Wicca and witchcraft are popping up in pop culture these days, from teenage witches on TikTok to a Marvel comic superhero called Wiccan. It has even led The New York Times to ask: “When did everyone become a witch?”
Wicca, an alternative minority religion whose adherents, regardless of gender, call themselves witches, began in the U.K. in the 1940s. Wicca and Witchcraft are part of the larger contemporary pagan movement, which includes druids and heathens among others. All these spiritual paths, as pagans refer to them, base their practices on pre-Christian religions and cultures.
Ever since Wicca arrived in the United States in the 1960s, it has been growing – sometimes by leaps and bounds, and other times more slowly. It is estimated that there could be around 1.5 million witches in the U.S.

Tibetan Designs from Dover Coloring Book artist Marty Nobles
Connect with the sacred art of Buddhism through the creative act of coloring. Buddhist art is rich in symbolism and meaning. Taking the time to color and interact with these symbols and motifs is a simple yet profound way to practice mindfulness and move closer to a greater awareness of one’s own essential nature. The drawings in the Buddhist Art book are hand-painted with a small brush by Robert Beer.
The artist Robert Beer’s hand-painted images span centuries of the tradition, including spiritual adventurers, rebellious saints, and enlightened Tantric masters. The detailed artwork is elegant and meaningful—drawing on Buddhist teachings to give each piece greater depth.
Tibetan Buddhists have long seen art as a powerful meditative practice, but you need not be Buddhist to enjoy coloring the fifty illustrations here. These illustrations come from the talented artist Tashi Dhargyal, a Tibetan thangka master based in Sonoma, CA. Previously, he was the artist-in-residence at Jhangtse Khang, a branch of Ganden Monastery in Dharamsala, India.
Since his arrival in the US in 2010, he has taught and exhibited at many museums and galleries.
Though Tashi’s primary focus through 2018 is the massive two-story ceremonial thangka he is creating at his Tibetan Gallery & Studio.
His art graces the pages of this stunning meditation coloring book with 50 illustrations taken from his gallery work.
This book features Zen-inspired illustrations with Buddha quotes and tranquil phrases for stress relief and relaxation
26 designs for colouring and meditation. While mandalas are traditionally considered to be highly complex maps of the cosmos, this book is designed to be suitable for today’s Western practitioners, incorporating the most accessible and relevant Buddhist symbols and imagery.

]]>The post Grief & Loss – Losing a Dog appeared first on Coloring Book Addict.
]]>I’ve not been able to create in any way for almost a year now, but I finally decided it was time to put my love into another dog who was also rescued from unfortunate circumstances from a Southern state.
I saw that one of my favorite coloring book artists created a book for grief after losing a beloved pet. I wish I would have seen this sooner, I’m sure it may have helped.
Joanne Fink was a very important part of my artistic journey. I happened upon her book Zenspirations back in 2016 when Coloring was the newest fad for adults. This book is affirming and cathartic, and n bring healing without sugar-coating the sadness of losing a pet. Everyone who has lost a pet — whether recently or years ago — will connect with the thoughtful sentiments and beautiful illustrations. Throughout the book, Joanne provides hope, healing, and helpful insights to support you on your grief journey as you deal with the challenges of losing a cherished animal friend.
Joanne also has a companion book When you Lose Someone You love
“When our pets aren’t with us anymore, an Invisible Leash connects our hearts to each other. Forever.” That’s what Zack’s friend Emily tells him after his dog dies. Zack doesn’t believe it. He only believes in what he can see. But on an enlightening journey through their neighborhood–and through his grief–he comes to feel the comforting tug of the Invisible Leash. And it feels like love.”
If you’ve ever loved a dog, you know the joy they bring is matched only by the heartbreak of having to say goodbye. “Dogs in Heaven: A Mandala Coloring Book” is more than just a collection of illustrations—it’s a heartfelt journey of healing, celebration, and remembrance for anyone who treasures their furry companions. By Marina SQ
About the author “I’m Mariana SQ, a dog mom who lost her fur baby… and became a writer through everything her absence taught me.
For 12 years, I shared my life with Blacky — my companion, my little girl, my soul dog. Losing her shattered me. I learned that when a pet dies, you’re not just saying goodbye to a dog… but to your routine, your identity, and a piece of your soul.

