The post 6 Days, 566 Kilometers, and a Deal with Pain: Inside the Wild, Unscripted Journey of ‘Born to Fly’ first appeared on A-Desiflava Magazine.
]]>This isn’t a hypothetical survival movie. This was Day 2 for Rahul Sharma—a born-and-raised Hong Konger who once wore the city’s colours as a U-19 cricketer — who traded the pitch for the open road to set a monumental World Record, dedicating every agonizing stride to Children’s Cancer Institute. He didn’t just survive it; he conquered it, rewriting history by running the entire length of Sri Lanka (566 kilometers) in a staggering 6 days, 13 hours, and 22 minutes to set a brand-new Record. Covering 566 kilometers in just over six days requires a specific kind of madness—or a beautifully pure perspective on life. With his mind and heart set at the right place, Rahul has carved an extraordinary narrative of grit, legacy, and a deeply moving mission to push human limits for a remarkable cause.

This incredible feat, thankfully for us curious and amazed spectators – has been documented and ready to be premiered in the form of a striking, moving and inspiring film, Born to Fly. Adesiflava had the privilege to go one-on-one and deeply personal with Rahul, alongside his director Ali and his PR Ben, for an intimate, raw look at the making of Born to Fly. Ahead of its highly anticipated homecoming premiere at Premiere Elements on June 6th, the crew pulled back the curtain on how three self-described “crazy university students” managed to coordinate, document, and conquer a world-class athletic milestone with zero prior experience.

Before we look under the hood of this record-shattering run, mark your calendars. This is not just a film screening; it is a high-octane homecoming celebration and a massive charity drive for childhood cancer research. Tickets are strictly limited.

What we discovered behind the scenes isn’t just a regular PR-led world-record sports story. It’s a wildly inspiring underdog tale of three passionate individuals who dared to “dream like a kid” and pulled off the impossible. Let’s explore this heroic tale together, as we delve into the answers of the crew to the thoughtfully curated question set from the Adesiflava team, capturing the team’s triumphs, challenges and behind-the-scenes journey through this courageous feat. Lets’ dive straight into the interviews.
Adesiflava: Rahul, you were a standout U-19 cricketer for Hong Kong before diving into ultra-running and sports physiology. What was the exact moment you looked at a map of Sri Lanka and thought, ‘I’m going to run the entire length of this country’?”
Rahul : “For me, I’ve always wanted to be the best at a certain sport. I started off with my father’s dream of me becoming a cricketer. After two knee injuries, I wasn’t able to bring that to life… which led me to spend time searching for what brings me fulfillment. Through rehab, I started running more and before I knew it,I did my first marathon at the start of 2025.I saw someone online run across Australia and reached out to my coach. I said, ‘I ran my first marathon in January 2025. Let’s find a country at the end of the year where, within one year, I set a world record.’ We landed in Sri Lanka. Everything from the distance to managing the logistics… it just seemed like a country where we can make everything come to life.”
Adesiflava: Averaging nearly 100 kilometers a day in 30°C+ coastal humidity is brutal. Can you take us to your lowest physical or mental point during those 6 days? When your body was screaming to stop, what pushed you through the next mile?
Rahul: The two striking points were Day 2 and the penultimate day.
On Day 2, the heat had gotten quite heavy—more than 35°C. It was jarring mind-numbing heat – I actually can’t even recall the majority of the day.

