visuals are truly something to behold. I don’t know where the hell you all live, but here in Chicago, spring has officially sprung!! And that’s bad ass for me personally. Not only because I am a fair weather fan in the most literal sense, but also because that means it’s festival season babyyyyy!!!!
And, like always, we start the Chicago festival season off right with the Chicago Critics Film Festival at the ICONIC Music Box theater. It’s a great fest with an ever-amazing lineup, and just like every year, we’ve got the organizer and fellow critic Erik Childress to come on and chat with us! We’re getting the hot takes on what to look out for and get most excited about for the upcoming fest!
We’ve also got something of a review-o-rama on our hands. Anything over 2 reviews is officially classified, and boy howdy do we have more than two! We’re doing Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (yes that is the actual title and yes we will discuss that). We also have the new Bob Odenkirk action flick Nobody!!… or wait… Nobody 2!!!… hang on… I’m checking the notes and it looks like it’s actually called Normal. Either way, we’re reviewing it. And for our final review, this one’s gotta have a stellar title. Or, honestly, I’ll take a title that’s just unoffensive to my sensibilities. And hey, would you look at that; it is! The last one is Keanu’s new diet to streaming movie: Outcome!

Alrighty everybody, listen – we know the Oscars just happened for y’all and we will get to it next week I promise. To tide everybody over before we can get to recording our thoughts and feelings, we’ve got a good one for you all! It’s another Review-O-Rama for us, which – for Q1 – is pretty impressive. We’ve got things to say about the new podcast horror flick Undertone. That genre didn’t exist before now so think about how exciting that fact is kiddos.
We also caught Netflix’s newest #1 – War Machine. And, in case you were wondering if CinemaJaw’s changed in the slightest, you better believe we haven’t. We DO talk about direct to streaming movies vs movies that get theatrical releases.
And, to take us home, we finish the show with Dolly – our last review. It’s a horror movie starring none other than Seann William Scott… Stifler is back in the movies baybeeeee.
Some other things are trivia, it’s another Stump the Kubinski week which we know you love. And even a capsule review for Project Hail Mary as sort of a preview for what’s to come next week.

This episode is a graveyard smash you guys; we’re reviewing The Bride by Maggie Gyllenhaal. That’s all I’ve got on for this one. I’m a day late, and I still cannot think of a better introduction than a Monster Mash reference.
BUT – there’s more to a write up than just the intro. Just like how there’s more to this episode than just The Bride! We are full on in Review-O-Rama mode because we have two other reviews coming at ya. The first is the new Paul McCartney documentary: Man on the Run. The other review is for what I will say is certainly a horror movie in February: Scream 7.
Plus – we play our new favorite game Roll Film! Guys, we love this game. We’ve heard back from some of you that you do too, and that makes me really REALLY happy.

That’s taken directly from my CinemaJaw/Captain Planet crossover fanfic. And lemme tell ya dude, I so wish they remade Captain Planet to include Matt, Ryan and I. We’re probably never going to have that happen (at least canonically). But we CAN have an episode of CinemaJaw about the environment!
That’s right, I’ve done it again: I made a cringe write up for the show description that has very little to do with the show’s content. And the tie in this time is HOPPERS.
We all reviewed the new Pixar movie Hoppers, which is about saving and protecting the environment… and beavers. And, given this premise, we decided to do a top 5 on “Eco-Friendly” movies. Think all things environment. We’re going green you guys.

