Unfortunately the mid-season finale was kind of blah. It wasn’t especially good, and it wasn’t especially bad, but in the context of wrapping things up for a long hiatus, that means it’s not doing it’s job. Lots of monologing about ideas we don’t care much about between characters we’re not interested, a few really fantastic pieces of writing and performance for Deanna that are undermined by how we feel going into the episode about the character, and more sloppily staged action and set pieces. But, we’re not done! We’ll be back next week to wrap things up and try to generate some excitement for the next half. Hopefully you’ll help out. Send us your predictions, thoughts, complaints, praises, and spoilers and we’ll talk about them next Tuesday!

So yeah, maybe that wasn’t as bad as it could have been, or maybe we’ve just spent four weeks accepting the fact that this just wasn’t going to end in a way that made sense or paid respect to the character or our devotion as fans, who knows. We commit to addressing it and then honor the not-dead by moving forward and living our lives. We talk about that, a little Morgalizing round table action with Rick, Michonne, and Carol, ponder the different directions Rick and Carol’s personal ethos are heading, what disaster Ron’s gun training is going to lead to, and debate the verisimilitude of CGI balloons. All that, a ton of feedback from all ya’ll, and we’ll see you back this weekend for the mid-season finale!

Obviously that’s a lot to talk about, but we also have some moral philosophy debates between Morgan, Rick, Carol, and others, with Carol possibly getting some remorse for the way she’s rolled since infection ran wild in the prison. Should she? Michonne has some thoughts on Deanna’s “Barly == Intellect” plans, but we aren’t privy to them. Gabriel’s running a G.D. prayer circle out by the solar panels, and his faith is rewarded with… green balloons. What did you think? Use the links below to send them in and we might just read them on our full coverage cast Tuesday.

Daryl loses his bike and his ‘bow, Abraham gets some new threads and a new plan for life, and Sasha gets a walrus mustached possibly recovering death jockey for a boyfriend. Along the way, there’s forest fires, melted zombies, Cherokee roses, improbably diabetics, and a truck named Patty. All this and plenty of feedback, in a fairly dispirited podcast. We’ll hope for better this weekend, and either way, we’ll see you then.

Along the way, we realize that Barley = Intellect, Maggie is in the family way, Aaron thinks way to highly of his given name, Deanna treats zombies like noisy apartment neighbors, Ron is probably up to something, and that The Walking Dead staff just loves to write “this is the world we live in” speeches almost as much as we hate hearing them. All this and a fully stocked pantry’s worth of emails that we plunder with shameless abandon, and even a bit of a spoiler section towards the end where we discuss some casting news and develop some themes and plotlines from the comics.

But the problem is, Glen just got killed and Rick has one foot in the grave, the other on the doorstep of a crappy run down RV, and that has a way of making 90 minutes of good television seem tedious. Jim and A.Ron rail against the frankly inexcusable and inexplicable jerking around The Walking Dead production team has been inflicting upon it’s audience for the last 48 hours. To say nothing of the strangely detached sense of geography and space, the tedious battle between the pragmatic veterans of Rick’s team and the naive idiots of Alexandria, the lazily crafted action sequences, the massive location oversights, the casual throwing away of of potentially interesting character arcs and developments just for shock value that they’ve been steadily undermining since the moment the episode finished airing. It’s infuriating. Hopefully, next week will be better, because, hey, Lennie James. See you then!

Some minor quibbles with the rampant Morgalizing going on, we thoroughly enjoyed Bat-Carol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Morgan, Jesse completely destroying A.Ron’s “not a survivor” theory, and the general chaos and pandemonium this episode brought. Not much, as it turns out. An experiment with B&W photography that could have been yet another failed attempt at artistry beyond TWD’s reach turned into a vital grounding technique to keep us in sync with an ever shifting time line, and those shifts did a heroes work plastering over some of the plot holes and inconsistencies of the main plot, while also showing important character shifts in interesting ways. And hey, zombies. Lots and lots of visually interesting, disgusting, soft headed zombies.

