We who have experienced the new birth and come into relationship with our  G-d have been blessed beyond anything imaginable. While it is true that any one of us under certain circumstances may succumb to a flesh failure. It is also true that because of this unique and privileged relationship we enjoy that our G-d will not hide His face from us for long nor will His kindness and mercy ever leave us without a way of return.  When the child of the Most High finally realizes the depth of G-d’s love for them, it serves as the catalyst for an even deeper relationship based not on what we do or not do but on who G-d is. There may be times when we need His strong Hand to correct us but that Hand is always measured out with mercy, kindness, and absolute love.

The Ancient Wells were places where people came to get “life” giving water and were often times blocked up with “earth dirt debris” by the enemies’ of Abba’s people. In all warfare the opponents first priority is to control the water that feeds the community The enemy knows that if they could stop the “flow” then Abba’s people would capitulate, surrender to them. What made it easy for the enemy to do this was because the “Watchmen” were ASLEEP……. One morning the Word of Adonai came to me and said is this not true of my ecclesia (church) who in times past flourished when they drank of the well’s life-giving waters but who now have been satisfied to drink from stagnant cesspools served up by “hirelings” in the pulpits. Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

I again heard Him say…The time of re-digging the Ancient Wells is at hand but it requires those that are willing to get their hands “dirty” in order to get them opened. There is much “dirt” that needs to be removed not due to any political “ideology” but the dirt that has been placed by many of the “religious” institutions that have been instrumental in throwing “dirt” by the preaching of social ideas, woke philosophy, smooth things which neither challenge nor require men to repent and change their ways and desire to walk in Holiness unto Adonai. My hearts desire is to see these Ancient Wells re-opened and the “Living Waters” once again begin to flow and refresh this dry and weary Land. To once again see the Glory of His Presence, fill the places of our gatherings as the Wells overflow their walls and bathing us in its “life” giving waters. May it be so in our day…..

It was just a normal Monday, as usual, a couple of weeks ago in our home.  I, being a school teacher and off for the summer, was home watching our one year old son while my wife was at work.  It was late morning, and my boy was crawling around the kitchen and living room like he does everyday.  Now, he had been walking with assistance for a couple of weeks prior, using our couch, walls, or our hands.  It was cool to witness.  This particular morning however, while he was sitting on the kitchen floor, decided to use the refrigerator to help himself stand up, and then proceeded to walk on his own, unassisted, all the way to our couch.  I actually said to myself, “Did that just happen?”  It appeared out of nowhere.  I certainly didn’t expect it to happen yet. Well, moments later, he did it again, and again, and again.  Our little boy was now walking on his own!  The sheer joy on his face while bopping around the house is something I’ll never forget.  Although I’m sure he felt nervous and a little scared the first attempt on his own, he decided it was time to give it a shot.  One of the reasons he decided to try was because he felt safe with daddy there and knew I was going to be there for him if he fell.  He had trust in his father. 

Much like our journey through this world and our lives, we may feel nervous and a little scared about decisions we have to make.  Maybe it’s a difficult decision about discerning God’s will:  where to attend church, what career to pursue, or to whom we will say, “I do.” No doubt, they’re some of the bigger decisions, but what about the everyday ones that also matter.  Things like sharing our faith with a co-worker, friend, or family member.  It could be discovering where to serve in our church, finding a small group to get connected, or how to balance our schedule.  The list goes on and on.  Consider the words of Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
And whose hope is the LORD.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not [a]fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit. 

Jeremiah was a priest and a prophet who answered the call of God to warn Israel of the severe consequences of breaking their covenant with God through idolatry and injustice. He predicted that the empire of Babylon would come to destroy Jerusalem and carry them into exile. And sadly, his words became reality. He lived through the siege and destruction of the city and witnessed the exile take place.  He preached for over 40 years without seeing any results.  From our human perspective, Jeremiah certainly lived a frustrating life.  His hope never wavered, however, because he had trust in his Father. He remained faithful and 40 years after his passing, The Jewish exiles began returning home to their land. 

May Jeremiah’s life be an example to all of us in how to put our faith and hope in our LORD. Even when circumstances may seem difficult or impossible, let us rise up and take those first steps. Let us have trust in our Father. He’ll not only take us to places we’ve never thought we could go, but He’ll mold us into something we’ve never been.

