Thanks!!! In the reporting of this operation, it seemed that mainstream journalists lazily copied police press releases without actually doing any journalist work. The result is spreading lies and misinformation, helping police justify their wasteful activities, and perpetuating Australia’s well funded police state.

It’s refreshing to see professional and investigated journalism. It is much appreciated by all residents of Nimbin, as we are all tired and bored with the sensationalistic and negative reports about our little village. The “Laneway Boys”have ensured that ICE and other hard drugs do not get sold here, and they are protectors of the vulnerable. I’m not glorifing their methods or actions but it’s time this gets put out there, otherwise we are going to end up with desperates coming here to peddle their toxic heavy drugs.

Congratulations, you’ve hit the nail on the head. In fact, the Nimbin Action Group is holding a protest this Saturday to point out precisely what you have said.
We have been hounded by police raids in Nimbin for 40 years and I have been here for 36 of them to bear witness that the lane boys were herbal dealers who kept the town clean by chasing away the ice deales. THEY WERE THE HEALERS of thousands over the years who came seeking pain relief.After the raid, businesses in Cullen Street again lost custom and tourist numbers fell as usual. Locals are tired of these overkills of police in their other wise peaceful village.

In reply to Adrian. While I dont agree with the VLAD, I dont know if it will make anyone more likely to commit murder. Remember, murder also carries a minimum sentence here, 20-25 years depending on the situation. That goes on top of the 15 year (or 25 if you're found to be a person of office in the group you're associated with) mandatory sentence.