Jim and A.Ron continue to be entertained as our group of borderline psychopaths try to integrate into civil society, with sometimes hilarious, sometimes horrific consequences. This episode we discuss serious spaghetti, Carol putting the fear of Carol into poor Sam, Rick’s hungry eyes, being bored to tears with Jesse’s post-apocalyptic life speech, Abraham’s life, and Michonne hanging up the old katana among many other topics. All this, a mind bending amount of feedback, and a lively spoiler section await behind the cold rolled bars of our theme music.

Things got crazy in this episode 513 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, “Forget”. And by things we mean Sasha and Carol and by crazy be mean full on, house screaming, child scarring insane. In a good, and fun kind of way, of course. We talk about Rick’s half measures kiss, Daryl the Horse Whisperer, Aron the Daryl Whisperer, and the surprising lack of Trumpface drama in the episode. A fine episode, most exciting due to the fact that we arrive at an intriguing new location with the hope of intriguing new characters, heroes, and villains to get to know and new situations and scenarios to explore. But, much like a darkened route 23 at night, we hit a few bumps on the way. Applesauce, broken ankles, a recalcitrant Rick, a zero turning radius RV, and broken shell acorn paste. Alls well that ends well, and five seasons in, we are once again stoked for the potential of The Walking Dead again. Lord, what fools these podcasters be!

It was slow, slogging through well worn territory of dealing with loss and grief and acceptance of the way the world is rather than the way the world should be. Speaking of history, this was recorded in the summer of 2010, and some of this is rough. I think my mic was pointing the wrong way, we were recording in an empty living room with vaulted ceilings so it has more echo than the Batcave, and we were making a conscious effort not to swear (Jim maintained at the time that it was impossible to have a popular “explicit” cast, which… AHAHAHAHAHA!), all of which is lead to an “interesting” podcasting experience. We have a few more “Zombie Drills” in the archive, which we’ll be saving for future installments.

It was the best of seasons (Internment), it was the worst of seasons (Dead Weight), but while it ended on a very bleak note for our survivors, it nevertheless was a positive and hopeful way to end things from a storytelling and general quality standpoint. Jim and A.Ron are willing to give the Gimple a mulligan on the Governor business, and we have many reasons to look forward to season 4.5. Give our “wrap up” cast a listen to find out why, in addition to our thoughts on Zombie Survival Dream Teams (a call alllll the way back to Blue Yonder episode 9!), Daryl’s “BAsexuality”, Judith’s ultimate fate, how our pre-season survival predictions fared, tons of your feedback, and a jam packed spoiler section.
Don’t forget that we are raising money for Child’s Play the entire month of December. All of our affiliate link cash from Amazon is going straight to brighten kids’ days. We’ve raised over $2,000 so far from your participation on Amazon and through your donations, if you want to find out how you can help us, check out our post all about it! Season 4.0 of The Walking Dead ended in thrilling fashion with episode 408, “Too Far Gone”. We say goodbye to some old friends, and say good riddance to others. Join Jim and A.Ron as they discuss closing the chapter on the prison era of The Walking Dead, post-apocalyptic motherhood issues, Daryl going tank hunting, the likely fragmentation of our group and where things sit at mid-season close, compelling evidence of Judith’s survival, meat shields, rat biology, and much more. All this, including some really strong takes from the many, many emails we received, and some light comic and season 4.5 spoilers.
Did we miss something? Didn’t have time to get your take in? Fear not, we return next week for our Season 4.0 wrap up cast! Come back for our predictions and theories for next season, and lots more listener feedback.
Don’t forget the entire month of December of our charity drive for Child’s Play! For details, check out this post I wrote to kick things off. The basic premise is; you buy things on Amazon using our affiliate link, during December, and we take all that affiliate cash and give it Child’s Play, who gives it to kids at children’s hospitals and women’s shelters around the world. Best of all, it costs you nothing, and has a real impact on people’s lives. How often can you get a deal like that! Please share our affiliate link with friends and family and help us spread the word!

