From what I have been able to discover of my Armbruster ancestors in almost 30 years of research is that they were Catholic and they were possibly from the area of Ohlsbach. I hit a brick wall with my great great grandfather, Wilhelm (William) Armbruster b: 1800 in Baden, who came to the US possibly in 1832 and settled in Liverpool township, Medina County, OH. I have the names of 2 brothers, Valentine and Barney, who supposedly came around the same time but no names of parents or other siblings. Barney is said to have gone further WEST but where exactly I have no idea. I do have a DNA match with an Armbruster in Missouri.

I am Ruth Ann Schulte.(Spurgin), daughter of Leonard Schulte – Dodge, Nebraska. Juliana Schulte, who married C.L. Armbruster on Jan. 15, 1896, was my grandfather’s sister. My grandfather was Wilhelm (William ) (Bill) Schulte. He married Susan Emsicke on Sep.7 1898 at St Leo’s Church in Snyder, Nebraska.

One of the reasons for my writing is the spelling of the last name of our mutual relatives. This might help you and me work on our respective family trees.

In my information the spelling of Juliana and William Schulte’s mother’s maiden name is Walders born Feb 9th 1841 W. Germany married Karl Joseph Schulte on Oct. 23 1868.

Also my grandfather William Schulte married Susan Emsicke – her maiden name in your family tree is Imsicke. I have their marriage certificate and so I know the spelling correct. I also have notes that use the spelling of Imsicke. It seems that family name is interchangeable

Thought you would be interested in the Schulte side of the family.

I do remember visiting Sig and Ruth in Staton. Terry Armbruster would sometimes come to Dodge so I believe he is a bit older than me. My nickname is “Tudi”.

great site! I am an Armbruster living in the Raleigh North Carolina area. Looks like your tree traces back to Onsbach/Achern area of Baden? My Armbrusters trace back to Walddorf and Pliezhausen, about 70 miles east of there, I think, with Johan Georg Armbruster (b. 1803, Pliezhausen) emigrating to New York City around 1850. The Armbrusters in and around Williams County Ohio are distant relatives via other Armbruster emigrants, as are some Australia Armbrusters. Anyone can email me at marmbru at yahoo dot com if wanted!

What a charming site. I looked at your people (down line) and I don’t see any resemblance to my Armbrusters. I am curious though – What religion are they?
If we are related, it looks like probably before the Reformation because of the given name patterns. Many people sometimes are not related even though they are from the same area hundreds of years ago.

The earliest Armbruster I have is Mathias Armbruster, born ca 1640, died 10 March 1720, Mittelhausen, Bas-Rhin, France. He was Catholic. His children with his wife, Barbara Bastian: Anne, b ca 1670 Bilwisheim, Bas-Rhin, married Valentin Arbogast; Catherine, b ca 1671, Rumersheim, Bas-Rhin, m 22 Jan 1704 Martin Gerber; Georges, b 1682, Bilwisheim, Bas-Rhin, m 23 April, Barbara Wind in Bilwisheim.

My Arbogast family was from Mittelhausen.

I have a copy of a page off microfilm of an old record I ordered through LDS. I ran into a break in the records and wondered how ancient the family is. It says: Johannes Armbruster, 1309 and Ursula. Much I cannot read, however their children appear to have been – Conrad, Albrecht, Obrecht, Cath. …

Hans Armbruster died December 1393, s/o Obrecht Armbruster b ca 1290. Obrecht was s/o Johannes Armbruster and Edwige Epse.