Don’t even lie to me Jawheads – if you’re over 28, you’ve had an emotional collapse that lead you to do things you would have never done otherwise. DON’T even lie TO ME. I’ve had, like, 7 by now. And what better way is there to forgive yourself for the last time you crashed out than to watch a movie that involves somebody else crashing out!
And let me tell ya, we’ve got a good recommendation for ya: For Worse – the new film written by, directed by, and starring Amy Landecker. She plays a mom that joins an acting class after getting a divorce, and it’s full of laughs and charm. We also have a special peak behind the curtain on this one, because we got the chance to interview Amy herself! That’s right, the auteur behind For Worse is with us in this episode you guys. This is NOT a DRILL.
But that’s not all this week. Would you believe it that we even had the time to cram in a Review-O-Rama? We’ve got 3 reviews coming at ya’ this week. Glen Powell’s back and beautiful in How To Make a Killing, about an ultra rich family being the absolute worst people (shocker). So Glen goes on a revenge spree killing said ultra rich family. We also have the return of Sam Rockwell with Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. A cheeky little flick that I can only describe as “Groundhog’s Day except there’s an urgent and pressing crisis that requires prudent action… and Sam -goddamn- Rockwell.” And finally, we top our Review-O-Rama off with the best of the best out of our neighbors to the north with: Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie. Yes… that is the title. We go over it and it makes more sense than it seems I PROMISE.
This episode is bonkers dude. There’s so much going on in it and all of it is good. I had an ear-to-ear grin the whole show and I just know you all will too.

Roll for initiative Jawheads! We’ve got a new game this week that we’re excited to play on the show. And don’t worry – it is related to our movies! We’re calling it “Roll Film” and it’s a level up from the format we would use when we pulled director drafts. We’ll explain it on the show, but it’s a good time that we know you’re going to like!
And, what a good week to introduce our fun little new game,. We’ve got a lot of things to pull our drafts from with our REVIEW-O-RAMA and a lot of Hollywood stars. And for our Review-O-Rama, we start off with a big one: Sam Raimi. He’s got a new film called Send Help coming out about two coworkers that end up stranded on an island together. We also tap into the new documentary Secret Mall Apartment which is about… well… a secret apartment in a mall. We also checked in with Crime 101 with none other than the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo. And, to close things out, we even checked out Whistle – a horror film where blowing the whistle… could get ya got my friends.

Top 5: Dumb, But Fun Action Movies

I wrote a lot for this week’s episode description, but I quickly realized it was all plagiarized from what I wrote on the Top 5 Badasses episode. It had similar jokes about action movies as what I originally wrote. Something about walking in slow motion with an explosion in the background is where my mind oft goes.
But that’s because it’s f***ing cool!!! And you know what else is f***ing cool? Our Top 5 this week, the Top 5 Dumb, But Fun Action Movies. We’re talking guns. We’re talking car chases. We’re talking people more physically fit than I will ever be beating the stuffing out of each other. And you better believe we’re having a real fun time talking about it.
And that’s because we reviewed The Wrecking Crew this week. The newest entry in dumb but fun classics. It stars Jason Momoa, and Dave Bautista, is set in Hawaii, and has a lot of wonton violence.
We’ve also got a briefer review for you all at the backend. Ryan caught Shelter, the new Jason Statham flick – and with a star like Statham behind it, you know it’s another dumb action flick… and we love that.

I am 7 pounds heavier. My bank account is remarkably low after winning a death match over a TV. And I think my family might never get together again. So it’s been the typical American family’s Thanksgiving Jawheads.
And if you guys weren’t full enough already – lemme tell ya, Matt and Ryan overcooked this one. We’ve got a special Review-O-Rama with FOUR dip-dang reviews this week!
We start with the animated art-house flick Arco. A little peak into the afterlife with Eternity, a rom com staring Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen, comes up next. Matt caught up with the 2011 Conan The Barbarian movie (as a reference to that trivia a few weeks back) – and that’s… real life. Like I’m not kidding we went there and it’s spicy. Lastly, we take it all home with Brenden Fraser’s Rental Family… (Like, the new movie he’s in titled: Rental Family… Not his own personal family that he happens to rent. I don’t know anything about Brenden Fraser’s family and don’t want to be sued for defamation and libel).
It’s a big one guys. And Ryan’s drunk on champagne. Matt’s crying and arguing with his brother. It’s a simpler time before we knew this was exhausting. And we all love you.

And, we even have ourselves a new theme! It’s a new month, and we had to do somebody totally… badass (obviously). So we went with Cynthia Erivo: absolute legend they are.

We’re doing it in honor of Guillermo Del Toro’s new Frankenstein flick. This one’s supposed to be **book-accurate** too, whatever that means!
Plus, since we’re already knee deep in books, we’re going with our top 5 classic literature adaptations. Bring out your Harper Lee, okay guys. Show me some Ray Bradbury, but don’t let him smuggle in matches again. And Oscar Wilde? Yeah – him and that painting of his are invited too. Except none of those people nor books show up in this episode because that would be spoilers.

