Johnny Spoiler crawls into the radioactive ruins of Roger Corman's post-apocalyptic creature features The Terror Within (1989) and The Terror Within II (1991). Humanity is hiding underground, mutant Gargoyles are running wild in the Mojave Desert, and apparently the greatest threat to civilization is a monster that looks like a Sleestak from Land of the Lost on steroids.

These bargain-bin Alien knockoffs have everything: mutant monster babies, rubber-suit wrestlers, suspiciously familiar blowtorches, and creatures that can survive lasers but somehow lose fights with ceiling fans.
Johnny digs into the bizarre Hollywood connections behind these cult horror sequels, including Andrew Stevens' surprisingly massive producing career, his legendary mother Stella Stevens, and R. Lee Ermey's refreshingly practical reason for appearing in the sequel: he needed to pay for his house.

I'm BACK, all you ghouls, goblins, fiends, and fiendettes! Welcome to SPOILAWEEN, where we're digging up cult horror classics, disturbing movie news, and creatures that probably should've stayed buried.
This week on Binge-Watchers Podcast with Johnny Spoiler, we're heading beneath the streets of New York City for C.H.U.D. (1984), the radioactive sewer monster movie that asks one very important question: What's really living underneath our cities, and why does the government keep dumping things down there?
Starring John Heard and Daniel Stern, C.H.U.D. delivers cannibalistic underground mutants, glowing monster eyes, toxic government secrets, and one of John Goodman's earliest movie appearances.
Here's the surprise: I've never watched the original C.H.U.D. until now! I've seen the ridiculous horror-comedy sequel, but the first movie is a completely different beast. The actors take the absurd premise seriously, the fully formed monsters look fantastic, and a few unexpected moments actually caught me off guard.
My verdict? BINGE NOW. A very mild Binge Now. Barely. But those sewer-dwelling monsters earned it!

This week, we're reviewing The Incomer (2026), the bizarre Scottish fantasy comedy starring Domhnall Gleeson, Gayle Rankin, Grant O'Rourke, and John Hannah. Two isolated siblings have spent 30 years living on a remote island, surviving on oysters, seagulls, and their father's number-one rule: NO INCOMERS. Then an awkward government official shows up to relocate them, and all hell breaks loose.
We're talking mythical seal-men, seagull ceremonies, a vegan trying to survive on an island full of carnivores, and possibly the greatest use of an iPhone in a fantasy movie. It's weird, it's hilarious, and it has a surprising amount of heart. Johnny doesn't hand out many BINGE NOW ratings, but this one might just deserve it.
But first, the Home Video Headlines!
John Goblikon, the internet's favorite heavy-metal goblin, has a bloody new horror-comedy web series called No One Survives. Meanwhile, Don't Breathe 3 is in development, with Jane Levy and Stephen Lang set to return. And Jamie Foxx is heading to Amazon Prime Video with Deadlocked, a courthouse hostage thriller that sounds like Die Hard with jury duty.
Plus, this week's Fan Service and Staff Picks:
A listener wants to know which is better: the original Alien Nation movie with James Caan and Mandy Patinkin or the cult-classic television series. Johnny revisits both, including the alien biology, buddy-cop action, and the surprising differences between the two versions.
And for this week's Staff Pick, we're revisiting Seth Rogen's gloriously uncomfortable 2009 dark comedy Observe and Report. Forget Paul Blart. This mall cop has some serious problems.

]]>Johnny Spoiler is back to audit somebody else’s life for a change, and this week we’re digging up one of the strangest forgotten movies of the ’80s: EAT AND RUN, the 1986 sci-fi horror-comedy about a 400-pound alien named Murray who develops an appetite for the residents of Little Italy.
Yes. This movie actually exists.
Detective Mickey McSorely is trying to convince everyone that a giant alien is literally eating New Yorkers while Murray gets arrested, wins a court case, gets released on bail, dates a judge, and continues his culinary tour of Little Italy. Somehow, Mickey eventually winds up in more legal trouble than the extraterrestrial cannibal.
We get into the movie’s bizarre history, its New World Pictures connection, Ron Silver playing the whole thing surprisingly straight, Pat “R. L.” Ryan’s connection to Street Trash, the off-screen kills, the Pavarotti gag, and why an 85-minute movie this insane still managed to lose Johnny before the final act.
HOME VIDEO HEADLINES: Nick Nolte and Milo Gibson head into full-moon horror territory with Vested, Mikayla Matthews explains her exit from Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and Johnny takes a detour through Utah involving Yellowstone locations, questionable steak sides, and the Blue Sapphire.
We also preview The Musical, the dark comedy starring Will Brill, Gillian Jacobs and Rob Lowe that sounds suspiciously like somebody stole a movie idea directly out of Johnny Spoiler’s brain.
STAFF PICK: Music and Lyrics — Hugh Grant, Drew Barrymore, fake ’80s pop music, and songs catchy enough to make you wonder why more fake movie bands don't release real albums.

Can Ali G still work in 2026?
Johnny Spoiler breaks down the Ali G comeback, what we know about Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie, the return of his undercover mockumentary style, and the growing debate over whether Ali G remains brilliant satire or a character whose comedy belongs to another era.
Then somehow things get even stranger.

