After taking on the urban environment with gusto last week, our graduation will take place at Boarshead Resort which provides a lovely balance of activity involving people and dogs in a bucolic setting.

Feisty Fidos

After entering the resort at the light on Rt. 250, take your first left (just before the hotel), pass the tennis courts and then take a right just at the edge of the golf course. There will be a driving range on your left and ample parking a hundred feet or so on your right (UVA Tennis Courts will also be on your right). Spread out when you park and head towards the hotel and the walking loop around the various ponds.

Manners Minders

After entering the resort at the light on Rt. 250, take an immediate right into the parking area in front of the UVA Foundation (there are small buildings and a bank of mailboxes). If you reach the hotel, you have missed your right.

We will be meeting at the Stonefield Shopping Metropilis off of Hydraulic Road. This area offers lots of places to explore: a parking garage (with some Leave It morsels like popcorn), LL Bean (inside), grassy areas used by the dog-loving inhabitants of the apartment complexes that abut the Shopping Center and the main thoroughfare with lots of people who may want to interact with your pooch. The focus on class Thursday is how to navigate the chaos so you and your dog have a fun adventure. The temps are going to be close to 90 so bring lots of water for you and your dog and use cooler locations (like the parking garage, LL Bean and shade) to ensure you pooch is comfortable.

Feisty Fidos: Please park in the lot that is North of the Main Boulevard (i.e. behind Burtons, Orvis, etc.) This is the largest lot and I encourage you to scout it out and choose a parking spot that gives you lots of distance from others. If your pooch is easily overwhelmed, stick to the areas outside of the main shopping area.

Manners Minders: Please park in the parking lot in front of the Hyatt – between the Hyatt and Hydraulic Road.

We are meeting at Pen Park off of Rio Road.

As you enter the park, bear right at the tennis courts and park in the parking area in front of you and next to the golf course (the playground will be visible on your left a few hundred feet away).
The parking lot is large so should be able to accommodate dogs who need more space. Position yourself strategically.
Please leave your dog in the car when you arrive so we can convene in the parking lot and discuss the goals for the evening’s adventure.
