2021 rolled around and weddings were looking a little different for everyone․ Jenna & Nealon made the best of a challenging time and surrounded by their families and closest friends started the next chapter of their lives together at the very classic‚ and one of my very favourite venues in Winnipeg‚ The Fort Garry Hotel․ It was perfect․
The entire day was flawlessly planned by Melanie Parent Events (one of the best in the biz‚ genuinely)‚ and so beautifully documented by Casey Nolin whose photos I can look at forever․ The look was soft and romantic‚ from florals in white‚ cream and soft pinks‚ to the most gorgeous touches of rich greenery throughout the day․ It was the kind of mood board that makes a designer’s heart sing‚ and I used every bit of it as the foundation for their full stationery suite․ For their invitation suite I designed a card and large RSVP card‚ stitched together with one piece of gold fine twine․ This styling was so simple and understated‚ without feeling overdone․ It was a small detail that translated beautifully in photos‚ but also felt so special to hold in your hands․ Their day-of stationery pieces‚ from the ceremony to the reception‚ included a showstopper seating chart and a sweets table sign and bar menu that carried the look throughout the rest of the event․ Table stationery included table numbers‚ menus and place cards so that every seat in that room felt considered and polished․ This was one of those projects where the couple’s vision was so clear and so lovely that my job was mostly just to translate it beautifully onto paper‚ and I think we did exactly that․ Five years ago feels like a lifetime ago‚ but this wedding still just as beautiful!

]]>Here’s the Secret to a Wedding That Feels Like It Was Designed, Not Just Planned.
There is so much more behind your wedding design than you think. I believe your wedding is a branding project.
Many of you know, by day, I’m the Marketing Manager at 365 Technologies, a local MSP here in Winnipeg. I have spent over 15 years in marketing, working with brands, logos, colour palettes, typography, brand voice, and keeping a cohesive look and feel through every touchpoint to ensure it is on brand. I live in this world every single day, and what I know from doing this professionally for so long is this: when a branding campaign works, every piece feels intentional. The website, social posts, emails and ads, they all feel like they belong to the same story. When you see something in the wild, you KNOW it belongs to that brand. When a campaign doesn’t work, you can always feel it and often, that feeling comes from something deceptively small. Maybe the font doesn’t quite match, or the colours are close, but not exact. Our brains register that friction even when we can’t seem to put a finger on it.
Your wedding is no different.
What a Brand Actually Is
Let’s start here.
A brand is a person’s perception of a product, service, organization, experience or person. That’s it. Logos, colour palettes and fonts are a part of it, yes, but a brand is ultimately the feeling someone is left with every single time they interact with it. It lives in other people’s minds, and the job of good branding is to shape how that brand is perceived.
In marketing, we talk about the five C’s of branding. Consistency means every touchpoint looks, sounds and feels like it came from the same place. Creativity means the visual identity is memorable and distinctive, not generic. Clarity means that the message is simple and easy to understand. Commitment means showing up with the same standard every single time. Consultation means that every design decision comes from understanding you first.
Every single one of these principles applies to your wedding. Your wedding has a colour palette, a style, a tone, a personality, and a feeling that you want every guest to feel. It starts with opening the envelope to your save the date or wedding invitation, and ends when they walk out of your reception after your wedding. It is built entirely around the two of you.
That is a brand… and it’s exactly what your wedding deserves to be.
The Six Chapters
Let’s think about everything your guests interact with on the way to your wedding day:
- Save the dates
- The invitation suite
- Your wedding website
- The signage at the venue (welcome sign, seating chart, bar menu, etc)
- Table numbers, menus, place cards…
- Thank you cards after the wedding
These are not six separate things. This is actually a single experience, spread across up to six different chapters.
When each of these pieces look like they were created together, the whole day feels considered, polished, and intentional. I’ve said it before, I will die on this hill: your stationery is your guests’ first glimpse at your wedding day, and first impressions matter more than people realize. Before they see the venue, before they hear the music, before they walk through those doors, they’re holding something in their hands that shows what kind of celebration they’re going to be a part of.
Your invitation suite is doing more than you think. It hints at your colour palette, signals the formality and style of the wedding and helps guide guests on what to wear. It shapes expectations that they carry with them when they walk into that venue. Think of it as the opening line of the story, and each piece that’s a part of it, is a continuation. It brings together your florals, decor, and all the other beautiful elements of your wedding. When the chapters don’t match, you can feel it.
As a Marketing Manager by day, this is what I have in my mind for each and every wedding project.
It Goes Beyond the Paper
A cohesive wedding is not only about the stationery, obviously. It’s about every single piece coming together to create something that feels complete. The stationery pulls the visual story through, but so does the venue, the florals, the decor, tablecloths, centrepieces, lighting… I could go on. Is it full of lush candles and warm tones? Is it bright and vibrant and full of personality? Is it elegant and understated, or maximalist and bold? Each vendor you hire and each selection you make is nothing more than another brushstroke in the same painting.
The stationery is where I come in, and where the brand gets established from the vision you came up with. If you have a wedding planner, they help refine your vision into a beautiful moodboard which I then use to shape that vision.
Because of my experience in branding and marketing, I bring that same level of intentionality into everything I design. I’m not just choosing a pretty font (real moment: picking a font is probably the largest part of this process. Own 10,000+ fonts, yet still seek more to make sure it’s perfect). I’m thinking about hierarchy, consistency, the way the eye moves across a piece and the feeling a guest will feel when holding it. I’m thinking about how the design structure will hold up for your day-of pieces, and how it will all come together to tell the same story from beginning to end.
Why This Should Matter When Choosing a Stationer
We have so many talented designers in this market who are so good at what they do. Most of them have a signature aesthetic, a lane they stay in, a style you can spot from across a Pinterest board. If that style happens to be yours, that’s fantastic!
But that’s not how I work, and it’s one of my favourite things about my business.
Fifteen years of brand strategy means that I’m not coming into your wedding designs with a pre-determined idea to apply. I come with the expertise to look at your vision, understand it the way a marketer understands a creative brief, and translates it into a full story that’s entirely and completely yours. Minimalist and modern? Yes, please. Dark and dramatic? Let’s go! Maximalist and over the top in the best possible way? Heck ya! Every wedding I design is a brand new (pun intended!) creative problem, and I absolutely love it that way!

