Racers like to ensure they do they best while prepping their tires for mounting and racing conditions. For years, racers have used moto-tools with sanding drums, sandpaper, flexible open-web pads, and highly abrasive items to scuff tire beads prior to mounting. JConcepts has hit the easy button combining the handheld padded material into a cylindrical option fastened to a shank which allows racers to mount straight to a moto-tool. The RM2 mushroom scuff pad allows repeated use, quick and easy attachment, and scuffing results without a deep burn or penetration into tire beads.

Available in two different grit patterns, the green is more abrasive and should be used on tires which have omitted a lot of surface bloom, cloud, or crud on the bead area. The red item produces a slightly lighter texture upon sanding and with its softer nature is ideal for clay compound tires and beads that do not require as much cleaning or scuff to the bead. Each package contains 10 pieces to ensure a healthy selection for many tire mounting applications.

Features:
• Padded open-web material on cylindrical shank
• Quick attachment to moto-tools
• Available in two different grit abrasions

The most successful 1:8th buggy tire in the modern era adds another dimension to its championship-winning package. JConcepts combines the proven pin size, density, profile, and carefully arranged bite technology of the Reflex with an updated inner carcass featuring overlapping X-brace webbing. Originally designed to bridge the gap between the popular Hybrid and options such as the Crossbow and Stacker, the Reflex has built a legacy of its own. As of 2026, it stands alone as the tire that can do it all.

The Reflex features square, angled pins stacked vertically to flex and fold evenly across the tread. Paired with the blended internal X-brace webbing, the Reflex X takes performance further as traction builds. The updated inner structure helps resist tire expansion while providing the support needed to handle heavier side loads and increased cornering forces. The combination of stacked tread and a stable inner carcass promotes consistent wear and strong forward bite, while the aligned spacing encourages rotation through the turns and a snappy release to square up quickly.

The Reflex remains one of the most sampled and copied tire designs as competitors attempt to capture its performance and the JConcepts Racing Team vibe. But championship DNA, the reputation of the team from Groveland, Florida, and proprietary rubber compounds do not come from copying a tread pattern. They come from years of development, competition, and a commitment to winning. Each package includes JConcepts Dirt-Tech closed-cell inserts. Recognized by their durable construction and signature gray color, Dirt-Tech inserts complete a tire-and-insert combination built for the demands of 1:8th off-road racing.

The success of the Reflex starts with a commitment to the track. The JConcepts team builds, tests, and travels the world, supporting racers and gathering valuable driver feedback in pursuit of products that deliver in appearance and performance. Designed in the U.S.A. and backed by JConcepts customer service, the Reflex X is developed and supported by professionals who bring style, authenticity, and racing experience to every detail. Look for reputable dealers and distributors, demand authentic and licensed products, and choose JConcepts.

Double Bar – 1/8 Buggy – Gold Compound

During the march to the 1/8 IFMAR World Championship, JConcepts added another weapon to the bar tire arsenal with the Double Bar. Using previously unseen elements with the dual nature of the tread, the JConcepts item is an entirely different monster. The overlapping and repeated concept is one that intends to tackle conditioned track surfaces and heavy slick groove conditions like never before. Located in the infield of the tread, diamond patterned pins consume space, surface area, and ultimately a flexible arrangement that conforms to high-end racing conditions.

As the dual tread intersects itself, a wall provides additional side bite and stability during hard side-loads and 180-degree corners. The soft and layered tread terminates at the edge, and it rolls off to give the tire an easy transition for an easier driving feel. Inside, a firmer inner carcass webbing was built into the Double Bar to take on more difficult jumping tasks, faster speed European style track layouts, and reduce the ballooning effect of racing at higher speeds.

The Double Bar arrives ready with Dirt-Tech inserts known for their durability, shape, and consistent feel in a multitude of track conditions. The JConcepts team builds, tests, and travels the world to support the brand and gather valuable driver feedback in search of the best appearing and performance items on the market. The product is designed in the U.S.A. and always backed by JConcepts customer service, supported, and developed by professionals with style. • Overlapping bar tread performance
• Low height, fast response pattern
• Individual diamond “infield” strategically placed

Born on the world stage, ready for a new generation. JConcepts brings the Finnisher to the Team Associated RB10, capturing the look, attitude, and racing heritage of the original in a body designed specifically for today’s retro-inspired buggy. It’s a resto-mod approach with a familiar JConcepts signature—competition styling from a memorable era, fitted to a platform ready to create new memories.

The Finnisher story began in Vaasa, Finland, where JConcepts arrived at the IFMAR World Championships with an all-new body design. Its name paid tribute to the location, while its distinctive shape made an immediate impression on the track. Building on lessons learned from the Punisher body line, the Finnisher combined a more aggressive appearance with carefully considered details for handling on the ground and control in the air.

Originally developed around the extended +8mm Team Associated B4.1 chassis, the Finnisher reflected the demands of increasingly technical racetracks. Bigger jumps, faster corners, and changing conditions called for attention to every surface. The increased windshield angle, forward cab position, simplified side-pods, and close chassis fit each played a role in the original design’s approach to airflow, steering response, and jumping consistency.

That unmistakable design language provides the inspiration for the RB10 edition. The forward cab profile and angled windshield establish the Finnisher’s recognizable stance, while the chamfered side-pod treatment carries the clean, purposeful appearance along the chassis. The stepped area behind the cab and distinctive window styling recall the details that gave the original its identity. Together, these elements bring the vibe and feel of the World Championship-era Finnisher to the RB10 with a fit developed specifically for the vehicle.