…And… after breathing deeply in and out of a paper bag a few times, I decided the Tron: Ares episode of CinemaJaw just isn’t worth the existential crisis. It’s a movie. It’s got Jared Leto and the music was made by Nine Inch Nails. And we reviewed it y’all.
Plus, there’s that proverbial saying (I believe it’s Belgian, but correct me if I’m wrong): “Nobody can frown when there’s a frog in the room.” And lucky us, we’ve got Ali from the reptile den BACK in ACTION!!
Ali always does us right by bringing some cool animals to the studio, and while we’re promoting Frogs at the Music Box of Horrors later this month, you know Ali’s Reptile Den came through with a frog.
Robots. Frogs. A second review of Roofman. 3 top 5 Ecological Horror lists. And even a little bit of trivia – if you can believe it. This is a good one guys.

We can always tell when KP wrote the show notes. She’s got her own writing style; her own voice. We always can tell. For example – I know you called that this was a KP-written post!
And… get used to that this episode. If you’re not a KP fan… listen, I get it. I don’t like her more than half of the time either. But this one is a big one! This one is our Top 5 Animated Films of the new millennium. And KP, as the show’s resident animator, needed a week to crack her knuckles and have somebody hold her beer.
It’s not just cartoons and fun times though. Absolutely not. This is a serious show; we have some serious segments. Like Ryan’s review of The Lost Bus starring Matthew “Town Car” McConaughey. Nothing could be more serious you guys. NOTHING.

…what’s that?.. No? You’re not??
Oh. Okay. Well… are you ready to jaw about the movies? Because that is something that we can do too. And, just like I transformed from being a small Japanese woman editing podcasts into a ring announcer just now, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson no less, transforms into a completely new person in his new flick The Smashing Machine.
None of us here at CinemaJaw are big MMA fans, so we didn’t know what to expect from The Rock, but with Benny Safdi directing, Matt and Ry couldn’t resist heading off to the screening, and coming right to the studio to record their reviews.
And seriously JawHeads, if you haven’t seen the trailer for The Smashing Machine, check out The Rock. He looks like a completely different person! It’s always the same with that CinemaJaw gang. One episode after another. It never stops!! Thankfully, filmmakers like Paul Thomas Anderson keeps supplying with content so at least things never get old.
And that leads me RIGHT into our main review this week – One Battle After Another. It stars Leo DiCaprio and, the one and only Benicia Del Toro. The best episode of the month is always the one where we talk about the theme!
We also have a big BIG forecast into the ass end of 2025’s film catalogue as we do our Fall Movie Preview. As usual, Matt brings in his 5 most anticipated movies closing out the year, and Ryan will hit us with his top 5 films he caught at TIFF. Which, while I’m on that note, we should mention you’re also going to get a brief low-down on TIFF festivities now that Ryan is back!!!
We also have two more mini reviews for you guys this week. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – which we confirmed has nothing to do with the current American socio-political and legislative climate. It’s a movie about going through magical doors! And there’s also the new film Him produced by Jordan Peele.

Picture this: The date is September 1st… You’re feeling good about summer and hoping to cling to the last few weeks of sunshine and flowers. Nothing is going to stop you from embracing the season of summer. You walk into your local big box store to buy lightbulbs when… HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS!!!
Yes – it is officially that time. And honestly, it’s a little later this year than usual it seems. But we all love ourselves some Halloween Season vibes, so Hollywood is delivering! We’ve got a big horror review this week in The Conjuring: Last Right! The Warrens are back at it and so is Ry the Movie Guy with a review.
After that, Ryan passes the ball over to Matt K to review one of the most Matt K films of the year: The Toxic Avenger. This Troma classic remake has had a bonkers release cycle – and Matt K has rose to the task of unpacking this flick.
Then, if that wasn’t enough, we’re going full review-o-rama with A THIRD REVIEW. Ryan checked out a new comedy called Splitsville. It stars Dakota Johnson, and is about ethical non-monogamy. If that doesn’t do something for ya… then I don’t know if I can help you.

