]]>TPB’s CSR program brought together 22 TPB member-volunteers alongside key institutional partners: the Save Palawan Seas Foundation (SPSF), which implemented ground development projects, and the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), whose President, Ms. Malou Japson, spearheaded the mentorship of TPB Members and local stakeholders on the creation of voluntourism packages.

The delegation supported Sitio Calabugtong, a coastal settlement of 145 households in Taytay. Here, volunteers turned over school supplies, classroom repair materials, solar lighting setups, and essential household items. To boost local food security, the team conducted a banana sowing activity. In El Nido, operational gear and support were extended to the Dewil Eco-Mangrove Association, capped by a mangrove planting effort to reinforce coastal ecosystem resilience.
To ensure holistic product development, the itinerary combined grassroots immersion with destination evaluation. Participants conducted hotel site inspections and engaged in an island-hopping circuit across El Nido’s premier eco-tourism spots. The activity culminated in a dedicated networking session and a voluntourism mentorship talk led by Ms. Japson, equipping local stakeholders and operators with actionable strategies to design commercial travel packages that balance leisure with social responsibility.

Marking the formal close of the program, the delegation paid an official courtesy visit to the Municipal Hall of El Nido to engage with Mayor Edna Gacot-Lim and align ongoing regional ecotourism efforts with local government priorities. As part of this final leg, the team officially turned over essential operational gear and supplies to the El Nido Tour Guide Association to directly support their daily stewardship and guiding operations.
“Our goal is to redefine how we explore the Philippines by embedding voluntourism directly into mainstream travel,” says TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles. “By working hand-in-hand with local leaders from the Municipal Government of El Nido, SPSF, and PHILTOA, we are empowering tour operators to create sustainable packages that drive real economic and environmental renewal.”
Through initiatives like SUSTAINABILISEA Phase 2, the Tourism Promotions Board continues to strengthen its commitment to regenerative tourism models that uplift host communities, protect critical biodiversity, and inspire travel operators to champion meaningful, impact-driven journeys across the Philippine archipelago.

]]>The post Andrew Robertson named CEO of Omnicom Advertising as Troy Ruhanen retires appeared first on adobo Magazine Online.
]]>“Troy has been an exceptional leader whose impact on Omnicom and our industry cannot be overstated. His leadership was instrumental in bringing together our combined organization while strengthening our ability to serve clients and create opportunities for our people. We are grateful for his many contributions and wish him every success in retirement,” said John Wren, Chairman and CEO of Omnicom.
Andrew Robertson, currently Chairman of BBDO Worldwide, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Omnicom Advertising, effective immediately. Having spent more than two decades as a leader within Omnicom, Robertson brings valuable expertise, long-standing client relationships with marquee global brands, and a demonstrated track record of building high-performing teams. He will work closely with Ruhanen during the transition to ensure a seamless hand-off.
“Andrew is a proven leader with a deep understanding of Omnicom, our clients, and our industry. I look forward to working with him on the continued development of our advertising group, particularly his commitment to ensuring creativity remains at the core of what we do as we advance our AI and technology capabilities,” added Wren.
Omnicom Advertising continues to set industry benchmarks, recently welcoming Subway, American Express, and BBVA as new clients while all three of its creative networks ranked in the top 10 at Cannes Lions this year. Its visionary client work has allowed Omnicom to be recognized as the World’s Most Effective Holding Group in the Effie Index for three years in a row, and its agencies have consistently been recognized by Fast Company as among the Most Innovative Companies for the past eight years.
“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to work alongside some of the most talented people in our industry. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. With the integration complete, this is the right moment for me to retire. I have profound confidence in Andrew and our leadership team,” said Ruhanen.
“Our plan is clear,” said Robertson. “Secure a disproportionate share of the world’s most exciting creative and strategic minds, equip them – through Omni – with the industry’s most advanced AI enabled tools and data, to deliver exceptional results for a client list that is the envy of our competitors.”