After the last two week’s distraction from what was going down at the prison, we return in triumphant fashion with the highly entertaining hour of television that was The Walking Dead mid-season four finale, “Too Far Gone”. And by “triumphant” I mean “a total defeat for everyone concerned,” except for us, the viewer. Seriously, Daryl killed a tank single handedly. If you didn’t enjoy that on an at least “Expendables” kind of level, I think it’s time you just gave up on The Walking Dead, because I don’t think it’s going to get much better than this.
Join us Tuesday for our full length coverage, as well as your feedback, and don’t forget, we’ll have our traditional wrap up next week too, so you have plenty of time to get your thoughts together and sent in.

If you’re a true-blue Walking Dead fan and loved this episode and couldn’t get enough of the Governor or his storyline, this might not be the cast for you. A.Ron straight up hates it, and Jim likes it but only if he grants that the entire two episode arc is an unnecessary distraction from what’s going on with Rick and his group at prison. So yeah. Everybody else, come join us for a bonfire of the last two episodes of this sometimes great, mostly uneven circus that we call The Walking Dead.
We discuss the speed of lesbian relationships, leaky roofs, the fatal error that is trying to share power with the Governor, sending messages via corpse, Gimple donning the Bacon Gauntlet of Hamfistedness with multiple levels of Governor allegory, and the limits of brotherly love. All this, your feedback, and our patented spoiler section that is a bit of a mess itself. And despite it all, believe it or not, we are PUMPED for next week. We’ll see you this Sunday!
Don’t forget, every dollar you send our way through our Amazon affiliate link we are donating to the Child’s Play charity. I can’t remember an episode of television this polarizing that we’ve covered, but that’s what you get with The Walking Dead episode 406, “Live Bait.” People loved it, people hated it, people were extremely confused by it. What did we think? Listen and find out, as we discuss the Window of Broken Dreams, the horrors of living with 4 people trapped in an apartment with no indoor plumbing and an endless supply of “beeferino”, the Governor’s epic beard, sexual intercourse in the land of no-bedrooms, fist-bumping, tough-talking, police academy flame-out lesbians, and A.Ron completely giving up the pretense of trying to pronounce Martin Ass’s name correctly. All this, your thought provoking feedback, and a nicely rounded spoiler section concealed at the very end of the cast for the safety of those with sensitive ears!

As far as the episode? We really liked it! We took some heat for the first time in Bald Move history by liking an episode more than a few, but maybe we’re giving the Gimple the benefit of the doubt, maybe we were heavily influenced by the spectacular big box set piece, and maybe we just missed some zombie mayhem in our Sunday nights… at any rate, it’s what we honestly thought.
In our podcast we discuss prison hygiene, gun safety basics, planting guns, zombie pinatas, the Blair Walker Project, tons of your feedback, and we talk a little bit of light comic spoilers in the spoiler section. See you Sunday night!

This week, we discuss “Prey”, episode 314 of The Watching Dead. Milton’s passive aggression Andrea’s zombie 10k run, the Governor as Michael Myers, the perils of having a delusional lookout, Tyrese claiming the mantle of “shitty rifle guy”, gynecological torture (shudder), and much, much more. Then we discuss your copious feedback, AND a spoilery speculative after show.
Don’t forget this is the LAST WEEK to enter the Bald Move Kindle Fire contest, and also don’t forget to check out our new Walking Dead inspired t-shirt designs over at our merch store.
Note: The last five minutes of the cast were cut off due to a technical error. It was the promised discussion of Axel the comic book character vs. Axel the TV character. It wasn’t a very lively discussion, as it seems like more or less they were the same guy.
Just a bummer all around. Usually we’d just re-record the segments that got butchered, but it’s past midnight already so we’re going to war with what we got. Hope you enjoy what did make the cut, apologies to the many people who’s email was lost in the noise, and we’ll bounce back next week with a full, trouble free cast.
INCREASINGLY POINTLESS STANDARD SPOILER WARNING!!! Our spoilers are no-joke hard core and reliably accurate. If you don’t want none, don’t listen past our spoiler alert music!
This is kind of becoming a regular thing, but regarding our spoiler section; WE HAVE MEGAWATT SPOILERS AND YOU SHOULD AVOID THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE THE NEXT EPISODE COMPLETELY SPOILED.