I’m not gonna lie Jawheads, sometimes I struggle to write these. For as much as they can be diary entries that express thoughts and feelings at the forefront of my mind at times, finding a way to articulate what’s at the front of a mind gone mad is hard.
So what happens is I end up writing and erasing and re-writing and re-erasing – as many times as I need to. And I continuously remake the show notes until I have something that I am actually willing to publish on the internet.
Aaaaaaand isn’t that JUST like Hollywood!?!?!?
I mean, how many times have we seen A Star is Born? And yet the keep making them anyways. And are any of these remakes even on par with the originals they’re paying “respects” to??
Well, this is exactly what they boys try to figure out in the top 3 list this week with their Top 3 “On Par” remakes! These aren’t the ones that go above and beyond. These aren’t the ones that really under-deliver. These are the ones that absolutely nail it. That’s what we’re talking about this week baby!!
And we’re doing that because of one of the reviews we have this week. Matt and Ryan went out and caught The Roses, which for those uninitiated, is a remake of the Danny DeVito film from the 80s: War of the Roses.
Plus, we’re getting an extra review in the from of of Honey Don’t. And we’re taking things home with a quick little round of “Rose” movie trivia.

Is it morning already??? Sorry Jawheads. I’ve been over sleeping lately these days. I’m stressed out. My car got stolen. Then the new car I bought to replace it got rear-ended in a hit and run. And after that my house got broken into and my stuff got burglarized. I’ve been under a lot of pressure and I think I just need… A VACATION!!!!
That’s right baby – we’re talking about Vacation movies this week on CinemaJaw!! Yet again, I have lured your interests by opening with an overly-personal plea for sympathy that was actually about setting up for the episode description!!
To get in the spirit of vacation, Matt and Ryan picked out their top 5 favorite Vacation movies!! As well as, both our sweet boys from heaven have a review of the new Dad-Action flick Nobody 2 (that’s a new genre name I am trying to coin. This post is published and dated, so we know who said it first is all I”m saying).
And, because none of us on this podcast team are capable of rest nor chill, we went one step even farther Jawheads. We made one more absolutely coo-coo bananas topic this week. We’ve got another review! Ryan got out and checked out the record-breaking Chinese Animated film, Ne Zha 2.
This episode is the perfect time to relax, unwind, and silently seethe while you convince yourself time out of the office is going to solve the theft of your property, the destruction of your replacement property, and the anxiety of your home being susceptible to crime at any moment in time without you knowing or having control.

At the ripe age of 31, I realized the worst part of my aging process has been feeling tired. I just constantly feel like I have no energy. It’s the worst.
And, I know, a great amount of this has to do with my own life choices. I smoke like a chimney. My diet is horrible. And I perpetually over-extend myself beyond my limits with personal and career commitments as a means of distracting myself from my intense loneliness, social disconnection, and fear of abandonment.
BUT – none of those choices are actually what make me tired. Not a chance. I’m not changing things within my control and you can’t make me. What the REAL PROBLEM is: is that THE MOVIES JUST KEEP COMING BABYYYYYY!!
That’s right, this was an elaborate and unnecessarily vulnerable setup for a REVIEW-O-RAMA!!!
We’ve got 4 big ones this week, and lemme tell ya, they cover a broad spectrum of genres! We start off with the new Ari Aster political western flick Eddington. Then we HARD pivot to Dreamworks’ follow up to one of their sleeper successes with The Bad Guys 2. After coming back from our break, like the glue that keeps this podcast together, we glom onto our review of the new Dave Franco and Alison Brie body horror film Together. And to close things off, we finish out with the legacy sequel nobody asked for and we were all kinda glad to get anyways: Happy. Gilmore. 2.
I’m not above spoiling this little tid bit – we’re positive on all of them. If you’re on the fence with any or unsure if you actually want to commit to the one you’ve been thinking about – listen to this episode!

