Alex, you are so right about all ten points! Thirty years ago this past August, I was a Rotary Exchange Student in Mullumbimby, NSW Australia. I had never been on an airplane, and I flew from Indiana to Australia! I was so excited to do something so different from everyone else, but when I stepped off the plane in Brisbane, all I could think was “oh crap, what have I done?” Then I met my Rotary host family and I knew everything would be just fine! That year abroad was the best year of my life! I remember things about Australia or the wonderful friends I made there every single day. I always encourage people to travel abroad and get a new perspective about the world. Your article says everything I would tell a potential world traveler!

In reply to Raza. Hi Raza! Exchange with rotary is quite open for applicants. You should be between 15 and 18 years old(depends on country) , excited to see the world, show that you are capable of handling the challenges that exchange will present, and have a positive attitude!