On the penultimate day, I experienced the most physical pain that I have ever in my life in my Achilles tendon. I had to walk close to 60 km through the heat that day. What helped me was a deal I made with myself before the run: to find out if I am as good as I say I am. For me, that comes with navigating through pain like that. I really believe the best athletes in the world or people with that elite mindset, wait for moments like that to then shine. With one day to go, there was nothing that was going to stop me.
Adesiflava: This monumental effort was dedicated to the Children’s Cancer Institute. How did keeping those brave kids in mind change the texture of your pain?
Rahul: Having a cause bigger than myself attached to it helped when things got difficult or tedious. What I experienced can’t even scratch the surface of what a mom who’s just had a kid is finding out that her son or daughter has leukemia. Imagine the pain they must be feeling, right? Keeping that at the back of your mind keeps you a bit more leveled. It’s a good check.”
Adesiflava: You were born and raised right here in Hong Kong. How does it feel to bring this world-record story back home?
Rahul : I am so pumped to be back in Hong Kong to share it with all my family, friends, and well-wishers! It’s almost like a dream come true. We’ve already premiered this in Melbourne, and have received overwhelming positive reviews from people and my crop of friends. And now to bring it back to the people that really helped us raise a lot of money, but also sent so many prayers… I can finally show them that this is where all the hard work went into and I can’t wait!
Adesiflava: One special message for the audience?
We’re so grateful for all the consideration this has got. To the people interacting and coming to watch, I urge them to take away one thing, it is our motto: Dream like a kid. It doesn’t matter if you’re 99 or if they’re 2 years old, I want them to take that message home and maybe do some crazy stuff they never thought they could do. And to always try and be the best in the world while being at it.
What a moving tale of passion, hard-work and unflinching determination! We then moved on to Ali, the man behind the lens who successfully directed a World Record, that too remotely- let’s learn more about it.

This wasn’t a corporate, slickly produced Hollywood venture. It was an organic, chaotic, brilliant effort by a tight-knit crew directed by Ali.
Adesiflava: Ali, documenting an ultra-marathon is a logistical jigsaw puzzle. What were the nightmares of keeping up with Rahul, and how did you capture that raw, unscripted drama?
Ali (Director/Editor/Writer): “The logistical nightmare was that I couldn’t go to Sri Lanka myself, which you’ll hear all about in the documentary. That made it difficult because we had to find videographers and communicate with them through WhatsApp calling and texting while they were busy navigating a world record attempt. It was a massive challenge.
In terms of capturing the raw drama— literally nothing was really scripted. Everything you see was real challenges we were going through at the time. Personally, I don’t have an interest in running! But I think that was important. Someone who doesn’t know much about running making this documentary makes it more relatable to the general public and non-athletes. It makes it easier to connect to the story.”
Adesiflava: Is there any standout, unseen footage with the local community that will captivate the big-screen audience?
Ali: The way the Sri Lankan community connected with us was amazing. There is a moment caught on camera where a local veteran came up to Rahul waving the Indian flag, showing immense support for him in a foreign country. I think that gave Rahul the little push exactly when he needed it!
Tremendous efforts and unbridled concentration – Ali’s dedication to make this an authentic visual narration of Rahul and team’s strenuous work, is commendable.
The man behind the PR for the film, Ali also shared some personal insights and challenges into what went behind making this sincere, raw, tale of motivation and bold mission. He emphasized just how unique the origins of this project truly were, making the final cinematic cut even more impressive.
Adesiflava: Ben, what were the obstacles or logistical hurdles that the team oversaw as this came to life?
Ben: “This wasn’t a professionally organized, PR-led world record attempt,” Ben tells us. As the lead logistics operator, I was learning everything from scratch from how to reach out to sponsors to how to work best with Rahul’s coach and learning that on the go whilst trying to organize the event presented a challenge in and of itself.
“This was the dream of, at the time, three university students: one who was crazy enough to run the length of a country, one who was crazy enough to organize the whole thing, and one crazy enough to document it”
With no prior knowledge or experience, we learnt everything on the go while balancing university and social lives. It’s a true underdog tale for those who are potentially fearful of dreaming big.
Adesiflava: The VIP Experience: “With red carpet photographs starting at 3:30 PM, what can attendees expect from the energy of the premiere, and how can people support the cause if they can’t make it to the venue?”
Ben:The energy at Premiere Elements on June 6th promises to be “nothing but top-tier, top energy.” It’s like a grand homecoming for Rahul. Premiere is dedicated to a hometown hero who pushed human limits to the absolute brink. Hong Kong needs to show up loud – rejoicing in celebration, inspired in awe, together contributing in support and in empathy with the delicate cause behind it.

