With more than 40 tattoos to his name, many of which were done in the last few months, it seems David Beckham has nothing better to do than get tattooed, and his love for ink has rubbed off on his eldest son Brooklyn, who at the young age of 18, already has four large-ish tattoos and counting. Both father and son seem to favor Shamrock Social Club when they get inked too, a West Hollywood studio that prides itself on being the spot “where the elite and the underground meet.” It doesn’t hurt that David Beckham and owner Mark Mahoney are close personal friends either.

David Beckham took to his Instagram Stories to show off his new “Dadda” neck tattoo, captioning the snap “And a little something new…Dadda,” with a shout-out to Shamrock Social Club. The fresh ink is located just above the horse tattoo the football star had done last year, and joins dozens of other tattoos dedicated to his family, including matching “Brooklyn,” “Romeo” and “Cruz” tattoos on his back, a sweet “Harper” tattoo on his neck, and numerous tattoo tributes honoring his wife, Victoria.

Brooklyn Beckham also opted for a new tattoo this week, getting an incredibly detailed image of a bald eagle on his hand, from another famous Hollywood tattoo artist, Dr. Woo. Just last week, Brooklyn had Dr. Woo give him a fresh compass tattoo on his left forearm, the same arm that holds the camera tattoo he had done earlier this year. If it’s possible for that sort of thing to run in the family, Brooklyn Beckham definitely inherited his father’s love for tattoos, and we can’t wait to see what the father-son duo gets next!

According to reports, David Beckham accompanied his eldest son to the tattoo shop last weekend, and to celebrate turning 18 in March, Brooklyn got his first tattoo, courtesy of “my dads friend Mark Mahoney,” the teen wrote on Instagram. Brooklyn shared a series of photos of the tattoo session in progress on social media, captioning one of the snaps, “Thank you so much Mark x just like dads,” and then posted a couple of up-close photos of the finished product, which is very similar to the tattoo David Beckham had Mark Mahoney ink on his left side, just below his armpit, a couple of years ago. Coincidentally, pop star Justin Bieber also has a Native American chief tattoo located on the back of his left shoulder.

Now that he’s 18, Brooklyn Beckham can finally fulfill his dream of getting tattooed, choosing any designs he likes to grace his body. Unfortunately, the teen’s new Native American tattoo has garnered him quite a bit of criticism from people who are calling the ink “disrespectful” and “highly offensive,” and labeling it “cultural misappropriation,” much like the backlash Coachella attendees have faced in the past for wearing Native American headdresses to the music festival. In response to the negative reactions on Instagram, Brooklyn posted another photo of his fresh tat, writing, “Dam people always tryna be offended all the time lol I don’t see anything wrong with the tattoo, it’s nice.”

It’s also worth noting that David Beckham has a matching ship tattoo with his own father. It appears getting matching tats is a Beckham family tradition!

David Beckham’s matching tattoo with his dad is inked on his right side, just below his armpit, and features what appears to be an old-school ship, full sails and all. In the Biotherm Homme commercial, David reveals that the ship tattoo is one of his favorite pieces, and that his father has the very same piece inked on his arm. As David said, “I’ve always looked at [the ship tattoo] and thought one day, I’m gonna have that. I showed it to my dad and I could see he was quite proud, but he turned round to me and said, ‘Why did you have that done?’ But for me, it’s special.”

As David Beckham has said in the past, his tattoos are “about the important people in my life, who I want to have with me always,” and the new ship tattoo on his side is no exception. The ink is a tribute to his father, David Edward Alan Beckham (Ted), who has played an important role in David’s life. Although they have had their differences in the past, due in large part to Ted’s split from David’s mother, Sandra, in 2002, the two are now close, and apparently have a lot in common, including their short tempers. In his 2000 memoir, Beckham: My World, the model wrote about his father, “If something is said about me, he’ll want to punch whoever said it, but if my mum hears it she’ll just want to cry. The quality I like least in myself is my short temper. I think I get it from my dad.”

This new ship tattoo was inked on David Beckham’s side above the Man of Sorrows tattoo tribute to his grandfather, Joe West, who passed away in 2009, and above a previously unknown tattoo of what appears to be a passage from the Bible, and which takes up a large portion of his right ribcage. Beckham already has more than 40 tattoos covering his body, and if he could go back in time and start all over again, he apparently wouldn’t change a thing. “I don’t regret any of [my tattoos],” he says. “They all have a meaning. I think that’s what’s important about tattoos, if they have a meaning you’ll never regret them.”

We first spotted David Beckham’s new tattoo while the 41-year-old was enjoying a night out to dinner on Saturday night, but it wasn’t until Victoria Beckham posted on Instagram on Sunday that we saw David’s horse tattoo in all its glory. The fresh ink, which is located on the right side of his neck, features an image of a horse head, done in black and gray ink, and was tattooed at one of David’s favorite tattoo shops – Shamrock Social Club in Hollywood, California. Victoria captioned the snap of David Beckham’s horse tattoo, “Amazing artist Mark Mahoney @shamrocksocialclub @davidbeckham x kisses from Los Angeles.”