Completing the package, the Aero 6.5” wing complements the Finnisher’s aggressive profile and brings another familiar JConcepts racing element to the RB10. From the forward cab to the rear wing, the combination captures the competition-inspired appearance that makes this resto-mod project feel complete. For enthusiasts building a retro-inspired RB10, the Finnisher brings that history into the paint booth and onto the track. Revisit a favorite racing scheme or create something entirely your own; the familiar lines provide the canvas for a fresh take on a JConcepts classic.

World-stage roots. Resto-mod attitude. The Finnisher returns, JConcepts style. All bodies are sold clear and are shown painted for advertising purposes only. Tires, wheels, and bodies are sold separately unless otherwise specified. JConcepts reserves the right to update or make changes to product, packaging, or contents. It’s helpful to add hook and loop tape to the body and chassis for the nicest fitment to the chassis (not included).

Features:
• Original JConcepts Finnisher styling, specifically fitted for the Team Associated RB10
• World Championship heritage with retro-inspired, resto-mod appeal
• Forward cab placement and aggressive windshield angle
• Simplified, JC-chamfered side-pods for a clean, purposeful profile
• Close-fitting body contours tailored to the RB10 chassis
• Distinctive stepped rear cab and secondary side-window styling

4 Wins For JConcepts At The 2026 Hobby Haven Heat Series https://blog.jconcepts.net/2026/10/4-wins-for-jconcepts-at-the-2026-hobby-haven-heat-series/ https://blog.jconcepts.net/2026/10/4-wins-for-jconcepts-at-the-2026-hobby-haven-heat-series/#respond Wed, 28 Oct 2026 19:33:35 +0000 https://blog.jconcepts.net/?p=140041

Last Friday was the 6th and final round of the 2026 Hobby Haven Heat Series at Thorson Memorial Raceway in Urbandale, IA. This series took place at the world-famous Hobby Haven and JConcepts was the title sponsor for this series.

The series consisted of six rounds spread out over six months that started back in May. There were nine classes to compete in, and a driver’s best five finishes would be used to determine each class winner. Since this was a points series each race finish and top qualifying spot was very critical.

If you finished 1st for a round you would receive 100 points. Second place would receive 99, 3rd would be awarded 98, and so forth. If you were the top qualifier you would also receive an extra bonus point which was key for tie breakers, plus if there was a tie on points then the driver would the most TQs in a given class would win the tie breaker.

The maximum number of points a driver could earn in each class was 505 so that was the “magic number” drivers were aiming for as the series raced on during the Summer and Fall months.

For the series if a driver competed in a minimum of five rounds then they were eligible for season awards. The top three finishers in each class would receive hardware at the finals in October.

All drivers that raced in at least five rounds were also eligible for some door prizes at the finals too.

The race format for each points night consisted of two rounds of IFMAR style qualifying. Each qualifier was four minutes long, and only a driver’s best qualifying round counted towards their final qualifying position for the class they competed in that night.

Depending on the number of entries in a given class each points night, all drivers would make it to the five minute A Main, or a certain number of positions would be locked into the A Main and then two drivers from the lower mains would have to “bump up” from the B Main. During the series the track layout would change every two rounds along with the outside temps and levels of traction.

Leading the charge for the team was JConcepts driver Trevor “Chilly” Duncan. In the Mod Stadium Truck class he would TQ and then drive on the take the win in the opening four rounds, plus he picked up a 1st place finish in round 5. With a total of 504 points coming into the finals he would sit that round out while still taking home his 1st title of the series!

Team products used:

The second class he competed in was the Mod Short Course Truck class. He would start off the series with a TQ and W in the opening two rounds. In rounds 2 and 3 he would not set the TQ, but he would come back to win in the A Main. In the 5th round he would grab his third TQ and win of the series in this class. With 503 points coming into the finals he would again sit that round out, and then after the finals were complete he would bring home his 2nd title in the series!

Team products used:

The third class he competed in for the series was 17.5 2wd Buggy. This was probably the most competitive class of the series, and he would get off to a strong start with an opening TQ and win. In Round 2 he would suffer a DNF to finish 9th overall, and then in Round 3 he would finish 3rd, then follow that up with a 4th place finish in Round 4. With two rounds to go he needed a strong finish, and he would go on to do just that as he finished the final two rounds with two TQs and wins which locked up his 3rd series title!

Team products used:

His son Ridley competed in this series too. In the Mod Stadium class he would finish 5th overall after all the points were tallied up which included a 2nd place in the 6th round which was his best finish of the series in this class!

Team products used:

He also raced in the 21.5 2wd Buggy class. In the opening two rounds he would score 100 points each night as he would take the win in the A Main. In the 3rd round he would finish 4th overall for the night, but then in the next two rounds he would find his stride as he would grab the double TQ and win. He would also sit out the finals as he had this class title locked up, and he would earn his 1st series title and 4th for the year for JConcepts!

Team products used:

After the racing was complete at the finals the door prizes were handed out courtesy of JConcepts and the other great series sponsors!

That was followed up by a brief awards ceremony where the top three received their hardware at the podium too.

With this series coming to an end, that would also mark the end to Hobby Haven’s outdoor racing season. We thank Hobby Haven for allowing us to be part of this series, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2027!