AdesiFlava was whelmed by the incredible energy of the story and the genuineness of the team as evident amply during the interview- and lauds the heroic efforts scripted by the team, in real and reel life. For HongKongers, we tell you: this is your chance to be a part of something extraordinary. Part of hope, overcoming fear, strength, motivation, courage – all the while making a real difference in innocent lives. See you on the red carpet!

]]>In the bustling city of Hong Kong, a Hindu Temple stands as a beacon of spirituality and community. Located proudly at Happy Valley in Wanchai, was a gift to the HK Hindu community and beyond by The Hindu Association, who established the holy premises on 15 February 1953 after twentyseven years of extensive planning and hardwork. The construction of the temple was encouraged by the already strong presence of Hindu community in HK and the cascade of flow of Indian immigrants into Hong Kong post the Indian subcontinent partition era, including a lot of traders who found opportunity in trades of cotton, silk and opium. The temple was welcomed with great fervor, gratitude and warm reception by the Hindu community then and till date continues to thrive and serve as an important social, cultural and religious landmark for not only Hindu devotees, but also to the wider demographic who seeks to attain a better understanding of Hinduism and contribute to our society in meaningful ways. It’s one of the largest of its kind in Hong Kong. The present significance, influence and devotion to the temple is an ode and testament of the dedication of our community towards our values, heritage, roots, customs, traditions and most importantly, our strength as a religious institution.

[ PC: Temple Association; Gathering of people during the Puja Celebrations]

Over the past four decades, Lal Hardasani, President of the Hindu Association, has been an integral part of this sacred place, serving as the Trustee of the Temple and overseeing its activities meticulously with unwavering dedication. Together with a 15-member Managing Committee, they convene regularly to discuss the administration of the Temple. In a heartfelt message, President Lal Hardasani has assured all devotees that their needs will always be met, emphasizing that their suggestions and ideas are not only welcome but also encouraged–”we are always there to serve you and help you when you need us the most”. He’s one of the first visionaries to take initiative with respect to transformations and pioneering needed changes in the temple under his tenure of Presidentship. His call to actions and dedication has inspired plentiful support from the community. He is a firm believer of “Kaam hai toh naam hai”, a.ka actions back up your words and hence your reputation. With a commitment to ongoing improvement and a vision of serving the community even better in the years to come, the leaders stand ready to provide a place of solace for all who seek it.

We’d also like you all to meet ‘Maharaj’ Deepak Sharma, the esteemed priest who undertakes the sacred duties bestowed upon him by the devoted community. Within the sacred confines of the Hindu Temple in Hong Kong, a revered figure stands as a guiding light, leading the faithful through the intricate tapestry of religious ceremonies and rituals. Hailing from a lineage of revered priests, Deepak’s journey of family priesthood led him from the ancient city of Lucknow, India to work in Dubai to finally Hong Kong, where he now serves as the spiritual custodian of the Temple. Endowed with a degree of Bachelor of Commerce, and a wealth of professional experience, his expertise in Hindu traditions is unparalleled. With grace and devotion, he seamlessly conducts an array of religious ceremonies, from joyous occasions like marriages and engagements, to the significant milestones of namkaran, mundan, and janya (Thread Ceremony) ceremonies. Deepak shares, “Despite being new to the unfamiliar realms of HK, my sense of curiosity and continuous learning drive led me and my wife, Neha to seamlessly integrate into the temple’s environment and worshiping duties.” Maharaj’s presence infuses each ritual with a sense of profound reverence and solemnity, and for all of us looking to embrace our traditions, we find a guiding hand and enlightenment in Deepak ji and his devotion.