]]>The post How to Organize & Store Adult Coloring Supplies appeared first on Coloring Book Addict.
]]>There are so many storage options that I will just be sharing and several that might meet your artistic needs, we colorists are all so uniquely individual.
Blicks has the largest selection of organizational tools just for artists (that’s us!) that I’ve ever seen!
I honestly don’t know how I lived before I recently discovered the RASKOG rolling cart. Once you have one you might want more. I’ve watched numerous video reviews on Rakog versus the Michaels Brand and Costco brand and everyone agrees that the RASKOG is da bombdiggity in all sorts of art supply storage. What I love most about it is how sturdy it is AND that I can store ALL of my colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and books all in one spot and then roll it away when company comes. You can also clip an LED light on the edge of it in case you need more light in your family room which is where I always end up coloring.
If you have an IKEA store nearby then go buy one. I promise you won’t be sorry. They no longer have the aqua blue color (BOO!) so I bought the cream and if I get really ambitious I’ll spray paint it. However, I don’t think I can live long enough without it to do that.. so I may just wait for them to bring out a blue again. They are super easy to put together and SO sturdy. The middle shelf can be moved up or down but I just left mine right in the middle.

Dick Blicks has a huge assortment of rolling storage items
The other alternative that is almost as good is the one at Michaels, it looks pretty identical but isn’t quite as sturdy. It’s part of Michael’s Everyday Value selection so you can’t use your 40% off coupon on which makes it pretty reasonable. The advantage is that they DO have lots of color selections.

Lexington 3 Tier Cart comes in Mint, White, Coral, Pale Pink (Blush), Lemon Yellow, Bright Pink, Champagne, Rose Gold, Grey & Black.
Some people like to keep their pencils in the original tins but I find these less than satisfactory. I find I like to color all over the place, in front of the TV, our library coloring events and on the patio at Starbucks so I want my pencils to be easy to transport. I have been lusting after these cute pencil rolls on Amazon that hold 72 sticks of color and on Amazon Prime Day they went on sale so I snagged 3 of them.

The price for the 36, and 48 are the same as for the 72 pack so I’d get the largest one. You can also fit your gel pens and watercolor pencils easily in these bags and there are extra-wide slots at each end to hold your eraser, water brush or other coloring tools.
Amazon US – Amazon UK (This seller does not sell in Canada)
They come in 2 sizes, 72 pencils or 160 pencils. I’d opt for the big one even if you only have 72 pencils for now, you will likely get more or it can also hold your gel pens or markers.
Click to order any of these gorgeous colors in the 72 size! The teal pictured, lilac, hot pink, grey, brown and black. These measure 7.8″ x 5″

Pencil (or Pen) Roll-up Pencil Cases
The BTSKY Pencil organizers are great! They are sturdy canvas and zip-closed. They also come in dozens of colors & patterns and capacities from 72 – 200.

This zippered canvas bag opens to reveal all 72 of your colored pencils and received rave reviews from verified purchases (Not the “I got this for free” folks) One reviewer even said he got all 150 of his Prismacolors in with room to spare.
Click to order Amazon US – Amazon UK – Amazon Canada (Canada & the UK seem to have a different seller but the case looks identical)
Finally, a zippered canvas bag that fits all your Prismacolors in one place. This one comes in several colors too. 150 elastic spots for pencils or pens + 10 extra spots for blenders, your Gelly Roll Clear Glitter Pen, White Gel Pen for highlighting, Eraser pencils and whatever else your essential tools are.
Click to order Amazon US – Amazon UK – Amazon Canada
I originally purchased the Derwent Canvas bag that holds quite a few supplies along with 132 pencils and it also has extra sleeves available for even more pencil storage. The zippered pockets also hold erasers, sharpeners, and other supplies for you in this nice sturdy bag with a shoulder strap.
Two pencils fit in each space on the 3 dividers that fit on the binder rings and you can buy more of these if you have more than 132 pencils. Pens also fit nicely in this bag but it’s not big enough to stick a full-size coloring book into but the postcards and portable books fit nicely in the inside or the outside pocket. There is a zipper pocket inside for your erasers and sharpeners. The shoulder strap is removable. I have had this for about 9 months now and it is still in perfect condition. I did buy an additional set of sleeves and there is still room spare. Click to Order
(You might already have 1 (or 50) 31 bags in your closet already and any of those with lots of pockets are perfect.
I found this stackable interlocking storage and now have two of them.
That top blue part is removable too which is what I did and then I used that little bin to store my erasers and sharpers and other ephemera. This is where I store my markers since they are to be stored horizontally versus vertical.
I have used these workhorses for years in my craft room, books in the bottom, pens, pencils. and whatnot in the top two drawers. You can wheel it out to your TV room or bedroom while you are working, and put it away the rest of the time.
(Note: mine is pretty much always out unless we have company!)
Wooden Storage Drawers are quite popular for those folks who have a dedicated area to color in.
These pencil drawer storage units are very popular, be sure to read the reviews for the one you are buying as some manufacturers are better than others. If you have a collection like I do you will probably need more than 1.
2 Drawer Storage can organize about 90 pencils or a set of 72 with blenders erasers & a few Gelly Rolls.