]]>The post Omnicom unveils “The Art of Influence” following Cannes Lions 2026 appeared first on adobo Magazine Online.
]]>In its 2026 Cannes Lions recap report, The Art of Influence, Omnicom argues that attention is now only the entry point. As AI makes content and scale increasingly replicable, the advantage shifts toward what remains distinctly human: taste, judgment, cultural fluency, creativity, and a point of view.

Across The Omnicom Space, that idea surfaced through conversations spanning brand building, media, creativity, technology and commerce. Brand-building is moving from consistency of message toward consistency of decisions, while media is shifting beyond reach and frequency toward fandom, community and connected commerce. Creativity, meanwhile, is moving upstream from campaigns into business infrastructure. It positions AI positioned less as a replacement for people than as a system that frees them to do work only humans can.
The first was a shift “From Audiences to Carriers.” The brand story, Omnicom argues, no longer belongs entirely to the brand. The creator economy is becoming a new distribution logic for brand meaning, with communities, customers and creators reshaping and carrying stories forward.
The second was the return of human creativity. With AI everywhere, meaning becomes the scarce resource. The report’s “poetry and plumbing” distinction captures the tension: technology, data and automation provide the infrastructure for scale, but cultural insight, emotional truth and creative courage give that infrastructure a reason to matter.

Creator commerce was the third major shift. Creators are increasingly more than talent with large followings; they are building communities, formats, businesses and products. Influence is consequently becoming more measurable and more closely connected to commerce. Yet Omnicom cautions against treating creators simply as media inventory. Their value lies in trust, voice, community fluency and the freedom to shape the work.
The fourth theme was perhaps the most consequential for marketers: the operating model itself is becoming a competitive advantage. The challenge is no longer whether a brand has strong creative, media, data or commerce capabilities, but whether those capabilities can work together at the speed of culture and the pace of the customer journey.

Finally, trust is moving from claims to proof. Brands are increasingly judged not by what they say in market, but by the evidence people encounter in real life. Values, in this context, have to show up in behavior.
The report also points to a changing definition of media creativity. The strongest work at Cannes, it argues, behaved less like a channel plan and more like a system—turning culture into a live brief, interfaces into ideas, and people into proof. Campaigns such as KitKat Heist, CeraVe’s New Face of Legs and Heineken’s Could Have Been a Heineken demonstrated how brands can respond to cultural signals rather than simply interrupt them. Meanwhile, work such as Uber Eats’ Build Your Own Super Bowl Commercial showed how the interface itself can become the idea.

Omnicom’s own Cannes showing reinforced the scale of this creative ambition, with its agencies earning 160 Lions, including nine Grand Prix and one Titanium Lion.
The Art of Influence makes a compelling case that the next phase of marketing will not be defined by who can generate the most content or command the most attention.

]]>The post Pudgy Penguins, Kung Fu Tea team up for a sweet ‘Collector Couple’ collaboration appeared first on adobo Magazine Online.
]]>Launching ahead of New York Comic Con 2026, the collaboration will bring together PudgyPenguins’ growing universe of characters and collectibles with one of the most recognizable names in Global boba culture. The partnership will roll out across participating Kung Fu Tea locations nationwide. At the center of the collaboration are two character-inspired takes on Kung Fu Tea fan favorites, pairing Pax and Polly’s personalities with creamy, fruity and playful flavors made for the ultimate boba date.
The limited-edition menu brings Kung Fu Tea’s signature approach to handcrafted boba together with the playful personality of the Pudgy Penguins universe, giving fans two new ways to sip their favorite characters. The collaboration will also make Kung Fu Tea the global launch destination for PudgyPenguins’ new Little Treats Blind Boxes, a highly anticipated collectible series bringing the PudgyPenguins characters into a new miniature format following a sold-out limited release at San Diego Comic-Con last month. From October 1 to 15, 2026, fans will be among the first in the world to collect Little Treats at participating Kung Fu Tea locations, pairing the thrill of the blind-box reveal with the launch of the limited-edition Pax Pengu and Polly bobas. Adding to the collectibility, first-day attendees will also receive a coveted Pudgy Penguins Vibes TCG promo card created exclusively for the collaboration, available while supplies last.

