]]>In fashion, David has achieved significant national recognition. One of his milestones was winning 2nd place in the Indonesia Young Fashion Design Competition (organized by Indonesia Fashion Week), a key platform for young Indonesian design talent. He also winner on First Place in the Central Java Modest Design Competition (organized by Bank Indonesia), earned a Silver Medal at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival in the fashion category, and was named a Top 10 finalist in the Modest Fashion Project organized by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. These accolades complement his broader journey of participating in numerous design and creative industry competitions.
For David, these achievements represent more than just a list of awards; they are part of a long-term process of building his identity and consistency as a creator. Through his brand, David Bryan Atelier & Couture, he develops works that blend design exploration, construction, and aesthetics with the wearer’s personal character.

Interestingly, David’s creative journey extends beyond his role as a designer. He has also served as a jury member for various competitions spanning fashion design, carnival costume design, modeling, and pageantry. These experiences have broadened his perspective on the evolution of the creative industry and connected him with young talent from diverse regions.
David has also been engaged as a show director consultant for various brands, assisting in the preparation of fashion shows—specifically regarding choreography and presentation. This role requires the ability to translate a brand’s visual concept into a stage experience that is communicative, dynamic, and full of character. In the realm of education, David founded Lasa Entertainment School, an institution dedicated to nurturing young talent in modeling, fashion, public performance, and the creative industries. To date, the school has produced hundreds of alumni who have achieved success in their respective fields. For David, building a creative education ecosystem is a way to open doors for the younger generation, encouraging them to confidently develop their potential and enter the creative industry professionally.
Beyond fashion and education, David has also established himself as a creative entrepreneur. His ventures include businesses in the F&B sector, “Bustiwear” (a wardrobe rental studio), and “Explorent” (an outdoor gear rental service). He is also preparing for the 2026 launch of “Ornovaz,” a ready-to-wear brand that marks the next step in expanding his fashion business portfolio.
Despite being widely recognized for his work in the fashion and creative sectors, David remains engaged with his academic background: architecture. To him, architecture is not merely a profession left behind after graduation, but a foundational mindset that informs his various creative works and professional activities.
His architectural education trained David to think conceptually and to pay close attention to structure, proportion, function, detail, and the relationship between people and space. He applies these principles to the worlds of fashion and the creative industries. When designing clothing, for instance, David views garments not just as aesthetic objects, but as constructions requiring structure, proportion, and functionality—pieces capable of defining the wearer’s character.
“Architecture taught me that an idea shouldn’t remain just a concept; it must be translated into something possessing structure, function, and value. That mindset proved highly relevant when I entered the worlds of fashion and creative business,” David said.
This multidisciplinary journey forms a vital part of David’s identity as an alumnus of UNDIP. He does not view his background in architecture and the fashion world as conflicting, but rather as two disciplines that can enrich one another. Skills in design, systematic thinking, visual understanding, and creative process management serve as the foundation for the various fields he pursues.
For David, the courage to grow beyond the boundaries of his academic discipline does not mean abandoning what he studied. On the contrary, the knowledge gained during his university years can serve as a foundation for creating new opportunities in the fields he explores. From architecture studios to fashion runways, and from designing garments to building creative education ecosystems, David consistently embodies the same spirit: creating work defined by substance, character, and impact. His journey serves as a reminder that education is a starting point, not a final boundary. With a solid knowledge base, the courage to explore, and a commitment to lifelong learning, an alumnus can carry the identity of their alma mater into diverse professional realms.

]]>Ary advised that, alongside technology advancements, future generations are expected to be more skilled than their predecessors. The accessibility of social media can be leveraged to broaden one’s horizons and enhance personal capabilities—particularly in architecture, a field closely linked to technological progress.
“Future generations must be more advanced than those that came before them. Students also need to explore beyond their immediate surroundings. I am confident that with determination and a drive to broaden their perspectives, they can achieve future success. Undip is certainly a highly regarded institution, thanks in no small part to the active role played by its lecturers,” Ary concluded.
