In this episode, I explain that recomposition is possible, but it is extremely difficult, and most people who try will fail.
I explain the five circumstances where recomposition is the best approach for you.
Outside of these circumstances, you can do it, but your margin for error is smaller. If you don't get everything just right, you will almost certainly fail in recomping.
Listen to the episode to determine how the three factors decide if recomposition is an intelligent goal for you.
Once we've established that you are a good candidate for recomposition, I outline the top 10 training and nutrition strategies you must use to maximize your chances of success.
If you have any questions or comments about the show, please DM me on Instagram @tommaccormick.

Jamie describes himself as a cultural history nerd wrapped in tattoo-covered muscle.
He has a passion for history and holds a BA in History and East Asian Studies from the University of Arizona, an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics, and an iMBA from The University of South Carolina.
This passion for history, combined with his love of lifting (in 2012, he set an all-time, all-federation WR powerlifting total of 1,620 for a 181 pounder, making him the go-to guy when it comes to investigating training history.

Your workouts and nutrition choices should work synergistically to help you reach those goals. It seems obvious, but many people fail to do it.
But with just a bit of planning, you can avoid this common mistake. Synching your diet and training together isn't complicated. By assessing your goals and what they require, you can set up a successful diet and know how to adjust it as you progress through different training phases.
When it comes to body composition goals, there are three traditional phases of training:
These phases matched up with the right eating plan should maximize your results. Build a diet plan that works synergistically with each phase of training.

]]>In this latest edition of the Outliers podcast for Breaking Muscle, I am talking to Dr. Walsh primarily about the mental aspects of health answering the question of what does an actual healthy person look like in totality.
Although some people may appear healthy from the outside, in their physical appearance, Dr. Walsh talks about all the components of a healthy life. Healthy people treat their body a little bit like a temple as far as diet, exercise, sleep, but then psychologically they have good stress coping habits. They are able to do some mindfulness and find ways to be able to calm themselves so that stress and cortisol levels don't get the best of them. In addition, healthy people tend to have secure healthy relationships, both social relationships within the community and interpersonal one-on-one relationships.
There's a lot of great ideas and concepts to dig into here, dealing with isolation, infantile urges in our adult attachments, and general behaviors that sabotage our wellbeing. So, it's not just enough to be physically healthy, you need to be healthy in your mindfulness, and healthy in your relationships, whatever they may be.

David wants you not just to read his book but to do the work because he believes what we get out of life is what we focus our thoughts on, and just as importantly, what we focus our actions on, on a daily basis. In David's belief, what separates this book from other products on personal growth and motivation, is that he doesn't just look at what the mind is doing but the actions that we take, and their results, on a daily basis.
For 25 years David has used a variety of healing methods to help people release limiting beliefs regarding money, their bodies, love, addictions, a lack of self identity and more including cognitive behavioral therapy, emotional desensitization, amino acid therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique/Tapping, as well as the common practices of journal release, nutritional therapy, meditation, financial freedom methodology, and more.

Their charge is to create a system of rules that guarantee, to the greatest possible extent, a level playing field for all participants. But as we've seen time and time again, the corrupting influences of money, power, and international politics cause many sporting organizations to forget their duty to the athletes and fans. Instead, they use their positions to enrich themselves and advance their agendas.
This seems to be the case with the latest controversy surrounding track and field. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) seems powerless or uninterested in curbing the rampant use of performance enhancing drugs, but intensely interested in enforcing their conception of the feminine ideal. Most recently, they crafted a set of rules that appear to be directly targeted at South African middle-distance champion Caster Semenya.
Returning to the show this week to weigh in on the situation is Nick Symmonds, 2-time Olympian, entrepreneur, and outspoken advocate for the rights of athletes. He and I dive into the principles behind the IAAF controversy, including what a level playing field should look like. We also discuss his recent retirement from professional running, and how his next adventures will take him to the top of the world seven times over.

It was a fitting choice, as Gavoni is the man who introduced Burgos and Daru, laying the groundwork for what would be a podcasting partnership. Burgos and Gavoni got to question the aforementioned Bruce about the work NovaGenix does with its various PRP therapy clients.
The second-degree black belt spoke on why he chose to develop NovaGenix with fellow founder Andy Stock, and the impetus for adding PRP therapy to the various treatments offered at the clinic. Bruce then talked about how the process plays out -- from evaluation to recovery -- why studies on PRP can vary in results, and he told stories on many of the MMA fighters and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners that have used PRP for their injuries.
Along with interviewing Bruce, a new segment called "In the Corner with Dr. Gloves" was introduced. The segment featured Burgos asking Gavoni questions related to MMA and striking techniques.