That’s not true. I made that up. I’ve never heard somebody say that before in my life. What I have heard somebody say before is “The Fantastic Four are awesome.” Luckily for us, the whole CinemaJaw crew got the opportunity to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps and all three of of those jag bags came prepared with their reviews!
And if hearing 3 podcasters bickering like a dysfunctional family over a movie about 4 super heroes bickering like a dysfunctional family isn’t your jam, I hope you like 2 podcasters bickering like a dysfunctional family over the best movies in the MCU. As crazy as it sounds – we skipped Top 5 lists this week and instead decided to rank the ENTIRE MCU. Not just some. Not just the bests. THE ENTIRE THING. This is huge.

Last summer, I moved into a new apartment. I attended one of my friend’s weddings. My second niece was born. I started a job that I hated, I bought a new BMX bike, and I started taking estrogen. And that’s just about what I did last summer. And now… you all know what I did last summer.
What you don’t know, dearest Jawhead, is that **I** know what **YOU** did last summer!!!…
…You listened to a lot of CinemaJaw! And who could have guessed then that a whole year later we would be talking about an I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot!? (I would have guessed we would all be millionaires and we would stop feeling like we have nothing to show for ourselves and we would have forgiven ourselves for every time we perceived we’ve failed ourselves and our loved ones and we would never feel existentially lost, alone and scared ever again… but there’s always next summer for that right?..)
And in honor of my life getting a reboot by next summer… I mean… in honor of the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, Matt and Ryan listed their Top 5 Movie Reboots! Some might say the nostalgia market is bloating the market with unoriginal ideas and at CinemaJaw we say: “YOU’RE GODDAMN RIGHT!!” We’re going all in on the ideas we’ve seen 1,000 times!
And that’s not all! We also played some ICONIC Stump the Kubinski this week – Fishermen Movie Trivia. Yeah, it’s a weird one. But those are also the fun ones.

We all saw How to Train Your Dragon though so there’s that! While I’m obviously partial as a member of the podcast, I do think this particular review raises some fun conversation around these live-action remakes as Matt, Ryan, and KP all share their thoughts on Dreamworks’ first entry in the live-action remake ring.

Allow me to take you on a journey Jaw Heads. Visualize in your mind’s eye: you go to a second-hand record store. You rifle through the bargain bin and find a press of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, abridged of course to fit onto one disc. You purchase that record, go home and put it on. You start to think of CinemaJaw as this wax recording of the iconic ballet spins.
It’s natural to think of CinemaJaw during these moments because for the 704th episode – we’re talking about BALLERINA – a SPIN off of John Wick.
Okay, that intro was a stretch, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that we are Ana De ARMED and ready to review this action-packed spin off staring none other than… Ana De Armas.
And, you know what, the spinning off doesn’t stop there. The top 5s this week are the best movie spin offs, which is no easy feat. But Matt and Ryan find the worth-while watches nonetheless and – without spoiling anything – this top list has some of the best discussion (or arguing) we’ve put out all year.
That’s not all though, Ryan also got out to the new Wes Anderson film: The Phoenician Scheme. He also put Matt to the test on Ana De Armas trivia and we get to see if our boy, our Kubinski – is stumped.

Jawheads, as far as fans go… you’re the *BEST* around. And nothing’s gonna ever bring you down. And if anything ever *did* bring you down, CinemaJaw would be there to pick you back up onto your feet as though we were picking up wayward fruit flies with our chopsticks.
And with an intro like that, I am sure you all know what I’m getting at with our review this week – and you are absolutely correct. I can confirm we are reviewing Bring Her Back – the new horror flick by Danny and Michael Philippou of Talk To Me fame. I know. I know. You all are wondering if this film is going to hold up to its legacy and if it’s even worth it to show up in your prom night shower cosplay. And you’re going to have to listen to the second review find out!
Oh yeah… and we also did a review in the first half for a movie called… uh… The Karate Kid: Legends. Something like that. I guess some dudes named Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan are in it. I guess that’s kind of our “main” review this week if I’m reading the notes I have right.