Three years ago, I sat at a red light at the end of a highway off ramp. Due to a traffic jam, I took this exit instead of my usual one. As my eyes settled on the building across the street, I asked, “Why today?” This building reminded me of a time I would rather forget.

I remembered a recent talk regarding a nameless woman in Luke 7. With no name given, she is known only as a sinner. Hearing that Jesus was in town, she was determined to get to him. She pushed through any shame she might have felt, not letting the Pharisees intimidate her because of her reputation. When she reached the Messiah, she washed his feet with her tears, and used expensive oil to anoint him. She wanted Jesus, and nothing was going to get in her way.

Waiting for a green light, I pictured this woman and her bravery. I related to how she must have felt walking through all the shame and judgment she and the Pharisees had put upon her. I imagined the joy she experienced when she finally sat at the feet of the one who accepted her, and forgave ALL her sins.

As I drove away, I thought about the incident from long ago that led to my youngest son and myself visiting that building every Wednesday night for months. I remembered how the shame I felt kept me from the love of the Lord and fellowship with loving women who would have gladly walked beside me, without judgment.

21 years ago I let shame stand between me and Jesus. I hung my head and stayed away from Him. I am so grateful He never let go and I have been healed.

When we walk out of our sin and into his redemptive presence, the Lord wants us to leave regret at the door. He wants us to let nothing get in the way of reaching Him. He desires to fill us with his wisdom and shower us with His Love. 

Sitting at that stoplight, which seemed exceptionally long that night, I remembered in Genesis 3:55, God told Jacob to arise and go to Bethel and make an altar to Him. The purpose of this altar would be for Jacob and the people to remember in their time of need, and still remained with them. 

God did not leave Jacob when he made wrong decisions. He will not leave us either. He wants us to build altars, to remember what He has brought us out of. To remind us that we can always choose to turn back to Him. Just as He had Jacob return to where he lost his way. 

The woman called a sinner, let go of what was behind, and gave her All to Jesus. She loved Him with her whole heart, soul and strength. When we do the same, we find ourselves sitting at his feet just as she did.

God does not leave us nor forsake us. He remains true and constant. Think about the times that he has stayed by your side, make altars of those times so that you can remember and so you can pass on his legacy. Today we might not  make physical altars, but we can surely write these things down or record them into audio files so that we can leave them for those who come after us.

Why that day? To remind me, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1.

“He sent forth His Word and healed them…” Psalm 107:20

It was a death sentence. The head of transplant at Mayo Clinic looked up from his chart and said, “Your husband is too sick. Even if we got a new liver for him, and by some miracle he survived the surgery, he won’t make it out of ICU… unless, of course, he’s got good karma.” I was tongue-tied, and disarmed. Had God brought us this far to have it end like this?  

By faith we had obeyed God’s voice to leave our home, our children, our doctors, and our church family to go to Mayo Clinic. It defied reason and yet the LORD clearly called us to go. He spoke this Word: “By His stripes you were healed.” (II Peter 2:24) With childlike faith, we believed and declared His Word aloud despite my husband’s declining health. That word was tested in five near-death experiences, but God gave us grace to stand firm. His Word proved true. Now this. 

I drove home from the hospital in stunned silence, the doctor’s words playing over in my head. A fire of indignation arose within me. Good karma – our only hope? This doctor was world-renowned, but He wasn’t my husband’s keeper. He hadn’t numbered his days or the hairs on his head. He didn’t know the great works that God had already done in preserving his life, and he didn’t have right to the last word. 

The fire continued to blaze as the Spirit reminded me of the words that a godly man had spoken to me a few days earlier that week. “When the doctor gives me a bad report, I take it to the LORD and say, “Father, this is what THEY say. Now, what do YOU say?”  

The next night we went to the house of the LORD and laid the doctor’s words before Him to hear what He would say. About 25 faith-filled believers laid hands on my husband, anointed him with oil, and released healing. I read aloud a passage from Job 33:19-30 that the LORD had quickened to my heart that week. We prayed the Word back to the Lord, thanking Him for sending His Word to heal and deliver.  