Those are his functional range (FR) release system, the functional range conditioning (FRC) mobility development system and the Kinstretch method of movement. Many of these various systems are used by some of the biggest professional sports organizations in the country. Including the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Astros, New York Rangers, Portland Trailblazers, Seattle Mariners and the New York Rangers.
There are many true-believers of Dr. Spina's systems. One being co-host Phil Daru, who is certified in FRC and plans to get a similar certification in Kinstretch. The trio talked about how Dr. Spina developed his systems, their purposes, and the lessons he tries to convey to guests at the multitude of seminars he conducts on the subject.
Dr. Spina also talked about his thoughts on the differences between true mobility and flexibility, the components of the extracellular matrix and his concept of BioFlow. It was an in-depth interview, where this talented individual divulged many of his feelings and opinions on how to get the human body to be as effective as possible.
Along with talking to Dr. Spina, Daru spoke on the plethora of seminars he has coming up in the next few months. Then the two hosts conversed on the thrilling victory for Daru's close friend and client, Dustin Poirier, at UFC Glendale this past weekend.

Kyle is a Level 3 CrossFit Coach and Certified Trainer at Old Line CrossFit in Millersville, Maryland. He sat down with me to unpack what it means to have an unbeatable mind, the topic of his first column. We also chat about how he keeps his athletes engaged within a highly varied programming model, how Old Line has worked to manage growth while maintaining class quality, and how they create opportunities for the gym's culture to knit itself into a cohesive community.
Old Line is a gym that is unafraid to try stuff, and Kyle details some of their successes, like their ChickFit and RuckFit programs, along with a few ideas that didn't pan out as well. Through it all, Kyle has discovered that people don't stick with a gym for the brilliant programming or the string of PRs, as much as for the value of the relationships they find there. With that in mind, he and his staff work from the first day with any athlete to develop mutual trust, respect, and understanding.

It's not good enough for us to shove our hands in our pockets and sadly shake our heads. This is not a problem that will be solved by throwing more money at it. There needs to be concrete, immediate, and personal action.
Team Red White and Blue has stepped into that gap. Their mission is "to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity." If you've seen a bunch of eagle-emblazoned, flag waving crazies at your local 5k, that's Team RWB. But behind their unabashed patriotism and almost impossible friendliness is a group with a very serious purpose. They're using the best tools available to fight back against the tidal wave of veteran disengagement, depression, and suicide, by fostering camaraderie, purpose, and mental and physical health.
Zack Armstrong is the Director of Programs for Team RWB, and he sat down with me to dig into how they take action every day, all around the world, to create authentic, positive connections between veterans and civilians alike. He details the philosophy and core values that they deploy through their cadre of Eagle Leaders, who then become engines of positive change in their local communities. We discuss how they've managed their exponential growth while preserving their culture, and how their leadership development programs focus on providing the skills and practice needed to engage veterans in empathetic, authentic relationships.

As far back as the 1920s, everybody from government agencies to snake oil salesmen have taken their turn on the soapbox, preaching to you that you should follow one diet plan or another to lose weight, look better, and perform at your peak. But every diet fails for the same reason: it doesn't create a lifestyle that you can follow for the rest of your life.
That's what Alex Maclin wants to change. In his years of experience with the likes of Travis Mash and the Barbell Shrugged crew, he figured out that moving a barbell was the easy part. Moving your mind to a sustainable nutrition philosophy was much harder. He's recently struck out on his own to provide personalized nutrition coaching for anybody who wants to get out of the yo-yo cycle of dieting, and into a sustainable practice.
Alex and I chat about how he starts his coaching process with building trust and asking the right questions. He explains that while his strategy includes talking about food, it's really about empowering the whole person. He has learned the value of creating early wins to create positive momentum, and that creating change isn't about telling people what to do. It's about helping people realize what they really want, what it will take to get there, and then giving them the tools and knowledge to keep doing it for a lifetime.