Some wedding stories are straightforward. Couple gets engaged, couple plans wedding, wedding happens. Tessa and Sylvain’s story was not that, and their stationery suite wasn’t either.
Like so many couples who were planning weddings in 2020 and 2021, Tessa and Sylvain ran into wall after wall. Restrictions. Postponements. They made a decision that a lot of couples made during that time: they eloped. Just the two of them, a ceremony, and a photographer. They still wanted the big celebration with their family and friends, but they weren’t waiting any longer to be married. When restrictions finally lifted and the reception planning was back on, they came to us for their invitation suite.
Because Tessa and Sylvain had already been married, they already had wedding photos. Real ones. Theirs. And for the first, and so far only time in my career as a stationery designer, I was able to do something I’d never done before: incorporate a couple’s actual wedding photography directly into their invitation suite. Real photographs from their real wedding day, printed as part of the paper goods their guests would hold in their hands. That doesn’t happen. The timeline of a wedding simply doesn’t allow for it. Stationery goes out months before the wedding date, which means photography doesn’t exist yet. Tessa and Sylvain’s situation made the impossible possible, and we took full advantage of it.
Every suite I design has a story behind it. This one has a story that still stands alone.

Our All Inclusive Wedding Stationery Package was formally introduced in 2021 – can you believe that? It’s been my most popular package every year as we’re heading into five years of this service. I want to tell the story of how this package came to exist, and why so many couples choose Asarye Paperie + Studio’s All-Inclusive Wedding Stationery Package.
It started with a pattern...
Asarye Paperie + Studio officially launched in 2019, after years of hesitation. I had been thinking about starting this business for five to seven years before finally taking the leap and signing up at my first wedding show.
It was an unusual year to begin anything new, let alone a wedding-related business, but what stood out immediately had nothing to do with uncertainty or timing.
At that first wedding show in 2020, I spoke with hundreds of excited couples who were excited to begin planning their weddings and as those conversations repeated themselves throughout the day, a clear pattern began to emerge: Most couples had no idea what they actually needed when it came to wedding stationery.
They knew they needed a venue. A photographer. Possibly a planner. There is so much information available to help couples navigate those decisions. But when the conversation turned to stationery, things felt noticeably less clear.
Questions were repeated often. Do we need a full invitation suite?What pieces are essential, and which are optional? What kind of signage is actually needed on the wedding day? It became obvious that once couples slowed down and truly thought about wedding stationery, they realized how difficult it was to figure out what they needed, and when they needed it.
Wedding stationery simply isn’t as intuitive as many other vendor categories and I found myself feeling frustrated on behalf of couples who were trying to make thoughtful decisions without a clear roadmap.
This was the problem I needed to solve.