The duo also shared with DesiFlava their mantra to success –“To be successful in life, you need 4 things–Vision, devotion, hardwork and grace of God which will come via your efforts in fostering your connection with him.”
Under the committee, The Temple has managed to maintain a commendable transparency, with a clear record of accounting, ledgers, receipts, donations and financial reports in the Treasury. The accounts are circulated to all the members of the committee during the Annual General Meeting.
What are the activities in the temple and how can you get involved?
Under their diligent guidance of the leadership team, the Hindu Temple has flourished into a vibrant hub. There is a special Sunday ‘bhajan’ session every week, from 11:30-1:00 pm, attracting a massive gathering and fostering a sense of unity and togetherness among the Hindu community. After the Bhajan Kirtan session, ‘aarti’ is performed in the morning and ‘Langar Prasad’ which is an impressive five-course vegetarian lunch is served to devotees funded by community contributions. Mondays witness a special ‘aarti’ during the evenings followed by ‘prasad’ distribution to the worshippers. It is also known as ‘Abishek’ symbolizing Lord Shiva’s togetherness with us each passing week. The temple makes special arrangements for pooja items like garlands to be specially sourced from Singapore and India–a dedicated group of devotees brings handmade materials and food to join in the celebration. Regular Poojas and Aartis are performed daily in the morning and evening. In addition, regular Poojas are conducted on Poornima and Ekadasi days every month. Services are in Hindi, with some English used.
The Temple also observes and celebrates all the major Hindu festivals with great enthusiasm, pomp and show, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and religious traditions of the Hindu community. One of the prominent festivals celebrated is Deepavali, also known as Diwali, which is a vibrant festival of lights. It is observed over the course of three days and involves lighting earthen oil lamps, fireworks, and the exchange of sweets. Another significant festival is Hanuman Jayanti, which commemorates the birth of Lord Hanuman. Devotees fast, recite prayers, and engage in the chanting of sacred mantras.

Holi, the festival of colors, is another joyous occasion celebrated with utmost joy. Participants play with colored water and powder, sing special Holi songs, and engage in bonfires to symbolize the triumph of good over evil. Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, is marked by fasting, devotional singing, and recitation of sacred hymns. Navaratri, meaning “nine nights,” honors the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. Devotees observe fasting, offer prayers, and participate in cultural programs and traditional dances.
The Temple also celebrates Karwa Chauth, Radha Ashtami, Rakshabandhan, Shivratri, RamNavmi and Dussehra among the many other important Hindu festivals. These festivals bring the Hindu community together, fostering a sense of unity and devotion. These are especially popular times to visit The Temple, attracting about 600 to 800 celebrants.

The Hindu Association offers the service to the Hong Kong Hindu community, arranging the Crematorium, completing the formalities that are required to be fulfilled with the relevant HKSAR government departments, and ensures the availability of the Crematorium as early as possible.
What’s new?
The temple is a declared Heritage Building – Grade II by the HKSAR Government. The Old Building To cater to the need of evergrowing expansion of our Hindu community as well as to address the needs of accessibility and adequate spacing, the Hindu Temple has undergone rigorous renovation over the last few years, spearheaded by its community members and has emerged to be a victorious and bigger backdrop for Hindu devotion, yoga, meditation, spiritual lectures and marriage ceremonies. Completed wellahead of its 70th anniversary, the repairs and enhancements in the renovation include new carpeting, tiling, flooring, waterproofing, air-condition configurations, re- painting of the idols, installment of a TV in the temple’s Mohan Hall to facilitate spectators’ viewing on special crowded events. The decoration and marble pieces were especially imported from India for the works. Several functional areas like office, conference room, storerooms, kitchens, additional halls were expanded and developed. The temple has therefore significantly expanded in capacity and all the works have cost approx 30 million Hong Kong Dollars.
Deepak Maharaj Ji shared, “ The Hindu temple has made remarkable strides in embracing digitization and leveraging technology to enhance community engagement. By replacing traditional pamphlets with interactive flyers, we’ve reduced paper waste while providing a more immersive experience.” Their consistent presence on social media platforms, including a dedicated Facebook page, the introduction of WhatsApp broadcasts has allowed them to reach a wider audience and disseminate important information and engage in real-time conversations. Through these efforts, the temple has successfully created a more dynamic and accessible spiritual hub. The temple continually invites and gracefully accepts generous donations throughout the year, with the latest Octopus machine installation making it easier for devotees to contribute.
Given the growth driven mindset of the Temple’s leadership team, there’s an array of new spheres, avenues and accomplishments that is entered by the Temple very frequently, and we bring to you the most notable ones in the recent times:
1) Immersive act on Ravan Dahn: The temple seeks to offer more memorable experiences, and choreographed a drama dance act for the first time in a short notice during Dussehra. The Ravan/demon was also created from scratch in-house rather than extensively outsourcing it. It received widespread positive critical acclaim from the audience, encouraging the administration to plan future productions like Ramleela. Participation is encouraged via responses in broadcast channels.
2) Establishment of Ganpati ji with God’s grace for the first time, which was usually otherwise done by the Maharashtra Mandal.
3) Remembrance Day: The slope behind the Temple embodies the graves of the valiant Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the First World War assisting Britain’s army. In an endeavor to honor their legacy, the Temple has been observing a special Remembrance for the brave at 11 am every 11th November since the last three years. The service is carried with full customs, traditions and salutes in presence of esteemed guests and VIPs. It has been noticed and lauded by the Defense Ministry of India who has committed to providing unwavering support to the mission. This initiative takes the Temple a long way into standing with the Indian community with an unflinching love and solidarity.