CORA has built something pretty special in and around their city, that is a case study in intentional, effective community development. We compare notes on the different paths our IMBA chapters have taken over the past several years, and detail some of the challenges we face together.
We cover how communities are built around a unifying struggle, and how not everybody has to agree, or even get along, for the group to be cohesive and productive. We talk about how to harness passion, create buy-in, and create connections to the organizations around us to become part of a rising tide. The result is a fun and candid conversation that contains lessons for members of any community that wants to see their tribe grow and succeed. It was also a chance for me to play the opposite role as a guest on their show, and talk about some of the successes and failures I've seen as a volunteer and race director for my IMBA chapter.

His explorations of biomechanics, Pilates, and dance clashed with the rigid structures imposed by a lab environment, so he struck out to create his own system to explain and improve human movement. The result is the Reembody Method, a modality that combines physics, evolutionary biology, neurology, and fundamental psychology.
Kevin sat down with me to explain how his frustration with the lack of imagination in the health and wellness community drove him to seek out the most useful elements of a variety of different approaches. He unpacks what side dominance really means, and how a sense of environmental safety can unlock movement potential in any situation. When the brain perceives a threat, he explains, it reorganizes itself in a way that may not be conducive to performance, and may even create pain to avoid uncertainty.

But that was exactly the feeling I had after spending a week training, laughing, and being embraced by the community at Max Oxygen CrossFit Downtown in lovely Des Moines, Iowa.
Yep, you read that right. Iowa.
What I experienced at Max Oxygen was everything positive you read about CrossFit gyms. The coaching was on point, the programming was thoughtful, the facility was top-notch, and the community felt like a family reunion, even though I'd never met anybody there previously. What I observed that week was a clear example of a gym being run right, so I had to sit down with their Director of Operations, Jess Pilling, to find out how they do it.
Jess is young as a coach, but possesses a professionalism and a passion for her craft that surpasses most coaches who have been in the industry for decades. That fire has lit the torch for her other coaches as well, and permeates the whole culture at the box. Exactly how fast does Jess burn? She recently became Iowa's second female CrossFit Level 3 Certified Trainer, just two and a half years after first getting her L1.
She and I cover how her staff works to actively sculpt and cultivate their culture from the top down, their unique plans for the Open this year, and how they've prepared their athletes at all levels to have the best experience possible. She explains the direct approach she uses with new and prospective athletes to dispel their misconceptions about CrossFit, and how her education and experience as a mental health professional has shaped her coaching.

]]>This is a great way to do science, but is it the best way to build capability? Will your back squat translate to escaping a burning building? Will your 5k time keep you from falling down the stairs? The only honest answer is "maybe." And no honest coach would assert that their specific strength and conditioning programs will develop your entire range of human capability and capacity. So what does "fitness" really mean, if we're only going to target a percentage of what your body was built to do?
The functional fitness movement has been an effort to answer that question, but it still relies on largely the same tools. A perfectly flat gym floor, perfectly symmetrical weights, smooth, constant-diameter bars, and repeated, measurable stresses. While it looks different at first glance, functional fitness falls into many of the same old traps.
Danny Clark is the performance director for MovNat, a comprehensive training system whose core philosophy is that if you want to develop the most capable humans, you should regularly engage the broadest possible range of their capability. To do that, says Danny, you need to get out of the gym humans built, and into the gym that nature has always provided.
He sat down with me to discuss MovNat's origins in evolutionary history and the advent of physical culture in France in the early 1900s. We discuss the costs of the rapid advance of technology on our physical utility, and how true movement competence comes from engaging our natural environment. He explains how his martial arts experience informed his thoughts about movement quality, and how his frustration with the inability of typical gym exercises to address the complex needs of his clients led him to a beach in Mexico. Last, we cover some easy and practical ways to incorporate natural movement into your existing fitness practice.

We discuss the tragedy of throwing kids with no physical literacy straight into sports, the surge in kids needing occupational and even speech therapy simply because they don't move enough, and the cultural impact of helping kids and parents work out together as a family. Matt and Megin think that movement is the best teacher of character and positive self-talk, and after you hear about what they're doing, I think you'll agree.

We look at how our decisions impact the way life treats us and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that people are dying because they're just not doing what they need to do to live.