“When we started Kung Fu Tea in New York, our goal was to introduce more people to boba and the culture surrounding it,” said Steve Luw, COO of Kung FuTea. “Today, boba has become part of how a generation connects with shared experiences. Pudgy Penguins understands that sense of community incredibly well, and bringing Pax and Polly to Kung Fu Tea is a natural way to bring our two worlds together.”
Pax Pengu and Polly are at the center of the Pudgy Penguins universe. Known as “mates for life,” the pair represents a bond that has taken on a life of its own within the Pudgy Penguins community. Across social media, millions of fans share Pudgy Penguins characters and memes as a playful language forrelationships, friendship and affection. That digital behavior has increasingly translated into physical collecting, with couples purchasing plush, collectibles and other Pudgy Penguins products for one another. The Kung Fu Tea partnership brings the idea into a category already built around social connection. Whether it’s meeting for milk tea, trying a new flavor together or grabbing boba on a date, Kung Fu Tea has become part of the ritual of getting together with someone you love. With one drink inspired by Pax and another by Polly, the collaboration gives the Collector Couple their own perfect boba pairing.
“Boba is already part of how our people connect – it’s a date, a hangout andsomething you share with someone you love,” said Steve Starobinsky, Head of Partnerships for Pudgy Penguins. “That made Kung Fu Tea a natural home for Pax and Polly. Bringing the Collector Couple to boba gives our fans a new way to share these characters together while introducing Pudgy Penguins to an entirely new audience.”
This delicious Kung Fu Tea collaboration, the first QSR (quick serve restaurant) partnership for PudgyPenguins, comes as their universe accelerates its expansion from a viral phenomenon into a global character and consumer products franchise. Over the past several years, Pudgy Penguins has built an increasingly broad product universe spanning plush, collectibles, trading cards, games, fashion, beauty and entertainment, supported countless collaborations and by a growing presence across major retailers including Target, Walmart, It’s Sugar, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Growing consumer demand has fueled repeated online sellouts and an expanding mass-retail presence, bringing Pudgy Penguinscharacters including Pax and Polly to consumers nationwide.
That retail momentum has been particularly strong around the brand’s “Collector Couple.” PudgyPenguins’ first Valentine’s Day Plush Bouquet, featuring Pax and Polly, sold tens of thousands of units, while fans lined up for hours at the brand’s New York City Pudgy Petals pop-up to purchase the limited-edition collectible.
This sweet pairing represents the brand’s latest move into the consumer mainstream, introducing Pudgy Penguins to boba drinkers across the country while giving its existing community a new way to celebrate Pax and Polly together.

]]>At the heart of the collaboration is King Esguerra, a divergent creative from The Misfits Camp who has loved sketching and painting since childhood. While King enjoys illustrating different subjects, there is one thing he especially loves to draw: food.
And that made Sourdough Café a perfect canvas.