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper plays one of the last fertile men alive after nuclear war destroys civilization. His mission? Enter a city controlled by mutant frog people, rescue fertile women and help save the human race.
Oh, and the government straps an EXPLOSIVE CODPIECE to him to make sure he cooperates.
Welcome to Hell Comes to Frogtown.
Johnny revisits the insane 1988 cult sci-fi comedy, its incredible practical frog makeup, bizarre production history, reduced budget, abandoned casting possibilities and the sequels somebody apparently decided the world needed.

]]>In this movie reaction episode, we dive into Light Sleeper (1992), Paul Schrader’s most personal entry in his unofficial trilogy of men who hate their jobs (Taxi Driver, American Gigolo). Willem Dafoe prowls a damp, neon-soaked New York as a drug dealer facing addiction, aging, and emotional extinction, while Susan Sarandon plays a quiet, hypnotic queenpin who feels more like a memory than a boss. Dana Delany surprises, Sam Rockwell and David Spade pop in, and Schrader turns midlife crisis into mood.
Before the main event: Common Toxic Love Traits (2026 Edition)—weaponized therapy-speak, soft-launched relationships, digital surveillance romance, manifesting instead of communicating, and why millennials don’t get divorced… they just divide Paramount+ and DVD collections after the free trial ends.

Fan service hot takes on Mad Max and Back to the Future

The main event breaks down Romeo Is Bleeding—a corrupt NYC cop seduced by a ruthless Moscow crime boss—with behind-the-scenes facts, Tom Waits trivia, brutal mob moments, courtroom chaos, and why Lena Olin’s Mona feels like a loaded gun aimed at the audience for the entire runtime. We talk broken ribs, real stunts, moral emptiness, and why this movie insists that redemption is a lie life doesn’t care about.

We also cover behind-the-scenes trivia, Mel Gibson’s stunts, timeline continuity across the Mad Max trilogy, and why “We Don’t Need Another Hero” became one of the most unforgettable movie songs of the 1980s.

]]>Before we get to giant stone gods and sulfur pits, Johnny opens with a cold open on a recurring problem: people keep comparing him to Elvis Presley — usually at the worst possible times, like buying pizza at a gas station. Is it the sideburns? The sunglasses? The curse of compliments from strangers? The comparison stops here.
From there, we hit Home Video Headlines, covering:
Mickey Rourke’s financial struggles and the dark side of fame
Why actors hide in day jobs
Clickbait movie rankings, overrated awards chatter, and why Bonanza still beats Deadwood
Directed by Kazuo Mori, Wrath of Daimajin follows a group of children on a deadly journey to rescue their enslaved fathers from a tyrannical lord forcing villagers to mine sulfur in Hell’s Valley. As blizzards rage and bodies fall, the ancient stone god Daimajin awakens, delivering one of the most haunting monster finales of the 1960s.
We break down:
The film’s Stand By Me–style adventure with demons instead of bullies
Shocking second-act brutality
The evolution of Daimajin from stone idol to flesh-and-blood avenger
Why this sequel might be the best film in the trilogy
Johnny also digs into the movie’s strange U.S. release history, mis-titled home video versions, late English dub, and why this is one of the most overlooked gems in Japanese genre cinema.
Binge Now. Emotional, brutal, beautifully staged, and unforgettable — proof that third entries don’t always fall off.
Plus:
Fan service shoutout to Larry Z and the eternal logic of Surf Ninjas
Staff pick spotlight on Denzel Washington’s time-travel thriller Déjà Vu

Yes—this is real. And yes—it somehow works.
We break down why Beastmaster 2 became a cable-TV classic (so overplayed on TBS it earned the nickname “The Beastmaster Station”), why it’s the only truly fun Beastmaster movie, and how its mix of fantasy, comedy, and 90s culture makes it endlessly rewatchable.
Along the way, Johnny Spoiler digs into:
Why the “time portal” is actually a parallel universe
The return of Kodo & Podo (ferret continuity corner)
Why the animals get sidelined in favor of dimension-hopping brother drama
Wings Hauser delivering elite B-movie villain greatness
James Avery (Uncle Phil!) as the exhausted L.A. cop archetype

Happy holidays… and watch out for Martians.
In this episode, we break down the cult holiday nightmare starring Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams) as possibly the grizzliest Santa in cinema history. There’s only one elf (it looks like a goblin), it kills with a steak knife, Santa smokes in every scene, and the movie somehow aired on broadcast TV despite profanity, nudity, and some truly cursed plot twists.
Along the way, we cover:
Why Christmas was once outlawed in Massachusetts
Evil elf mythology & Nazi Christmas lore
The most uncomfortable mid-movie reveal you’ll ever see
Why Dan Haggerty is way too good for this movie

Johnny breaks down how a temperamental figure-skating ice queen and a washed-up hockey bruiser accidentally melt each other’s hearts on the road to Olympic gold—despite neither actor knowing how to skate before filming, a fractured ankle mid-shoot, and sequels so bad the original stars wanted nothing to do with them.
Along the way, we cover:
Why The Cutting Edge is secretly one of the most relatable working-class sports movies ever
Factory jobs, bar work, and surviving the “two years later” grind
Moira Kelly’s chaotic injury run and near-miss with A League of Their Own
Why figure skating partnerships are way more intimate than anyone admits
A full compare-and-contrast with Blades of Glory, aka when parody cranked the Pamchenko Twist up to a homicidal Iron Lotus
Holiday feel-good vibes that don’t ignore sadness—because that’s how emotions actually work