After he discovered weight training through his experience with CrossFit at the Naval Academy, he embarked on a mission to find out just how strong he could make his 165lb frame. His exploration of his own performance potential eventually led him to Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength system, and CJ fell in love.
He sat down with me to explore some of the ideas he recently presented in a talk at the Starting Strength Coach's Conference, including what the interference effect is, and how to mitigate it in your training. We also cover how people mangle the idea of sport-specific training, and why strength is your best defense against the effects of aging.

All of these topics are major facets in preparation leading up to a fight, be it in a cage or a boxing ring.
The American Top Team strength coach also converses with me on ideas for coaching these unique athletes (along with audio from former guest PJ Nestler on the subject), and testosterone replacement therapy in connection with the sport of MMA.
After chatting on those topics, we move on to our weekly "Ask Daru" segment. Our listnener questions include preparing athletes for maximum weight lifting—when they do not have prior experience with it—how much Daru gets involved in his athletes' nutrition programs, and combating imbalances in the legs of pro fighters.
The show is jam-packed with a plethora of tips and ideas for strength coaches of any level and sporting focus.

She sat down with me to cover her unexpected recruitment from a single road race in New Zealand to a full-ride Division I scholarship in the States. She details the struggles that soon drove her to quit running, tells the story of two very different marathon experiences, and we chat about the magic a coach can add to any training plan.
That magic starts for her runners when she teaches them the difference between junk miles and easy miles. Rochelle strives to coach the intent of each workout, not just the prescribed distances and paces. She touches on the dangers new athletes face trying to emulate the workouts they see from the pros on Instagram, and why consistency trumps everything else over the course of a cycle.

We cover how he's getting his athletes prepared for this year's CrossFit Games season, how the change to the Regionals format has affected his athletes, and why we probably won't see a week added to the Open.
Then we zoom out and talk about what you should look for if you're shopping for a gym this January, how he brings new members into his fitness family, and what he's learned from the wide variety of coaching certifications he's completed. Last, we talk about the lifelong mentors who continue to shape him as a person and a coach, and why his 2018 goals have nothing to do with the gym.

We at Breaking Muscle, and the fitness industry at large, have done an excellent job of defining the problem, and then preaching to the converted. But the time for incremental gains has long past. What's needed at this point, if we hope to make a substantial dent in the crises that face our population, are sweeping, society-wide changes.
This is a difficult sphere in which to operate for a bunch of meatheads, coaches, writers, and small business owners. That's why this year, we're going to call in the experts. Philip K Howard is a bestselling author and political consultant, and the chair of Common Good, whose purpose is to simplify bureaucratic structures so people can get about the business of getting things done.
Howard has researched and written for decades about the effective role government can play (and most often doesn't) in improving the lives of its citizens. He sat down with me to discuss how our obsession with eliminating risk is stunting the development of our children, and the simple reforms we could enact to regain parity with our European competitors. We also cover the unintended consequences that often result from well-intended regulation, what avenues are available to address standardization in the fitness industry, and where we can expect the revolution to begin.

From a history of substance abuse, addiction, obesity, and an eating disorder, Carleen has scratched and clawed her way to the top in CrossFit, appearing three times at the Games. Every inch of her progress has been earned, and while an injury knocked her out of the 2017 Games, it also granted her perspective and strengthened her already stalwart character.
Carleen sat down with me to discuss what she learned from this season, and the obstacles she overcame to become the elite athlete we know today. We also touch on the social stigmas surrounding female athletes, how her life experiences have shaped her coaching, and her incredible efforts to improve her community through a number of outreach programs.
Many top-level athletes end up coaching because it's all they can do when their careers are over, but Carleen overflows with a genuine passion for her craft as a coach and love for her athletes. If you're ever in northwest Oregon, you've got to stop by CrossFit St Helens and experience the community she's helping to create.

After an injury spelled the end of his career as an Air Force pilot, he dove head-first into becoming a fitness professional, and never looked back. Jerred creates programs to take the garage athlete to elite levels of fitness, without the need for a lot of fancy equipment or excessive risk.
Jerred sat down with me to discuss how he made the transition from side hustle to full-time fitness entrepreneur, where he now helps athletes navigate the pitfalls of working out at home. He talks about how mindset is an integral part of the programs he constructs, and the type of athlete that is most likely to find success in his system. We also touch on the problem of poverty and poor health in America, why programs don't have to be sexy to work, and I get his thoughts about the industry fight to standardize certifications.