Just a few steps from Sourdough Café Perea is The Misfits Camp. What started as a connection between neighbors grew into an opportunity to showcase King’s talent and bring his illustrations to a wider audience.
Inspired by team lunches at Sourdough Café, King created a special collection featuring the food and little pleasures he loves, from freshly baked bread and morning coffee to the café’s special dishes.
His original artworks will be exhibited and available for sale at Sourdough Café until the end of September.
The collaboration is more than an art showcase. It reflects The Misfits Camp’s mission to help divergent creatives take their talents beyond training and into the real world through employment, commissioned work, freelancing, design, and other sustainable creative opportunities.
“This is exactly one of our goals at The Misfits Camp: to connect our divergent creatives to real opportunities like this and open up sustainable possibilities for their future. King’s work being seen, appreciated and supported is what we hope to make possible for more of our creatives. Thank you to Sourdough Café, Mike Lee, and his marketing team led by EG Bautista for believing in their talent and giving it a place at the table,” Misfits Camp Founder Merlee Jayme said.
Starting September 10, guests can also take home a piece of King’s art as part of Sourdough Café’s anniversary giveaways. An exclusive sticker pack featuring his illustrations will be available with a minimum spend of ₱1,500, while a special Sourdough Cap will be given with a minimum single-receipt purchase of ₱5,000.
Of course, an anniversary at Sourdough Café would not be complete without new things to eat.
The seventh anniversary introduces four new pizza flavors inspired by Sourdough Café favorites, all served on its signature sourdough crust: Granchi, Ube & Cheese, Osso Bucco, and Guanciale & Peach.
For those looking for a midday treat, ₱70 Pulpo Specials are available daily from 1–5 PM. There are also new Strawberry Butter and Matcha Butter flavors to enjoy with freshly baked sourdough slices.
Dessert joins the celebration with three new cheesecake flavors: Pistachio Praline, Manchego Basque, and Port & Maraschino Cherry.
And to end on a sweet note, The Sweet Trio brings together Coffee, Cookie & Gelato for ₱450, with guests free to mix, match, and enjoy it their way.

Seven years is a milestone worth celebrating. For Sourdough Café, it is also an opportunity to use its table for something bigger: to celebrate good food, bring people together, and make room for a different kind of creativity.
Here’s to seven delicious years, and to more possibilities ahead.

]]>The post Julia Barretto and Maris Racal battle for 1% cashback in Maya’s latest campaign appeared first on adobo Magazine Online.
]]>In their last Maya video, the two showed what it feels like when your savings earns interest daily. Now, they’re turning their attention to everyday spending, with a new face-off over something they both want to claim.
This time, the two go head-to-head over 1% cashback when you pay with your Maya Card, making cashback something neither of them is willing to give up. The result is an all-out, wildly entertaining showdown built around one simple idea: if there’s value to be claimed from money you’re already spending, why leave it behind?
It’s a mindset that hits especially close to home today. Filipinos want more out of their money, and we’re becoming more conscious of where it goes and what we get in return—comparing prices, waiting for sales, looking for deals, and finding ways to make everyday spending go further.
Cashback taps into that same instinct. And Julia and Maris take it to an entertaining extreme. Watch just how far they’ll go to claim their cashback here:
And claiming yours is much easier. Get 1% cashback on all in-store or online purchases in the Philippines when you use your Maya Card, from your morning coffee and weekly groceries to dining out, shopping, and your latest online checkout.
Julia and Maris may be fighting for what’s “MINE,” but when your everyday spending can give you something back, there’s no reason to leave yours behind.