If you prefer to see all your colors at once you might like these upright colored pencil holders like this one I found on Etsy. It holds 50 pencils so you might need more than one, or if you have a handy person around, get them to make one for you.
This Etsy store has some gorgeous pencil wraps with really cute fabrics, she says you can mix and match which fabrics you want as well. This one holds You can fit about 140 pencils, about 3 books or several coloring pages.

There are all sorts of cute handmade pencil organizers here to shop through on Etsy as well.
If you are a DIY kind of person, the Doodle Craft Blog has step by step instructions to make this cute pencil organizer.
Or this one! it only fits 25 pencils, though. I’d probably decorate any of these that I bought, to be honest.
Art Carousels are another option to store your pencils, just spin this lazy susan organizer to reach all your colors
This clear plastic pencil organizer doesn’t spin but does have 120 slots for your pens pencils and markers
I have a bit of a mason jar obsession, if you need a storage solution for everything in your home, this is my go-to. For you Kawaii lovers, this is perfect for you, or just leave them without the faces as I have done.

]]>During Dios de Los Muertos it is a common practice to decorate gravesites or construct small shrines or altars adorned with pictures and other personal mementos of one’s ancestors. Brightly colored and fragrant marigolds are placed as a means of guiding the souls of the deceased to reunite with their family.
Other common decorations include calacas and calveras (skeletons and skulls) which, unlike what is typically found during Halloween, are not used to invoke fear, but rather to depict the happiness and enjoyment of life. Intricate and ornately crafted sugar skulls are often given as gifts to family or friends.

]]>A Year of Magic & Fairy Tales is a year-long, immersive mixed media art course that explores the many facets of magic, story, and wonder, both in art and in life. This enchanting adventure is hosted by renowned artist and author, Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts. She is joined by 30 incredible guest artists to provide you with a truly magical creative experience! On this course, we dive deeply into the realms of fairy tales, story, and everyday enchantment, discovering how magic and imagination can transform our art, emotions, and self-expression.
Creativity and crafting can be incredibly healing for people! I have always wanted the healing power of creativity to be available to as many people as possible, so we try to keep the price, for a year long course, with so much content, as low as possible. The course is valued at over $3500, but can now be bought for ONLY £179 (or approx $240 USD depending on exchange rate). That covers the entire year. Say what?!
You get a year filled with incredible lessons and inspiration for only a fraction of the retail price, is that awesome or awesome? There is no catch here, just me and a bunch of awesome artists wanting you to have access to a ‘library’ of inspiring, enchanting & educational art lessons that help you enrich your art and life. Simple as that.
I looked for art classes in my area in watercolor and painting and drawing and couldn’t really find much but to improve the look of my Facebook newsfeed I’d started following artists in all areas that appealed to me. I tend to love looking at bright happy colors and beautiful whimsical characters, mermaids, and fairies, hand-lettered pages, and bits of ephemera adding to the artisticness of the piece. That opened me up to all of the artists across the world that give art classes online. What’s cool is that these classes in many ways are even better than going to a class locally because I don’t have to pack up all my supplies and I can stop the teacher and rewind everything they say whenever I need to. Many of the classes are lifetime access and some even allow you to download the videos of the classes for your own use.
I really can’t explain how much I am enjoying this art journaling -art therapy – get messy and happy experience led by Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts. She heads up a team of a whole bunch of wonderful artists who share new lessons with our big group of loving and lovable beginning-to-expert artists to learn and enjoy.
Life Book 2017 opened up my art world and improved in Life Book 2018 but then I took a break in 2019. 2023 was amazing and I was introduced to some new fun & fantastic artists
It doesn’t matter that this class has already started, you have access to all the lessons for LIFE now AND you can download them to use offline whenever you’d like as well.
You’ll also get to experience the wonderfully kind, talented artist from Australia, Toni Burt.
I was introduced to Toni in my very first Lifebook course in 2018 and have followed and taken courses with her ever since. I so love her style and admire her sweet demeanor and kindness as she teaches beautiful watercolor, ink and collage lessons. admired and have wanted to learn from. I love the way Toni uses watercolor in easy to play with ways with faces in her work. Several of my favorite paintings are a result of her simple face sketch instructions. I was actually brave enough to frame this one and hang it in my home. This girl is a watercolor, graphite pencil, and ink completed in early 2022.

60 cat designs are made up of hundreds of triangles that, when filled in, transform a flat illustration or 2D piece of work into a 3D image. Each page has a different breed of cat from the ordinary to the rare. The color keys on each page allow you to use either traditional colors or bright non-realistic colors for a pop art look. Some of the cats have quite tiny spaces to color while others are a bit larger. This reminds me of those picture puzzles in crossword books where you didn’t know how the picture would turn out until the end.