What couples actually needed wasn’t another menu of options or a growing list of add-ons. They needed something that would would be simple, that would give them everything they needed, not be presented with a million options, and not have to stress about whether or not they forgot something. They needed guidance.
That’s where the All Inclusive Wedding Stationery Package came from. Instead of treating wedding stationery as a series of separate decisions made months apart, I built a package that considers everything together from the start. Invitations, day-of stationery, signage, quantities, timelines — all of it planned as one complete system rather than a collection of individual pieces. The intention was simple: give couples everything they need for their wedding day. Period. Full stop.

From the very beginning, my goal with this package was never to upsell couples on things they didn’t need. That has always been at the very core of my business. The package exists to help couples make informed, thoughtful decisions without pressure, to receive everything they need and trusting that every detail has been considered. Whether your wedding is large or small, elaborate or understated, my role is the same: to support couples with clarity, honesty, and care. I’m truly not here to sell for the sake of selling. I am here to help make your wedding meaningful through thoughtful design and planning. Over time, I’ve watched how this approach has changed the experience for my couples. Clear timelines, a clear understanding of what you get so you never have to question… stationery stopped being something they worried about and instead became something they were confident in leaving in capable hands.

Not every wedding stationery story starts with a couple. Sometimes it starts with a vision. This styled shoot at Willow Acres in Winnipeg was built around one: soft, minimal, and quietly beautiful, with every detail chosen to let the stationery breathe.
The collection featured a wedding invitation suite, menus, and place cards, all with deckled edges that gave each piece an organic, handcrafted quality. Deckled edges are one of those tactile details that photographs beautifully and feels even better in person, and in a light and airy setting like Willow Acres, they were exactly right.
The invitation suite set the tone for the whole shoot. Minimal in layout, intentional in every choice, and finished with that soft torn edge that keeps things from feeling too polished. For Manitoba couples drawn to understated elegance, this is wedding invitation inspiration worth sitting with.
The menus and place cards carried the same energy throughout. Clean, considered, and cohesive, the kind of wedding stationery that doesn’t compete with the florals or the venue but makes everything feel more complete because it’s there.
This shoot is a reminder that Winnipeg weddings don’t have to be loud to be memorable. Minimal stationery done well has its own kind of presence, and this collection at Willow Acres is a perfect example of what that looks like from invitation to place card.

Some weddings just have a feeling. The kind where every detail layers into something bigger than the sum of its parts, and Kaylene and Connor’s wedding at Pineridge Hollow was exactly that. Lush, floral, vibrant, and deeply personal from start to finish.
We were so thrilled to design a full wedding invitation suite and day-of signage and table stationery that matched the energy of this wedding: bold florals, rich colour, and a warmth that carried through every single piece. Their wedding invitation suite was a three-piece design anchored in those signature blooms, a nod to the florals that would fill every corner of their celebration at Pineridge Hollow. Day-of, the stationery story continued with a full lineup of acrylic signage: a welcome sign, seating chart, bar signs, and table numbers that brought cohesion to the venue and kept things feeling intentional throughout the evening. The menus were one of those details guests actually noticed. Each one was personalized with guest names, and the floral details were colour-coded by meal selection, a thoughtful touch that made service seamless for the catering team and felt elegant to every person seated.
Perhaps the most meaningful piece of the entire Kaylene and Connor wedding stationery collection? Their thank you cards. Rather than sending them after the wedding, Kaylene and Connor hand-wrote each one before the big day, so every guest left with a personal, heartfelt note already tucked away. How incredible is that?

]]>I had the pleasure of joining a styled photoshoot facilitated by Allie Reardon-Duaqui, the owner of Kinloch Grove! I can’t say enough great things about Allie and all their raving reviews speak for themselves! I was actually invited to join in-person for this event but unfortunately, a lupus flare prevented me from being there.
The event featured a vibrant disco theme, with the collaborative energy of all the vendors who brought the vision to life. The day was nothing short of gorgeous! Don’t forget to check out Kinloch Grove and All Seasons Catering, they have crafted two all-inclusive wedding packages to impress every client, and ever guest.
It was an inspiring and exciting opportunity to be part of such a creative event! Hopefully in 2026, I can be there in spirit AND in body!