But we're a long way off from declaring this a post-doping era, and it remains to be seen if weightlifting can recover its image from that of a dirty sport, like baseball and cycling have struggled to do.
National-level weightlifting coach Daniel Bell of Rubber City Weightlifting sat down with me to recap Worlds, talk about the future of the sport in America, and explore the damage that doping culture has had on even clean athletes. We also cover why women are flocking to (and succeeding in) weightlifting faster than men, why it's stupid to have PRs in your assistance exercises, and the dilemma of transgender athletes in competitive sports.

Amanda sits down with me to give a frank account of how menopause affected her, and reveals that the turning point came when she started reaching out to others about their experiences. She details how she decided to take charge of her circumstances through social support, nutrition, and setting aside time for herself.
Undeterred by the lack of information out there for women who want to become fitter after 40, she works tirelessly to change the mindset of women when it comes to strength and resistance training, fat loss after menopause, and what aging can, and should, look like. We cover the power of scoring that first win to unlock your potential for progress, how to find balance between getting the work done and listening when your body says to stop, and her advice for women who are struggling with fitness with no athletic background to fall back on.

John O'Sullivan founded the Changing the Game Project after he discovered that the main reason kids stop playing is that we adults ruin the fun. He sat down with me to discuss how we need to create a national movement toward physical literacy as a crucial life skill. We cover the obvious positive health and academic results from a robust physical education program, and how we should create a system that encourages the transition from team sports on school to individual athletic pursuits as an adult.
John also weighs in on the role the NCAA should take in de-professionalizing youth sports, the risks and benefits of elite youth sports leagues for kids and families, and strategies to raise the level of coaching for all youth sports. He contends that, if we wish to meet the physical needs imposed by our modern lifestyle, we must start by shifting our emphasis from business interests, to the kids' best interest.

His feature-length documentary Raise Up uncovered a sport in its infancy, just as it began to coalesce into an international sensation. He sat down with me for today's show to tell the story of how he discovered a movement that was about more than fitness; it was the engine of positive social change in every city and town where it sprang up.
We talk about how boredom with traditional gym routines has led to the resurgence of calisthenics, and the challenges faced by the community as it struggles to get off the ground as a commercial enterprise. We also cover what the discipline of calisthenics can bring to anyone seeking physical improvement, as well as the perils and pitfalls of the democratization of fitness, which has an increasing number of people learning new sports through social media.

Sean Griffin is the founder of CPG, and he's created a masterful example of a fitness tribe. His kettlebell-based gym has thrived as an inspired community dedicated to a belief in strength with a greater purpose. Sean and Shane Trotter explore the elements of a strong, attractive, and passionate community. Sean contends that it starts with the team, the values, and the vision, and makes a strong case for why you must be willing to identify and stand by your beliefs.
They also discuss the intentional climate of support, landmark celebration, and challenge that form the backbone of building a tribe. For Chicago Primal Gym, kettlebells are the tool of choice, but people come away with so much more. They feel strong, connected through a common cause, and pulled towards a lasting, positive community. They are drawn into a deeper conversation about all elements of their life. CPG has mastered culture and this episode is sure to inspire and direct the discussion as to how these most necessary communities can flourish.

Through them, he has thrived in his combat career, excelled in civilian business, run a successful gym for a decade, and rocketed to the top of the New York Times Best Sellers list.
Jocko sat down with Pete Hitzeman to talk about how his experiences in Iraq as a SEAL task unit commander allowed him to distill the fundamental tenets of leadership that are applicable to all organizations. We also explore how some of the messages and products the fitness industry pushes aren't helping people get to their goals, and how his acceptance of the inherent nature of struggle in life has allowed him to never cease striving.
They touch on the practical benefits of constant discipline as well: since time and money are finite, you have to spend what you have wisely, if you want to have more. Finally, Jocko gives his take on what's behind the paradigm shift in fitness from Jazzercise and Richard Simmons to Spartan Races and CrossFit.
Although it does contain a comprehensive workout guide, Discipline Equals Freedom is more than a workout book. It is a manifesto against personal weakness and excuse making; a step-by-step guide to reshaping the person you are into the person you wish to be. Jocko even used the book himself after the recent passing of his best friend in a tragic accident.
If you need more Jocko in your life, you can check out his podcast, follow him on Instagram, have him revolutionize your business, or even put his face on your chest.

