Training Programs
- Provide training courses and workshops in the latest information technology disciplines such as data science, artificial intelligence and cyber security, with the possibilityof customizing the objectives and content of the training package to comply with the requirements of the beneficiary.
- Provide summer programs that include modern technical fields, allowing participants to benefit from the college's resources and educational environment during the summer vacation.
Consultation Services
- Activating the partnerships between external parties and King Saud University represented by King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies by providing consulting and training services in the latest fields of information technology to cover the needs and support the work of the beneficiaries.
- Work to build new partnerships with various public and private entities to ensure the sustainability of providing training services and technical advice.
Projects and Technical Solutions
- Provide projects and technical solutions implemented by work teams from the college faculty to achieve the requirements of the beneficiaries.
- Participation in the formulation of beneficiaries’ technical offers when they submit requests for proposals, as well as participation in committees to study and arbitrate technical offers submitted to the beneficiaries.
Research and Studies
- Participation in research projects in partnership with various entities from the private and public sectors.
- Provide support in establishing and developing research activities in the areas of the beneficiaries to ensure optimal use of the latest relevant technologies.
Academic Programs Accreditation
- Designing and reviewing study plans for academic programs in computer majors according to the recommendations of the ACM / IEEE and the requirements of the Saudi Arabia Qualifications Framework (SAQF) and to the latest developments in the field and the needs of the market.
- Provide support and training to accompany educational institutions in all stages of preparation and application for national and international academic accreditation for their academic programs in various computer disciplines.
Summer Workshops
- Offer a 2-6 weeks summer school, during which students discover university life and the latest computer specializations. The course aims to introduce students to the majors, tracks and courses taught in the college, in order to help them to objectively determine their goals and future choices.
Resources Utilization
- Make use of the college’s halls/laboratories during vacations by making them available to external entities.

Services

1. Training programs

· Provide training courses and workshops that meet the needs of the beneficiaries.

· Training courses and workshops include the latest information technology disciplines such as data science, artificial intelligence, and cyber security, with the possibility of customizing the objectives and content of the training package to comply with the requirements of the beneficiary.

· Training courses and workshops are offered during flexible periods (morning or evening) according to the requirements of the beneficiary.

· Provide summer programs that include modern technical fields, allowing participants to benefit from the college's resources and educational environment during the summer vacation.

2. Consultation services

· Activating and strengthening the partnerships between external parties and King Saud University represented by King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies by providing consulting and training services in the latest fields of information technology to cover the needs and support the work of the beneficiaries.

· Work to build new partnerships with various public and private entities to ensure the sustainability of providing training services and technical advice.

· Submit project proposals to win the relevant bids submitted to the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies from various entities in the public and private sectors.

· Project management as well as technical supervision and scientific review of its outputs.

· Provide technical solutions for the beneficiaries’ research and development units.

· Participation in research projects in partnership with various entities from the private and public sectors.

5. Academic programs accreditation

|Student Affairs Unit

The Student Affairs Unit is pleased to outline its role in supporting the academic and administrative processes by monitoring student affairs and providing essential services. Our objective is to foster an organized educational environment that enhances academic performance and strengthens communication between students, academic departments, and relevant stakeholders.

| Target Audience:

College departments, vice-deaneries, and undergraduate students (male and female) at the College of Computer and Information Sciences.

| Objectives of the Student Affairs Unit:

• Supervising the implementation of policies and regulations governing student affairs.

• Monitoring student cases and taking necessary procedural actions.

• Coordinating with academic departments to prepare course schedules and oversee the registration process.

• Collaborating with the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding course scheduling and the academic system.

• Developing student services to enhance work quality and provide comprehensive academic and administrative support.

| Responsibilities of the Unit:

• Policy Oversight: Supervising the execution of goals, policies, and regulations related to student affairs.

• Case Management: Processing student cases and initiating the required administrative procedures.

• Registration Monitoring: Following up with departmental registration committees.

• Scheduling Coordination: Liaising with departments and colleges to finalize course schedules.

• Institutional Liaison: Coordinating with the Deanship of Admission and Registration on matters pertaining to academic systems and scheduling.

Introduction:

The Minor in Artificial Intelligence aims to equip undergraduate students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a focus on multidisciplinary applications and ethical considerations.

The AI minor allows students to enhance their capabilities by gaining knowledge and hands-on experience in AI. Through engagement in specialized courses, practical projects, and ethical discussions

Program Educational Objectives:

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the Minor in Artificial Intelligence are designed to align with the university’s mission and support the national strategic direction for developing AI competencies. Graduates of the Minor in AI will be prepared to:

PEO1 Introduce students to the broad field of artificial intelligence (AI), including its key concepts, tools, and techniques.

PEO2 Explore and develop real-world applications of AI and Machine Learning (ML) across diverse industries and domains.

PEO3 Provide students with practical experience in evaluating AI and ML models to address real-world problems.

PEO4 Promote ethical awareness and responsible use of AI in academic, professional, and societal contexts.

Program Learning Outcomes:

Graduates are expected to have the ability to:

K1/PLO1 Explain the core concepts, tools, techniques, and limitations in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

S1/PLO2 Apply appropriate AI tools and techniques to solve real-world problems in specific domains.