“The book was supposed to have a magical, spooky-cute theme. I was delighted with this idea, because it is what gives me great fun in creating. The next step was to create a coherent story for the book, so I focused on showing the reader one long and eventful day in the life of a cute witch kitty. For this purpose, I had to build a fairy-tale world for my main character, full of magical creatures, potions, imaginary plants and spells. Since I was a child, I have a very vivid imagination and I have
always been interested in the world of witchcraft and magic, so it was a very cool challenge!

The Beauty of Horror: A GOREgeous Coloring Book from Alan Robert on Vimeo.
A little interview with the artist…
Q1. What do you enjoy drawing the most?
Alan Robert: I have always been really into drawing monsters and creepy stuff, ever since I was a little kid. My first memories of drawing were around the time I saw the original Star Wars movie in the theater (1977), I was only six! I loved the Tusken Raiders and all of the wuld creatures in the Cantina scene. Really inspiring for me. All throughout school, I took art classes and eventually received a scholarship to The School of Visual Arts in NYC. While earning my bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, I studied under the legendary comic book artist Walter Simonson (The Mighty Thor), who I learned a tremendous amount from.
Q2. How did you get started? AR: Well, I was all set to try and become a professional comic book artist straight after graduation (1993), but the rock band I formed with some childhood friends had just landed a record deal. It seemed like recording an album and touring the world was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I decided to put the art on hold and pursue the music. The band is called Life of Agony and it became very successful in the 90s. For over two decades, we’ve shared stages with the biggest names in rock, including Metallica, Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band is still very active and has a new record coming out in 2017 called “A Place Where There’s No More Pain” (Napalm Records).
Anyway, somewhere around 2010, the band was on break and I never lost my love for comic book storytelling. I got my big break from award-winning publisher IDW Publishing when they agreed to release my original horror comic series titled “Wire Hangers,” which I both wrote and illustrated. The series developed a following and I continued to release more titles through IDW every year after that. Series include “Crawl to Me” and “Killogy.” Crawl to Me is in the process of being adapted into a live-action feature film, and Killogy is being developed as an animated series and video game.Q3. Who or what has inspired you?AR: Growing up I was inspired by comic artists like Mike Zeck (The Punisher), Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Dave McKean (Batman: Arkham Asylum), Frank Miller (Sin City), etc. Inspiration also comes from films. I’m a big movie guy. I soak everything in. I’m also inspired by trying new techniques. I purposely challenge myself to try different styles when taking on new projects. In fact, each of my books has its own unique look to them. This was done intentionally. Sometimes it takes me several months to refine the style before beginning the actual pages.
For The Beauty of Horror: A GOREgeous Coloring Book, I tried something completely new. I inked the pages using consistent, thin line weight. No use of shadows, no thick outlines. That was a challenge for me, especially coming off my last comic series “Killogy” which was done using a lot of thick, heavy strokes and shadows. Q4. What materials do you enjoy using? AR: My pen and ink illustrations are mostly done by hand, scanned into the computer and then digitally enhanced. For inking, I mostly use Pigma Microns on Bristol Board. Q5. Do you like to color in your designs or prefer to have others do that? AR: For my various comic book series, I colored everything digitally in using Adobe Creative Suite. It’s been a lot of fun having complete creative control…especially since I am illustrating my own stories. That being said, I am so looking forward to seeing what colorists out there do with my illustrations from The Beauty of Horror! That is really super exciting for me. I am constantly blown away by the posts I’ve seen online by adult coloring book enthusiasts. There are some seriously incredibly talented people out there. Q6. What supplies (brands) to you recommend for your book(s)? AR: I personally enjoy Faber Castell Polychromos sets and LYRA Rembrandt Polycolors, but as I’ve learned by creating my own art, sometimes you need to try new things in order to find the right style. I’m always eager to try a new brand out.
Q7. What is your favorite coloring book other than your own? AR: All of Johanna Basford’s books are amazing. I also really dig the Animorphia series. Q8. What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t doing art? AR: Spending time with my family and rockin’ on stage with Life of Agony. Q9. Who is your favorite coloring book artist?AR: Johanna Basford. Q10. Can you tell us about any other projects you are working on?AR: We are wrapping up the latest Life of Agony record and headed out on tour overseas in November & December. The record drops in early 2017. Other than that, my film production team and I are gearing up to film the live-action Crawl to Me movie this winter… and you never know, with all the excitement surrounding The Beauty of Horror, I just may have to draw a sequel! Readers can find out more: on Alan Robert’s Official Website