Oh, and fever dream spoiler section that has Jim and A.Ron nervous for what is coming ahead. NOTE: IF TRUE, THESE ARE MEGAWATT SPOILERS AND YOU SHOULD AVOID THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE THE NEXT EPISODE COMPLETELY SPOILED.
Also, Jason over at The Walking Dead ‘Cast invited me to co-interview Sang Kyu Kim, the writer of episode 304, “The Killer Within”. The interview should be up sometime soon, I’ll drop a note on Facebook and Twitter when it does. Thanks again to Jason and Karen for being such gracious hosts!
But just like The Walking Dead wouldn’t be The Walking Dead if there wasn’t something WTF worthy each week, our podcast wouldn’t be our podcast if we had nothing to bitch about. Oh. And Poindexter’s science experiment. That was goofy too. Oh god, I can feel the Waldorf coming over me. Anyway, the good stuff was very good. Getting the Ricktatorship and Woodbury all involved, a fairly touching scene involving Carol, gut wrenching torture involving Glenn and Maggie, hair raising, tension setting music, and excellent pacing sets us up for one epic mid-season finale next week.
We discuss all this, some news, your feedback, and the return of megawatt, radioactive, depleted uranium spoilers in the spoiler section. Enjoy, and we’ll see you next week!
Note: The spoiler section this week contains high-octane, no-shit spoilers for this weekend’s episode. Do not listen past the spoiler music unless you want to completely spoil Sunday’s show.

It’s fiesta time! I hope you got your salsa, your chips, your margaritas, your Dos Equis and whatever the hell else you need to celebrate the death of Lori Grimes, because The Walking Dead did it’s level best to make sure we’d have a hard time enjoying it. But what the hell, right? In for a penny, in for a pound, and can a well acted, noble death by ceasarean really make up for 2 seasons of horrible writing?
Poor taste in celebrating the brutal death of a mother aside, Lori’s gone, T-Dog’s gone, and our band of survivors will never be the same. Join us for a complete breakdown of episode 304, “The Killer Within”, including feedback from our awesome fans and as always, our coverage of spoilers and comic theories in our spoiler section.

If you want to check out the short film I reference in the podcast about a penguin suit wearing zombie protagonist, check it out. And Jim and A.Ron both recommend you check out the book, “Dust”, but Joan Frances Turner. It’s one of the most unique takes on the zombie genre we’ve ever seen.

A.Ron’s on vacation, so that means a no frills, all cast update. This week we discuss the penultimate season 2 episode, “Better Angels”. Fan reaction was very mixed, and frankly, we’ve seen better TWD, but the plot’s going where it needs to go, and that’s not a bad thing. Tune in for our thoughts and speculation, listener mail, and another balls out spoiler section.
Note: If you stay beyond the outro music you will be hit with hard core, uncensored and raw television and comic spoilers. Remember, you’re always going to be safe and spoiler free if you turn off your player before our outro music plays.

The one thing you can’t say about this week’s episode 211, “Judge, Jury, Executioner” is that nothing happens. Camp Herschel is rocked, and Jim and A.Ron are liking how things are going down on the farm as we enter the home stretch of season 2.5 of The Walking Dead. We discuss Daryl’s Sayid homage, proper zombieland parenting, Dale’s campaign trail, the group’s ammo situation, age appropriate play with your 18 year old daughter, Randall’s trustworthiness, Carl’s embrace of secular humanism, having a go at mud-stuck zombies, and the physics behind ripping a man’s guts open. Not to mention lots and lots and lots of you fine people’s feedback, and another poem by heart broken fan, Tom inWest Virginia.
Note: Spoilers ya’ll! We’re not fucking around this season. If you stay beyond the outro music you will be hit with hard core, uncensored and raw television and comic spoilers. Remember, you’re always going to be safe and spoiler free if you turn off your player before our outro music plays.