With a new site and new, exciting things for 2025, I’m over the moon about sharing my life with you!
As you know, I’m a wedding stationery designer located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada! Let’s be honest, I’ve tried to start a blog so many times, but I haven’t followed through. A 2025 goal of mine is to commit to regular updates. I want to share the exciting, beautiful weddings I get to work on and stories about my life!
a fresh start for 2025
If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know a little about me, but I want to be an open book this year! Like many solopreneurs, I’ve struggled with balancing what to share versus keeping some things private. They say it’s best to show the person behind the business, and that’s my goal! Truthfully, I’m not comfortable in front of the camera—I’ll always choose faceless posts over a full-face selfie (yep, I’m shy!). But this year, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to share more.
a bit about me
Describing who I am is no small feat. I’m a lot of things! I’m a mom to two amazing boys, 10 and 8, and a wife to the most incredible guy in the world.
This fam-jam keeps me unbelievably busy. Between the day-to-day hustle, hockey rinks, football fields, family visits, and scheduling playdates, my days are full—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Growing up, my two siblings and I played tons of sports. My parents never missed a game, and I want to create those same memories for my kids. Sure, it means I’m busy almost every day, but I know these moments will be gone in a blink, and I don’t want to miss a second.
My Football Star
My older son, J, is an amazing defensive player. This lanky kid can take down opponents twice his size with one hand—it’s wild. I have so many videos of him owning the field. He loves football, and I hope he sticks with it because he’s incredible.
My Hockey Champ
My younger son, L, plays hockey and couldn’t make me prouder. Even though he didn’t make the A1 team, he didn’t let it bring him down. His growth as a player this year has been astounding. He gives it his all and leaves everything on the ice. Plus, he plays with his best friend, which makes it even more fun!
My Other Half
I met my husband while working for Ticketmaster. It was one of those “not looking for love” moments—until he walked in. He probably thought I was a weirdo…until he didn’t (or maybe he still does). We’ve been married for 12 years, and I can’t wait to spend decades more together. He’s my biggest supporter, ally, and occasional pain in the butt (especially when he nags me to rest and avoid burnout…and he’s right).
the 9-to-5
Balancing the 9-to-5 and My Business
Yes, Asarye Paperie + Studio is a part-time business, but make no mistake—it’s as valid as any full-time venture. I’ve found a perfect blend between my office job, family commitments, and business. Why mess with success?
I work as the Marketing Coordinator for Bootlegger, and I can’t explain how much I love it (and not just because my boss might read this ). My job lets me combine creativity, organization, and even math—it’s the perfect mix! In my two years here, Bootlegger has evolved so much, and I’m excited to see what 2025 brings.
A Day in the Life
As the Marketing Coordinator, I touch so many different channels: daily eblasts, SMS, paid media, etc. But it’s not just about the day-to-day; we’re always planning ahead. In December, we’re already deep into planning for Summer 2025. The images you see here are from our Winter 2024 campaign, shot at the Fairmont Winnipeg and around downtown Winnipeg. While we shot in September, our designers worked magic in post-production to add wintery vibes.
Bootlegger is one of five clothing brands I work with. Over the past year, I’ve supported Suzanne’s Fashions and managed billing and invoicing for our entire marketing department. I got to build a robust Excel file for our billing projects—nerdy, I know, but so satisfying!
how asarye paperie got started
It’s the classic tale: I planned my wedding, designed my stationery, and fell in love with the process. Growing up, I was always an artist, but I thought art should stay a therapeutic hobby. I didn’t want to risk losing my love for it by turning it into a career. Big LOL at that now.
The Journey
I started at the University of Manitoba, pursuing psychology, but it wasn’t the right fit. I then trained to become a paramedic, graduated, and was fully licensed. While waiting for a position, I worked as an advertising assistant at McDiarmid Lumber and fell in love with marketing. I stayed, got promoted, and eventually moved to B.A. Robinson until I had my kids.
Like many parents in Manitoba, I struggled to find daycare, so I opened a licensed home daycare, which I ran for nearly seven years. As my kids grew older, I launched Asarye Paperie + Studio on November 15, 2019, by signing up for the 2020 Wonderful Wedding Show.
Fast forward to today: I celebrated five years in business this year! The past two years have brought incredible growth and ideas that I can’t wait to explore in 2025. This site, my business, and my direction are all evolving, and I’m so excited to work with amazing couples in the coming year!