The local Hindu temple aims to make the most of its ample land on the slope behind by transforming the slope into a green space for growing flowers, fruits, and vegetables, in line with ecofriendly practices and the ‘Go Green’ mission strongly advocated by the Temple.. It plans to strengthen as a cultural center, collaborating with the Consulate General of India and local Indian affiliations to organize yoga, meditation and Ayurveda camps in the Temple. While the installation of a lift or escalator is delayed due to legal and structural-feasibility concerns, temporary lift chairs have been swiftly ordered from the U.K to address accessibility concerns.. These initiatives reflect the temple’s commitment to community enrichment and sustainability.
There are a plethora of ways to get associated with this wonderful mission and community. Schools and universities often organize educational tours to visit the Temple for insights into Hinduism– not only as a religion but as a way of life. They consist of students across all walks of lives, nationalities, and religions– who are simply curious and want to seek knowledge. You can also serve as a volunteer, the application form for which can be obtained on their official website. Individuals of all faiths are welcome to visit during opening hours (9am to 1pm and 4pm to 8pm daily). Family events such as birthdays, weddings , anniversaries, prayers etc. can be held at the Temple after prior registration with detailed information about the activities planned and permission granted by the Management. Visits to the Temple during the festival Poojas described earlier evoke a deep sense of belonging, contentment and reinvigoration.
We also discussed with Mr. Lal on the dwindling spirituality amongst the young generation and how to bolster their beliefs and endeavors. Mr. Lal pointed out as to how the parents should take an active role in cultivating a sense of belonging among children and encourage the habit of visiting temples so the children can continue the tradition and legacy. He also shared the active collaboration of the Temple with local HK universities, attracting large masses of students towards the cultural and festival special events. The Indian students often also bring their international friends, which further boosts the inclusivity and diversity of the temple. The appointment of the priest, Deepak Ji, who is himself quite young, has been an instrumental force in gravitating the younger generations via his usage of latest channels and techniques for communication and propagation, for eg, social media.
It’s a great place to get involved, embrace your spirituality and honor your culture. Incase of any other queries or additional information needed, the temple always loves hearing from you. You are highly encouraged to join the Temple’s powerful community via Whatsapp broadcast channels, follow its Facebook page, or by contacting Maharaj Deepak Sharma – Mob – 852 -5624 2399 for finding current requirements of the Temple and help accordingly. God bless!

]]>We all want to be happy, to have fun, have a roof over our head, good food to eat, to be safe, to be healthy and to be loved. And we all have talents that we have been gifted with. We might build our houses with unique materials and tools, cook our food with different ingredients, talk in a different language, but a chicken is a chicken, a hug is a hug and a smile is a smile.
We all have bumps on our road that we travel. We might think we are the only ones to experience what we are feeling. Nope! You are not alone.
When I had brain cancer in 2008, which is when some of the cells in the body are not working properly and they are acting wonky, I did what I needed to do with my husband’s support. I focused on getting better, I took my supplements, had chemotherapy, the special medicine that got rid of the cancer. I ate nutritious food, stayed away from processed foods and remained calm and focused on all of the positive things. Our minds are very powerful so focusing on what we want, not on what we don’t is the key.
When I had lost my memory and then was diagnosed with the brain cancer, this was terrifying for me. I would not leave the apartment by myself and if I got lost I would stop and cry. We all may feel scared at some point but if you can, face it, and, bring it out into the light and talk about it. Then it may not seem as bad and this will help to release those emotions out of your body. Also taking some deep breaths in and letting them flow out will also be of benefit to you.

Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy idea. Earl Nightingale
My husband and I have travelled to over 65 countries and we have learned – We are all One.

Once my memory had returned, if I got lost I would then get mad. But this feeling would not help me figure out how to get to where I wanted to go. It did not serve me. Stopping to take a breath in and out, then thinking about the situation first will be more beneficial to you and will help you figure out a solution instead of getting frustrated or mad.
As I mentioned, when I got lost I would just stop and cry. I was not able to process where to go or even ask someone for help because of having had the memory loss. When my memory was coming back I slowly gained my confidence to go out and do the things I used to do and ask people for directions to where I wanted to go. Sometimes it takes some steps and tools to gain confidence. When you take these steps you will feel great. It might be a small step, trying something new, saying hello to someone you don’t know or going somewhere you have not been before.
Oh yes, and I still made sure I farted! The two large plates of broccoli I ate and the chemotherapy I had for the brain cancer gave me a lot of gas. The farting made me laugh. And laughter is the best medicine when you are not feeling well. And yes we all do this! Being able to laugh when we are going through something that is not so nice helps to relax our bodies and our minds.
I had my husband shave my head when I had brain cancer so my hair would not fall out in clumps. I did this because when I was 14 years old, I had a type of childhood cancer and my hair had fallen out.
This was very embarrassing because I was liking boys. Once my husband shaved my head, people would stare at me. This was very upsetting. My hair actually never fell out due to the large amount of supplements I was taking. But after awhile I felt better and started looking at people again when I got my memory back and this built up my confidence.
You may feel upset or sad about something but remember, we all feel this way sometimes. It is okay. Just remember you can create some tools to shift yourself out of these feelings.
It is not a competition between you and other people. You are not competing with others to achieve what you desire. There is room for all of us to succeed. I have written 23 children’s books and 4 books for adults. As well, I have also written a chapter called Perseverance, Resilience, Empowerment in the book My Voice Vol 6 and became a best-selling author. I could think, ah there are so many other people also writing books. How will I be successful? Shifting our perspective allows us to see that we can succeed and help others who can also support us. We all have a wealth of knowledge to share from our different backgrounds.

So you never know what is going on in someone else life. Just remember we are all the same with our emotions, with wanting to succeed and to be accepted just the way we are. And we all live on the same planet. Planet earth. For now!

Each one of you has something that you are drawn to that you like or like to do. You might like painting, or reading a book, playing a sport, singing or dancing. Or something completely different. That is perfect. Trying something that interests you even if you don’t succeed at first is not failure. It is growth because you have learned something for the next time you try. When we see others who are very successful on TV or you hear about on the computer, or in real life, most people have focused on what they desire, took steps to achieve this goal and persevered, meaning they did not give up. Being happy for the success of others creates an energy around you that will also help you in your success. Focus on the good of you and the good of others. This brings to you people, situations and ideas that will help and support you with what you want to achieve.
This means each step you take toward what you love to do is success.
Steps to Accomplish What You Desire/Takeaways
Ideas/Tools that I used to help me move to a more beneficial space to create from
• Meditation.
• Shifting our focus to ideas that are beneficial for everyone.
• Write down your goals and steps each day to achieve them.
• Focus on seeing yourself already having accomplished what you set out to do.
• Create your own ideas that will support you to return to a calm state and feel confident.
• See the other person as maybe not understanding what you may be facing and that what they did or said may have had an impact on you.
• Focus on the good of you and the good of me.
• Try saying hello to a person in their language. They will really appreciate this.
• Ask people for help. I had tremendous support from my husband, family and friends.
• There is room for everyone to succeed. There is abundance everywhere.
• Respect yourself and others and live in harmony