]]>The post Under Armour and Colenso BBDO champion commitment with new APAC brand platform appeared first on adobo Magazine Online.
]]>At its heart, “Commit” reflects a simple belief: the more you commit to sport, the more it gives you back.
We know that what draws people back to the track, the court, the gym and the field goes far beyond the results. It’s about all you discover when you keep turning up – from the first breath of cold air at the start of an early run, to the sound of a perfectly hit volley, to the instinct to push for one more rep at the end of a set, to the discovery of muscles you didn’t know you had.
For a new generation of athletes in the region, that’s what sport is increasingly about − not the podium or the image, but the strength, growth, freedom, joy and fulfilment that sport gives back to you.
Whatever your journey, whatever your sport, Under Armour is committed to helping you become a better athlete.
“At Under Armour, we believe the most meaningful value of sport is found not only in the outcome, but in every moment when an athlete chooses to commit to it,” shared Simon Pestridge, Chief Marketing Officer and APAC Managing Director, Under Armour. “When someone truly commits to something they love, sport becomes more than a way to challenge themselves. It becomes a force for continued growth. Through this platform, we hope to encourage more people to step onto the field, into the gym and back into the work, discovering the change that sport can create through every act of commitment and perseverance.”
The launch work features 28 athletes across film, print, social and digital out-of-home, with Colenso BBDO partnering with OMD APAC on the media strategy and rollout. The work spans markets across Asia and into Australia, while also reaching beyond sport through the inclusion of K-pop band BOYNEXTDOOR.
Representing a new generation of K-pop stars, BOYNEXTDOOR has put joy at the core of who they are. K-pop, like sport, is a world built on deep commitment and athleticism, and will help Under Armour show up for an audience beyond the gym and sports field.
“BOYNEXTDOOR represent exactly the kind of commitment we want to celebrate,” said Adam Schokora, Creative Director at Under Armour. “They work incredibly hard, but there’s a real joyfulness and authenticity in how they do it. They’re a great example of what it means to commit to something you love and discover who you can become in the process — and, most importantly, find real joy along the way.”
“It’s been a privilege to work with athletes across the region on this project,” says Simon Vicars, Chief Creative Officer of Colenso BBDO. “Sport is a powerful contributor to the joy of life. Our aim for Under Armour is very simple: to help fuel the joy addiction.”

]]>The post CJ WORX gives a cultural guardian a new job: Telling Thais to get up appeared first on adobo Magazine Online.
]]>So CJ WORX looked for a reminder that people wouldn’t just see, but would actually remember. The answer was hiding in something deeply familiar to Thai people: the Angel.
For generations, the idea of the Rukkha Angel, a guardian spirit associated with trees and nature, has been deeply woven into Thai culture, from beliefs and prayers to temples, traditional mural paintings, fables, literature, and even the stories and illustrations that generations of Thai children encounter in school.
For centuries, Thais have turned to guardian spirits through prayers and offerings, asking for luck, love, prosperity, protection, and, above all, good health.

That cultural familiarity became a creative opportunity.
In Thai, Rukkha sounds remarkably close to Lukkha, a polite way of saying “Get up”.
By changing just one sound, CJ WORX transformed a familiar guardian spirit into a guardian that says “ลุกค่ะ” (Get up).

It is a tiny linguistic twist, but one that turns a centuries-old cultural belief into an instantly understandable health message.

(Translation: Get Up! Reduce Sedentary Time. Every 30 minutes, move for at least 3 minutes.)
And so, Lukkha Angel (Get Up Angel) was born.
Designed as an art toy that can sit right where people spend hours sitting, on office desks, at home, or beside their screens, Lukkha Angel delivers one simple intervention: every 30 minutes, its hidden speaker says:
“Lukkha! (Get Up!)”
“A simple reminder to sit less.”

“For us, the cleverness was in making the idea almost disappear. If we wanted people to get up, the reminder had to be sitting right where they were. Wasu, my junior copywriter, found the Lukkha wordplay. Jinjuta, my Creative Group Head, gave it a personality people could actually live with. Sometimes the best creative move is simply changing one sound, and letting the culture do the rest.” said Kritkhanin Sornchan (Tour), Creative Director, CJ WORX
“We didn’t want to create another health warning that people see and forget. We wanted to find something already living in Thai culture and give it a new job. By changing just one sound, from Rukkha to Lukkha, an Angel that has always watched over people suddenly has a very different responsibility: not just to bless them, but to tell them to get up.” commented Saharath Sawadatikom, Creative Chairman & Founder, CJ WORX
Instead of making health feel like a warning, the campaign used a familiar Angel and a clever play on words to turn a simple health reminder into something people could relate to, remember, and act on.
But the ultimate goal was never to make people dependent on the Angel.
People don’t need to have Lukkha Angel at home. They just need to remember one thing: Lukkha.
More importantly, the message became a cue for action. People began breaking up long periods of sitting and making movement a natural part of their routine, even without seeing the Lukkha Angel.
Because the best reminder is the one you eventually no longer need.

