The legislative approvals (HB 1620HB 2063) involved to support the creation of a township for the unincorporated areas of Dash and Browns Point has been underway since 2021.

The Dash Point and Browns Point Incorporation Study was initiated based upon feedback from both communities and our local and legislative representatives to support initiatives for improved community safety, security, tax base effects, infrastructure, homelessness effects and the desire for better local governance and community engagement.

Please review the attached link, read and review the Incorporation Study purpose, what is happening now, and complete the Community Survey available on the weblink.

JULIA BATTISHILL will graduate from Stadium High School and attend Seattle Pacific University
this fall. At an early age, she became captivated by the written word and has always loved
reading, storytelling, and writing fiction. With inspirational support by many of her teachers, Julia
will concentrate her studies in education and major in English Literature and Spanish. Volleyball
has been a dominant sport in Julia’s extracurricular activities in and outside of school. She also
managed her time in order to volunteer in church activities weekly as well as participate in
mission work with children in Mexico during her summer vacation.

TYLER MURPHY plans to attend the University of Portland, studying Civil Engineering. As a
very young boy, Tyler spent hours building and inventing creations with Legos followed by the
game of Minecraft. From there he moved on to algebra, geometry and then calculus integrating his
love of both imagination and math in hopes of eventually building structures for the community.
At Stadium High School, Tyler has been an avid varsity baseball and tennis player and has
volunteered for the Backpack Program and worked at the Centre at Norpoint.

LAUREN NELSON attends Stadium High School and has earned a 3.95 grade point average. She
plans to major in Business at the University of Washington’s nationally ranked Foster School of
Business. Working in her father’s insurance company has given Lauren an understanding and
appreciation for owning and managing a business…possibly her own in the future. Lauren has
demonstrated her musical talent all four years playing the flute in the Wind Ensemble at Stadium
as well as in the Pep Band. Lauren also exhibited theatre skills during her performances in four
school musicals and two plays.

EMMA VAN ORSOW resides in Dash Point and will graduate from Tacoma’s School of the Arts.
Emma was inspired to express herself in the arts when she was in kindergarten and wanted to
enter the PTA “Reflections” art contest. In high school, Emma became an intern in Youth Connect
at the Tacoma Art Museum and had the opportunity to encourage creative thinking with young
students taught through a series of art lessons. She also interned for the Museum of Glass, was a
lead team member in the creation of a community mural project and has volunteered her time for
United Way and the Pantages Theatre. Now Emma will pursue a degree in Art Education at
Western Washington University this fall.