The Spirit of the LORD fell supernaturally on my husband that night. His countenance brightened, his heart was transformed, and He was filled with joy. The God of all hope replenished our weary souls. Over the next 10 days my husband’s health steadily improved without medical intervention. He gained weight, grew stronger, and walked without a wheelchair. His test results improved so dramatically that the bewildered doctor said that we should go back to NJ because when the organ donation center reassessed him, he would no longer be sick enough to be at the top of the list. We stood on God’s Word and waited for next steps.  

The next morning, the organ center called to tell us that they had a new liver for my husband. It was a perfect match. The 6-hour surgery went flawlessly, and my husband was out of ICU in 12 hours. He confounded the wisdom of the wise, did what was impossible for man, and received all the glory… without any karma.   

The Word of the LORD proved true. The LORD who is our Healer sent forth His Word to heal and deliver us from our destruction.  Whose report will we believe – the rhema Word of God or the report of human reasoning and sensory knowledge? Will we trust Him in childlike faith when His word is tested or lean on our own understanding and trust in man? As for me and my house, we will believe the report of the LORD. Surely, He is watching over His word to perform it (Jer. 1:12).  

“Father, You sent forth Your Word to heal and deliver us. Jesus, You are the Word made flesh. By Your wounds we were healed.  Thank You for grace to walk by faith not by sight. Thank You, for instructing us in the way we should go and counseling us with Your eye upon us. You always lead us in triumphal procession in Christ Jesus. The battles are Yours. The victories are Yours. Great is Your faithfulness. We exalt and magnify Your name. Receive all the glory, for nothing is impossible with You.”

A certain man was sitting in service on a Sunday morning and noticed up on the platform (high place, alter) was a arrangement of flowers which was once a delight to look at and a blessing to the platform. As he stared at the flowers, he noticed that they were almost entirely dried out and many leaves were already falling off.  He concluded that what was the problem with the arrangement was that it lacked ‘water’. Continuing to gaze upon the arrangement he heard Adonai say, “What you see is a prophetic image of many who sit Sunday after Sunday and never allow the refreshing ‘water’ of My Word to sustain life and continue to be a blessing.” The man asked Adonai, “How could this be?”  Again, he heard Adonai say, “It is because the ground is hardened and will not permit the life giving ‘water’ to soak in.”

On further thought the man recalled times of drought in the town where he lived and when the rains finally came because the ground was “hardened”, the rain simply ran off and did nothing to refresh the vegetation. This is what Adonai says to His church…. Do not harden your heart as my people did in the wilderness when I brought them to Myself. I have sent shepherds among you who faithfully speak the “engrafted” WORD (that which has the ability to soak in) which is able to save your soul and yet you do not receive the refreshing water but allow it to “run” off and be wasted. I have sent worship leaders whose function is to plow open the hardened ground and allow the water to soak in and give life yet you resist the plow giving more attention to fellowship amongst each other then to Me.

Look to the lesson of the flower arrangement and consider… the arrangement in its present condition will eventually be thrown out and the remembrance of it will fade away. The certain man asked “Can this arrangement be restored?”  He concluded with Adonai ALL things are possible and will continue to pray for the RAIN to fall in greater measures.

Psalms 119:71 It is good that I might be afflicted, that I might learn thy statues.

Psalms 119:75 I know thy judgements are right and in thy faithfulness has afflicted me.

If I don’t know the definition of afflicted I might think these verses don’t sound too loving. The Hebrew definition of afflicted is to respond, pay attention, give answer, hear. So the Lord is calling us to respond to Him and pay attention to hear what He wants to show us. The affliction is a hardship that causes us to suffer trouble. It gets our attention so we can learn what we need to be taught. In His faithfulness and love for us.


Hebrew 12:5-11 Declares chastening from God is not joyous, but grievous, but it will produce the fruit of righteousness. The Greek definition of chastening- tutorage, education, training, correction, instruction. It is not punishment of any kind. It is for our profit that we might be partakers of His holiness. Verses 10,11

Many are the afflictions of the Righteous but He will deliver them from them all. 

James 5:13 Any afflicted among you let him pray. Allow Him to fulfill and furnish us with a life that will glorify Him. No matter what we go through.