S2/PLO3 Evaluate AI system in specific domains.

V1/PLO4 Demonstrate ethical responsibility and awareness of the societal impact of AI technologies, including fairness, transparency, and data privacy.

Application:

Admission to the Minor in Artificial Intelligence program is subject to Article 14 of the Regulatory Bylaws for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and its Executive Rules, in accordance with the announced terms, conditions, and criteria.

Applications are accepted each academic term through the academic system portal during specific periods announced on the website of the College of Computer and Information Sciences.

Students enrolled in any of the College of Computer and Information Sciences programs are not eligible to apply.

To apply for the Minor in AI program, students must not have completed more than 60% of the total credit hours required in their major degree plan.

The proportion of overlapping credit hours must not exceed 25% of the total credit hours of the minor (or a maximum of two courses). The department offering the minor shall determine whether the overlapping course will be counted as an equivalent or replaced with another course within the minor.

Admission Requirements:

Students applying for the Minor in Artificial Intelligence must meet the following requirements:

Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at King Saud University, excluding programs offered by the College of Computer and Information Sciences.
Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at King Saud University in one of the following colleges:
College of Engineering
College of Science
College of Medicine
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or above.
Have successfully completed the prerequisite course prior to applying for the minor and achieved a minimum grade of ‘B’.
⁠⁠Demonstrate English language proficiency by either achieving a grade of ‘A’ in English language courses of the Common First Year

Selection Criteria:

Due to the limited number of seats offered by the program, the following selection criteria will be applied when accepting students into the program:

１. Cumulative GPA.

２. Grade in prerequisite courses.

The admission criterion is calculated after converting all values to a scale of (100) as follows:

Admission Criterion = (0.70 × Cumulative GPA) + (0.30 × Prerequisite Grade)

Applicants are ranked based on the admission criterion and accepted according to the available seats

Prerequisites:

To be eligible for enrolment in the Minor in Artificial Intelligence program, students must have successfully completed an introductory statistics course, such as:

STAT 101 - Introduction to Probability & Statistics
STAT 102 - Introduction to Probability
STAT 109 - Biostatistics
QUA 107 - Introduction to Statistics in Business

Program Structure:

The program comprises 20 credit hours distributed across seven courses, including one preparatory course, four required core courses, and two elective courses. Table 1 presents a detailed overview of the program structure.

Introduction:

The Department of Information Systems is considered one of the main departments of

the College of Computer and Information Sciences since its inception in the year 1404. Since

its establishment, the department has strived to meet the growing needs of human resources

in the computer and information technology sector by providing distinguished academic

programs. The department's academic programs varied between bachelor's, master's, and

PhD. In light of the department’s endeavor to keep pace with developments in the national

economy and changes in the labor market, the department offers the Executive Master’s

Program in Data Science and Management, which aims to provide the labor market with

specialists in data science and management and prepare leaders in this field in the public and

private sectors.

Executive Master’s in Data Science and Management.

Significance and Justifications of the Program:

1. Keeping pace with the targets of Vision 2030, which emphasized the importance of

data, as demonstrated by the establishment of the Saudi Data and Artificial

Intelligence Authority, by establishing a specialized executive program to supply the

labor market with specialists and leaders in the field of data science and management,

and in fulfilling the demand created by the Royal Decree number 59766 dated

20/11/1439 AH to establish data management offices in all governmental institutions.

2. The emergence of the paramount importance of data in all business institutions and

its impact on the quality of decision-making and determining future trends, which

requires the provision of qualitative programs to qualify students with skills related

to the latest data technologies, engineering, and analysis, and applying this in a

practical way.

3. Meeting the noticeable demands for specialists in the fields of data in various business

sectors by providing an executive program that combines cognitive and applied

aspects to help them develop and keep pace with the latest developments in

techniques, tools and methods for dealing with data.

Program Vision:
To be a pioneer in qualifying a high-quality graduate for a distinguished professional
career in the field of data science and management.
Program Mission:
Providing an educational and applied environment that equips students with the skills
and knowledge that enable them to achieve their professional ambitions in the field of data
science and data management.
Program Objectives:
1. Deliver a solid curriculum in data science and management, which conforms to
guidelines laid down by the Deanship of Graduate Studies at King Saud University.

2. Offering a new higher education opportunity targeted at IT professionals.

3. Supply the labor market with qualified personnel in the field of data science and data
management in support of the royal decree to establish data management offices in
all public and semi-private institutions.

4. Preparing graduates for various professions in dealing with data technologies, data
management and data analytics.
Admission Requirements:
In addition to the admission requirements mentioned in the unified regulations for
graduate studies in Saudi universities and the organizational and executive rules and
procedures for postgraduate studies at King Saud University, the department requires the
following to enroll in the program:
1. Applicants must hold a BSc. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science,
Information technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer
Education, or BSc. Degrees from Business Administration College, Engineering College,
Science College, from King Saud University or a University recognized by the Ministry
of Education, with at least a (Good) rank and a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 5.00 or equivalent.

2. The applicant should submit an English language test result or a proof that the BSc, diploma study language is English.

3. Prior work experience of 2 years at least in IT-related field.

4. Students with bachelor’s degrees that are obtained from non-Saudi universities must provide equivalency letters from the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia.