]]>The post Expert Insight about Hong Kong and India Legal System first appeared on A-Desiflava Magazine.
]]>Hong Kong is a well-established financial center in the world and at the same time India is growing as a global economic power in recent years. Both Countries have their own demographics and economic structure but we will analyze their legal system with a legal luminary Mr. Vishal Pancholi a well known lawyer of India and residing in Hong Kong for more than 14 years. We interview him with regard enforcement of Hong Kong Arbitration awards in India. Here are the excerpts of interview with lawyer Mr. Vishal Pancholi
Q.1 How would you compare Hong Kong and Indian legal systems?
Ans: The Relationship of Hong Kong and India with regard to business arrangements from both sides are very long, Hong Kong Companies do business in India and vice versa. Hong Kong is Asia’s world city and door for business gateway to China and South East Asia Region. From the point of legal system both countries have developed their own procedures and practice as per their social, political and business environment and changes. India has been an arbitration friendly country right from the beginning, because arbitration was prevalent even before the codified law came into force. In the pre-court period the leaders of the communities and the elders of the families used to act as arbitrators and people used to obey the decision of those arbitrators.
Q.2. Is there any connection between two Jurisdictions with related to Arbitration Awards?
Ans: In a notification in the official gazette by the Indian government in 2012 and recognition of China and Hong Kong arbitration awards in Indian courts was taken as welcome move by both the Jurisdictions. Now the shipping disputes and trade related disputes between companies in India and Hong Kong are well within the jurisdictions of both the courts.

Q.3 Is Arbitration is the most appropriate and affordable way to adjudicate the matter or settle the dispute between two parties?
Ans: Arbitration is much faster way of out of court resolution of dispute between two parties decided by impartial third party. You don’t require any court room, jury and formal procedure to adjudicate the matter. Arbitration is cost effective way of resolution of matter out of court. The features like speedy process, cost effective way and privacy make its clearly beneficial for both the parties
Q.4. How Indian Courts can enforce the arbitration awards of Hong Kong in India?
Ans: In 2012, India confirmed that it will add the Peoples’ Republic of China (including the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao) to the list of socalled “gazetted” states. The approach of the Indian court to enforce the arbitration award is still in the process of evolvement. The Supreme Court (“SC”) judgment in Government of India v. Vedanta Limited and Others while noting that a foreign award does not become a “foreign decree” at any stage of the proceedings, the SC held that enforcement of a foreign award takes place only after the court is satisfied that it is enforceable under Part II of Chapter I of the Act. The foreign award has to pass the muster of Sections 47 and 49, after which the award becomes a ‘deemed decree’. Following the 2015 amendment to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, the Indian courts have maintained their approach of minimal intervention in cases concerning the enforcement of foreign awards. The courts have stepped in to prevent enforcement only on limited grounds and in a few select cases. Even in such select cases, the threshold for convincing the court that an award should not be enforced is high. Therefore, it appears that enforcement is the norm and refusal is the exception. The idea of foreign arbitration award enforcement in India is getting rolled with lot of pace and Indian courts are finding a lot of applications for enforcement of Foreign Arbitration Awards in India

Q5. Finally, do both the Hong Kong and India moving closer for more dispute resolution methods in Commercial disputes?
Ans: Arbitration is the way forward step to move closer in the dispute resolution in both the jurisdictions. Indian government is opening the legal sector for the foreign law firms on the reciprocals basis and soon we will see more changes not only in both jurisdictions but legal sectors as a whole. I think India and Hong Kong has much wider scope to move closer in future with respect to future changes in laws in both the countries.