Jim and A.Ron are conflicted this episode. There are parts of our favorite AMC zombie-based dramedy that are brilliant, and parts that almost gave us brain aneurysms. Find out which are which as we discuss zombie waterfalls, Andrea Kavorkian, Rick being silent but deadly, Lori extolling the benefits of being pregnant and in the kitchen, and torture by Molly Hatchet. See you at the crossroads (so you won’t be lonely)!

In this peach of an episode, A.Ron and Jim discuss some insights from Glen Mazzara’s recent interview with Vulture, the politics of Rachero del Herschel, the relative upper body strength of Mrs. Grimes, the unluckiest jumper in the world, the newly found artfulness of The Walking Dead, the effectiveness of Andrea as Shane’s ambassador, and a ton of listener thoughts and spoilers.

Find out what we think about small-farm politics, Philly fans, zombie bonfires, who’s jockeying for position of “Most Useless” survivor, and lots more.
IMPORTANT: We dish some MASSIVE episode 12 and 13 spoilers in the spoiler section of our cast. As always, these babies are safely cordoned off into the spoiler section of our show, but remember, if you don’t want to hear them, stop playback when you hear our theme song after the show. Jim and A.Ron ponder a few questions looking backward to this past half season and looking forward to the next. Where do the survivors go next? Which was better so far, season one or season two? Can they make the zombies scarier? Then we process some listener feedback and talk comic spoilers in the spoiler section.

Turns out that the midseason finale went out with a bang. Several dozen, actually! Before we get into the recap, we consider an article from The Atlantic on five ways The Walking Dead can be improved. It’s pretty good, even if you think The Walking Dead is just fine as is.
Then we break down the action as we consider effective Carol pick-up lines, Rick Jr., Glen getting a spinal upgrade, the Dale/Shane group dichotomy, the finer points of zombie walking, and Rick’s record versus undead little girls.

Welcome to this week’s episode of Watching Dead! Some say this was the best episode of the season, and some say one of the worst. What do Jim and A.Ron think? It might surprise you.
We talk about chicken legs, advanced shooting classes, farmer’s ultimatums, the ridiculous, irresponsible way the “morning after” pills were depicted on the show, Dale stepping up, the lethality of shelving, Rick’s rationality, and junk grabbing.

Welcome to this week’s episode of Watching Other points of interest; Darryl’s continual carving a portrait of himself onto Mount Badass, Herschel and Rick’s uneasy alliance beginning to unravel, the finer points of guitar-based icebreaking, rag dolls, devil’s advocacy, and some really insightful feedback from our fantastic listeners. Hey everybody! We had a nice run of two good episodes, so it was about time for a stinker. Not historically bad, by TWD standards, but about as putrid as the zombie in that well. I’m traveling this week, but was able to join the cast through the miracles of modern communication, as Jim and I break down the episode point by point.
This week we discuss a defense of brainless zombie action, how to purify drinking water, the finer points of God talk, the wisdom of going for some apocalyptic poon, Darryl as renaissance man, Lori’s assault on pregnancy tests, and whether Jim is endangering his status as the show’s resident smart guy. Hope you enjoy!

First off, apologies for the substandard audio quality. We messed up our audio checks and ended up recording on the mac’s internal mic and not our soundboard. It’s still listenable, but we’ll try to do better going forward.
This week, we talk about backlash backlashes, how scary The Walking Dead really is, Shane’s face-heel turn, Rick’s optimism versus Lori’s fatalism, and lots of listener feedback. After the music, we talk a bit of spoilers, including comic spoilers! Stay away if that doesn’t appeal to you.

Welcome to the first episode of The Watching Dead, the officially unofficial fan podcast of AMC’s The Walking Dead.