Ben's job is to create future physical education instructors at Central Michigan University, and he believes that a move away from the current emphasis on sports and performance is crucial to creating a population that doesn't require personal trainers, much less bariatric surgery.
Ben and Pete Hitzeman discuss the foundations of his lifelong fitness philosophy, how we can decide for ourselves how strong is strong enough, and the current threatened state of physical education in America. He unpacks the mindset behind many of the excuses people use not to get fit, and discusses the nature of the challenge we face in helping people overcome those excuses. He illustrates the danger of blind adherence to arbitrary performance benchmarks, and talks about how he's working to save physical education through his work at the Specialized Foundation.

They make a case for shifting your training mindset toward skill acquisition, and examine why kettlebells and calisthenics are ideal tools for this approach. They discuss the societal causes of poor mental health that may relate to the rise of mass shootings, exploring the role of an environment devoid of outlets for physical, mental, and emotional health. This is a thought-provoking discussion that touches on everything from the relative academic performance of boys and girls, to play, rites of passage, and physical education.
Mental health and physical health cannot be conceived of separately. We should seek to train the whole person with an understanding of the inseparable dependency of our physical, emotional, and mental states. People are starving for what the fitness community offers. It is up to us to bring them in the door.

This program produced unparalleled results, with the bulk of participants mastering double-digit pull ups, extension press ups, handstand push ups, and 2-mile times under 14 minutes, among a myriad of other impressive feats. Better still, they accomplished all this with zero recorded injuries.
This is the story of a high school physical education program created by Stan LeProtti, and first implemented at La Sierra High School in California. Historian Ron Jones and director Doug Orchard have created The Motivation Factor, a documentary about how this groundbreaking program inspired President John F. Kennedy to create similar programs in 4,000 schools across the United States. This amazing story sheds light on the role of physical education throughout history, why it should form the backbone of all education, and how it represents a solution to many of our most pressing societal issues.

They cover the dispute with USA Track & Field that led to him being left off the 2015 world team, and the absurdity of professional athletes literally starving under rules built for amateur athletics.
Nick has never been shy of sharing his opinions, and this interview is no different. He minces no words about the International Olympic Committee, his thoughts on doping in international sports, and the roots of east African dominance in the middle and long distances. We also dive into why the surge in the popularity of running hasn't carried over to track and field, why professional athletes need to remember that they only get paid to entertain, and the field event he wishes he could have tried.

Ben talks about how the constraints of cooking for improved body composition enabled his creativity in the kitchen, where he's built a menu that will not only help you progress toward your goals, but keep your taste buds entertained, so you won't feel the need to go out and ruin all your gains with cheat meals. He details the evolution of his business from just cooking for himself and his brother to opening their own retail location, where his clientele now includes everyone from competitive athletes to the morbidly obese, and busy professionals to hungry college kids.
We also discuss the problems with mixing dietary strategies, how he uses technology to demonstrate the effectiveness of his service to his clients, and how his strategy is to become "fit by consumption."

Tim chats with Shane Trotter about why movement starts with the head, how everything in the body is connected, and what makes the vestibular system a central part of that connection. He also reveals how he trained for his RKC recertification largely without kettlebells, instead relying on the movement proficiency, work capacity, and grip strength from his daily Original Strength routine. He gives some actionable advice on how controlling your breath can help your mental and physical states, discusses why and how we should start to go barefoot more often, and how the practice of daily resets can bring you and those around you a more joyful life.

Borrowing from fields as diverse as chaos theory, psychology, high-level mathematics, anatomy and physiology, Middle Eastern philosophy, sociology and more, Game Changer represents a turning point in how coaches, athletes, and even fans should understand their sport. We dive deep into the foundations of his approach, why it's better for players and everyone else involved, why he believes that periodization is dead, and the changes he'd like to see in team sports moving forward. If you coach, play, or even like to watch from home, this is one interview and book that is essential to your experience.

The root of efficiency is balance, and so he invented the BOSU ball to help develop more powerful, efficient athletes. Today, his passion is locomotion, and his work in running mechanics is breaking ground in a field that hasn't made much measurable progress in decades.
When the only thing that matters is getting to the finish line first, harnessing the entire human machine is essential for maximum performance. David's work with Cal Poly has led to remarkable breakthroughs in already well-trained athletes, and what we're witnessing now is just the beginning of how he might change the running industry as a whole.