]]>We must find creative solutions to pivot to greater heights in our fields and cross over into other sectors.
It has been interesting to see how we as humans have been able to respond to our needs and wants and continue to find ways to expand our experiences. We have done so by using our instinct to find key communication opportunities and build mutually beneficial goals.
In the past decade, we can all testify to witnessing some successful collaborative ideas that have built some of the most groundbreaking partnerships, such as Spotify and Hulu, Northface, and Gucci, and one that has shown the power of teamwork is Uber.
We all remember when Uber was launched; the aim was to get us from one place to another while finding cost-efficient and secure solutions to getting around. It was liberating and met our need as commuters to have a safe, efficient, and costeffective transport system. Today, you can order food and most of your essentials and have them delivered by Uber Eats. The expansion of Uber services to what it is today highlights how a collaborative idea can serve multiple needs and create numerous services for all parties involved.
Collaborations!!
Let Us Look at Google’s definition of the word, ‘A joint effort of multiple individuals or work groups to accomplish a task or project.’ They say it takes a village to raise a child; how true is this sentiment when you have a big dream still in its infancy? We witness the power of collaboration in all spheres of our lives, from parents using each other’s strengths to coparent their kids —to a small village working together to build a school to support their educational needs. We also experience collaboration when we need to work with our colleagues for a greater goal, and most importantly, we use collaboration in our relationships and rely on our common purpose to build acceptance, tolerance, and understanding. Finding ways to collaborate supports us in expanding our experiences, sharing special moments, and creating support structures to have a meaningful life. Teamwork can be a challenge. While we rely on others to build a solid foundation for our business partnership, this process can become more difficult in the initial stages of building your brand. Small business owners across the world depend on collaborations to expand their business. We always find simple and effective ways to meet our business needs, and relying on your ability to produce creative solutions can help you build collaborations aligned with your core values and have more meaning to your brand story. Small business owners need to become mindful of their process of finding partners and creating valuable working relationships. Gone are the days when marketing and PR were the only way to communicate with customers. Today, smart collaborations have become a creative way to expand services and build more prominent brands.

Mindful collaborations allow you to assess each partnership’s value to your business and help you make decisions that align with your brand’s core values. Before you can start looking at who to work with, identifying and unpacking your brand’s communications blueprint will help you articulate and become more creative in finding opportunities. To get to this point, unpacking your SWOT analysis can become a powerful way of addressing your core value as a brand. Knowing what you need to communicate based on this will support your mission to create valuable relationships. In the communication industry, we call this ‘strategic communication.’ It is a mindset to set a positive intent with your conversations and be clear on your longterm vision with your potential collaborators.
Here are some tips on how to start the journey toward identifying your collaborative needs as a small business owner: Strengths: Focus on your strengths to transform your business. Identify three things you think you can expand on or are working on for your business, include them in your business’s essential vision and mission, and find a way to use them to engage and seed collaborative opportunities.
Weaknesses: Be Innovative It can be challenging to sit and look at what needs to be fixed and unblock these critical areas within your business offering. When you identify some areas that are moving slowly or not moving at all, do not dismiss them or see them as something to park and not improve on. Your weaknesses can form part of your mission and become one of your greatest strengths. If you could improve at service delivery, make that a positive mission, find people to engage with, and start working towards improving this part of your business, and form it as part of your communication tactics to highlight your ability to improve.
Opportunities: Find your impact and be inspiring The world is your playground! Think out of the box and allow yourself to see your brand in places that will take it to the next level. Consider looking at the apparent collaborations, some entirely out of your sector but could one day create a new value chain and expand your offerings. Take up that speaking opportunity at a makeup workshop and showcase your boutique shop as a platform to host a beauty event around ‘self-care.’
Threats: Fall Forward Keeping abreast of the areas that could limit your growth and hinder creative opportunities is vital. If you have become aware of a longterm threat, such as finding leads due to a cluttered industry where everyone is doing the same thing, find a new way to ‘crowd-source’ your potential customers. Identify it quickly and start working on finding solutions.
How do you start finding solutions (Do’s and Don’t’s)
• Set up a creativity workshop with your team or as an individual to create a transparent, relaxed, and innovative sharing environment.
• Don’t hold back; come up with as many collaborative ideas as possible, and then use the process of Pros and Cons to reach your final decisions.
These small but practical, mindful solutions to your business growth can change how you see things and start communicating and finding collaborative opportunities for your brand. Looking at it from self-introspection as a brand and doing the inner work, you will find solutions that best suit your business needs. In a short while, you will start to create a brand with a longer value chain; most importantly, you will continue to enhance your brand, remain energized, and be ready to take charge of the direction of your business.