At the time of writing this, I’m having a dilemma Jaw Heads. So get this – in this episode, Matt and Ryan review the new Tim Robinson movie Friendship. They go over their top 5 comedy films of the new millennium. It’s an episode all about the laughs, ya know?
Here’s where the problem comes in: I have absolutely no idea how to write this post description. You guys know me. People always are saying “KP’s such a hyuckster”. “She’s so funny”. As flattering as that is, I’m truly just a buffoon. What’s more, a buffoon who knows her own reputation and the expectations of humor that come alongside it. And I do not know how the hell to write something comedic… about… comedy.
What I *DO* know how to write – is low-effort conversational segues. And that brings me to my next point: Ryan also got out to check Final Destination Bloodlines – and this is a surprisingly awesome listen. I know what you’re thinking: “It’s a Final Destination movie… What can Ryan really have to say about it?” And just trust me on this one. I felt the same way too until I heard it.
JUST LIKE how I ALSO felt like we wouldn’t be doing Paul Rudd Stump the Kubinski until I heard it (okay, that one wasn’t just low-effort, it was flagrantly untrue; I knew we were doing that).
Those reviews. That top 5. And This Trivia!! It’s one for the books. I’m dead serious. Zero percent joking about this one guys. Nothing funny to comment because I am too much of a buffoon to even make a make a joke about this episode.

Also – it wouldn’t be CinemaJaw if we didn’t have a review! This week, Matt and Ryan got out and saw Clown in a Cornfield – a new horror comedy flick about… a clown… in a cornfield… It’s only dawning on me now how this title ties in.

Smell ya’ later April!! CinemaJaw is back and we are BACK with the last episode of Laurence Fishburne Month! We loved having him, and lemme tell ya’ – we closed this party with a bang!
First and foremost – we have a review of the new Willem DaFoe vehicle: The Legend of Ochi! Matt and Ryan came straight from the theater to record this one, and we know you’re gonna love it.
THEN – there’s more (there’s always more… you know this by now…)! We also do the Summer Movie Preview!! It is officially that time of year! May starts this week and Marvel’s The Thunderbolts is dropping so very soon. So the boys figured: Time to chart out the most anticipated flicks for the summer!
As if that wasn’t enough – we also are going to do our man of the hour (or month) Laurence Fishburne right! We would be remiss not to discuss The Amateur – the whole reason it’s Larry F. Month in the first place. This review may be a bite-sized assessment… but I can guarantee you that you will like Ryan’s closing line.

I’m gonna level with you Jawheads… this is the most violent, bloody, and (frankly) undigestible episode of CinemaJaw ever: The Minecraft episode.
That’s right, we’re punching trees into oblivion this week, and that’s just getting started as Matt K and KP review Jack Black’s new A Minecraft Movie.
Speaking of the Jackster, Matt and Ryan thought this would be the perfect time to discuss their top 5 Jack Black movies! Spoiler alert – no, Be Kind Rewind does not make it and KP have a stern talking with the boys after recording. This injustice has not gone unnoticed.

Spring has sprung and we couldn’t be happier at CinemaJaw! And to show our appreciation, before stepping back for Spring Break, we are delivering a **FIVE MOVIE** Review-O-Rama! You heard that right. FIVE MOVIES.
Ryan gives us his takes on the horror/comedy Death of a Unicorn, the trippy sci-fi Ash, the balls to the walls action Novocaine, the character study drama Magazine Dreams AND and the cat and mouse thriller Locked.
None of these movies are like each other, so we like to think there’s a little something for everybody here.

Disney has done it again and brought one of their classics back from the grave! Except… this re-animated cadaver is doing the “Modern Disney” thing where… it’s actually not even re-ANIMATED. Matt, Ryan and KP were all able to check out Snow White and that’s a review you won’t want to miss!
In addition, Matt and Ryan checked out one of Netflix’s latest – The Electric State! It stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, and is directed by none other than the Russo Brothers.
What’s more – we’re dusting off our battle axes and re-animating a segment of our own (see, you’re not the only one’s who can do that Disney). This episode marks the triumphant return of: CinemaWAR! The boys fight over how good the Russo Bros really are, and they leave the final call in Mama KP’s… capable… hands.
It’s jam-packed! It’s always jam-packed. You people know this by now! We know you’re gonna love it.