This year, more than 250 judges from over 50 countries took part in the Gerety Awards, bringing together some of the most respected creative leaders from different fields of advertising, marketing, production, design, and media, who showed their powerful perspective by choosing the best creative work. The complete list of winners includes 4 Grand Prix, 34 Gold, 69 Silver and 75 Bronze, with first time recognitions for Tunisia.
The Grand Prix winners include:
No Project Without Drama for HORNBACH by HeimatTBWA\ Berlin (Germany) in the Craft CUT-Production Design
The Count for Sickkids by Soundtree Music for FCB Canada in the Craft CUT-Music
The KitKat Heist for KitKat by VML UK wins 2 Grand Prix in the Communication CUT-PR and in the new category for this edition Moments CUT-PR.

Leo Manila x BBH Singapore win a Silver in the Entertainment CUT and a Bronze in the Media CUT with the campaign GamiFries for McDonald’s.
The winning work was also recognized for its ability to earn attention through bold ideas, cultural understanding and exceptional execution. Lynne Parker, Founder and Chief Executive of Funny Women CIC, United Kingdom, praised The KitKat Heist for winning in two categories, while highlighting HORNBACH as a standout for its artistry and craft, particularly its use of real singers, sets and music.
Maria Milusheva, CCO of OM Group & MUCH BETTER, Bulgaria, described The KitKat Heist as an example of a brand choosing to take a risk, make a problem public and invite people to participate in solving it—turning attention into engagement and fans rather than simply reach.
Alexandra Todirica, Marketing Manager at McDonald’s, Romania, said the strongest creative work reviewed by the Grand Jury created a reaction, conversation and point of view, while demonstrating originality, craft, cultural understanding and strategic thinking.
Imen Gharbi, Managing Director of Doze Agency, Tunisia, similarly noted that the Grand Prix winners demonstrated how powerful creativity can be when ideas are sharp, relevant and impossible to ignore, with simplicity backed by craft, cultural understanding and precision.
Alejandra Fehrmann, Global Communications Executive, observed that the strongest ideas this year earned attention rather than demanded it, demonstrating that creativity has no single accent, market or formula.
The Gerety Awards organization was very sad to learn about the passing of Jury President for the Hong Kong executive jury session, Kitty Lun, while preparing this announcement. Onie Chu, Executive Director at HK4As and host of the session said “When we began planning the inaugural Gerety Awards judging session in Hong Kong, one of the first and most important decisions was who could lead it as Jury President. We needed someone with unquestionable creative prowess, deep industry respect, and the ability to bring together a room of accomplished women. For me, there was only one name that came to mind: Kitty Lun. To be honest, I felt that if Kitty accepted the role, then we would have the panel. That was the kind of respect she commanded. Her achievements spoke for themselves, but what made Kitty truly special was her generosity, wisdom and authenticity.
Kitty’s role at Meta was testament to her leadership, but what made her voice especially valuable was that she never lost touch with the craft. She remained close to the creative process and the people driving it. She was not looking back on a creative career, she was still living it.
Kitty embraced the opportunity with her characteristic warmth and enthusiasm, helping to make that inaugural Hong Kong jury a reality. We were fortunate to have her lead that first Gerety chapter in Hong Kong, and her contribution will remain an important part of its story. Kitty will be deeply missed.”
The Gerety jury’s reflections also underscored the enduring cultural influence of this year’s winners. Dipshika Ravi, National Creative Director at Schbang, highlighted The KitKat Heist as a defining example of Grand Prix-level work, where an idea becomes the communication, the PR and the cultural conversation itself.
Christen Rochon, Ad Partnerships Director at NBCUniversal, described the Grand Prix winners as works that go beyond a celebration of creative excellence, reflecting influence, proactively evolving culture and leaving an impact that extends far beyond the moment.
