If you are out and about set surveying and you see a sick or injured farm animal there is a National number you can call for assistance 03000 200 301. You go through a few options before speaking to someone who after taking details will put you through to the on call vet for the area. They will arrange to go out to the animal.
This is a really useful number to keep in your phone.

]]>Its going to be a fantastic day – with loads of like minded animal lovers taking to the streets of London. We will be joined by naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham who will speak at the march – other confirmed speakers include actor and animal welfare campaigner Peter Egan, wildlife writer and campaigner Mark Avery and Labour MP Chris Williamson.
The protest is an important opportunity to bring media and political attention back to the badger cull issue, ahead of what we expect to be an extension of the culls to new areas of England at the end of August.
The march will start at Cavendish Square in Central London at 1:30 pm. For more information see The Badger Trusts Face Book event –

Did you know that it is estimated that 50,000 badgers are killed on the roads every year, making badgers the most numerous victims of road traffic accidents of all UK species. The Badger Trust is launching a far reaching campaign ‘Give Badgers a Brake’.
If you want to get involved locally why not drop us an email and join our mailing list – info@badgertrustwestmidlands.co.uk
The Badger Trust are challenging you to join them to help make the UK’s roads safer for badgers and other wildlife. There are the 3 things you can do to help reduce wildlife related road accidents: – find out more on www.badger.org.uk/brake

]]>This backward step ignores scientific evidence and the failure of the English culls.
The Farmers’ Union of Wales and NFU Cymru welcomed the publication of the government’s strategy. They had opposed the alternative proposal to effectively add a further 60 days of movement restrictions for herds passing a clearing test, emphasising this would increase the minimum time period that any herd was under restriction to at least six months.

More empty sets once the cull starts.
So once again farmers profits are put before wildlife.

A set entrance
Would you like to help badgers? There are loads of ways to get involved. Could you help to check injured badgers (mostly road traffic accidents) and take them to the wildlife hospital? Search for orphaned cubs? Help with mapping local badger sets? Help out with fundraising and taking our stall to local events?
There is something for everyone to do. No experience necessary.
If you answered yes or maybe or you’d like to find out a bit more why not come along to our groups meeting on Saturday 15th April at 1st Solihull Scout Hut on Lode Lane in Solihull B91 2HZ at 2pm.
You do need to be a member to attend, but membership costs just £10 and you can pay on the day!
We would love to meet new badger enthusiasts, you will be assured of a warm welcome – and I did hear cake mentioned
If you can’t make the meeting but would like more information please send us a message.