This new tattoo for David Beckham, who has dozens and dozens of tats inked all across his body, is located just below the “Buster” tattoo he had done just last year, as a tribute to his eldest son Brooklyn. In addition to his “Buster” tat, David has scores of other tattoos inked in honor of his loved ones, and it’s possible this new horse ink may actually be a nod to his wife of 17 years, Victoria. There’s no word yet on the actual meaning behind David’s new neck tattoo, but we all know that Victoria Beckham is obsessed with horses, and the couple has even been spotted riding horses together on family vacations.

Largely influenced by religion and his family, David Beckham often depicts his loved ones as angels in his tattoos, and this new ankle piece is probably no exception. Among his numerous religious-inspired tattoos are a guardian angel inked on his back to watch over his three boys, an image of Jesus on his chest with three cherubs (presumably his sons) lifting him out of a tomb, and another image of Jesus on his right ribcage, which was inked as a tribute to David’s grandfather, who died in 2009. David posted a photo of his new ankle tattoo on Instagram Wednesday, gushing in the caption about the expertise of Shamrock Social Club’s owner and head tattoo artist, Mark Mahoney. “Great new piece from Mark Mahoney at shamrock…,” the tattoo addict wrote. “Always nice to sit and listen to marks conversation for 5 hours whilst watching him work… True artist.” Mark Mahoney isn’t just David Beckham’s favorite tattoo artist though; he has also inked the likes of Lady Gaga, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Drake and Rihanna.

This angel piece on David’s ankle, which is being called a “classical couple tattoo” by several different sources, is most likely a tribute to his enduring relationship with wife Victoria Beckham, to whom he has been married for 17 years. The angelic ankle design marks tattoo number 41 for David Beckham, and, judging by his affinity for new ink, definitely won’t be his last!

Brooklyn Beckham posted the photo of himself on Instagram last week, and the image was taken down within seconds, but not before British newspaper The Sun grabbed a screenshot of the pic. In it, Brooklyn is sporting a pair of glasses, a hoodie and a T-shirt, which he is pulling down the neck of to reveal what appears to be a new tattoo on his chest. From what we can make out in the grainy black and white image, Brooklyn may have gotten a tattoo of an eagle or another bird of prey.

This potential new tattoo for Brooklyn Beckham has some wondering if the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham is growing up too fast, particularly after the 16-year-old was spotted downing what appeared to be cocktails at two different BRIT Awards after-parties last week. According to a Beckham family insider though, “Brooklyn is not on the party circuit. When Brooklyn goes to events, which is rare, he is accompanied by a minder. He’s a good kid and not going wild in London nightclubs.”

Despite his own ever-growing collection of ink, David Beckham has publicly stated that he doesn’t want his children to get inked, and Victoria is currently in the process of removing some of her tattoos in order to be taken more seriously in the fashion world, a world that Brooklyn is also attempting to crack into, as a model and photographer. Back in 2013, David said, “The boys have already said they’re having tattoos done. And I said, ‘Well, be different. Don’t have any tattoos.’”

There’s little chance that Brooklyn is going to listen to his dad and stay tattoo-free, and if this Brooklyn Beckham tattoo is the real deal, it could be the first of many for the 16-year-old, who has been known to sport temporary tattoos on his arms, and once revealed that he plans to get a full sleeve when he’s older. The first of David Beckham’s new tattoos is a simple number “7” inked in black on his left-hand pinky finger, a piece that is believed to be a tribute to Harper, whose middle name is Seven. Of course, the Beckham’s chose Seven as Harper’s middle name to commemorate David’s jersey number when he played for Manchester United and England, so his number “7” tattoo actually plays double duty as a tribute to his daughter and illustrious soccer career. David’s new “7” tat is also very similar to the “99” tattoo he had inked on his other pinky finger in 2015, in honor of the year he both married Victoria and helped Manchester United to a European Treble, winning the FA Cup, Premier League and UEFA Champions League in a single season.

David Beckham’s second new tattoo is harder to make out, but appears to be a small rose design, which conveniently sits just below the wedding band on his left-hand ring finger. Because of its location below his wedding band, and because David Beckham is so fond of getting tattoos dedicated to his wife and their rock-solid marriage, we’re guessing that this new ring finger ink is another tribute to Victoria. Other David Beckham tattoos honoring Victoria include a “Victoria” and swallows tattoo on his hand, a “Victoria” Sanskrit tat on his arm, a ring of roses tattoo around his left arm, an “I am my beloved’s” Hebrew tat on his arm, and a Roman numerals tattoo on his wrist of the date David and Victoria took part in a secret commitment ceremony.

There’s no word yet on when and where David Beckham got his finger tattoos, but the ink is definitely new, because the “7” and rose finger tattoos are absent from a recent photo shoot David did for his H&M bodywear line at the end of January. What do you think of David Beckham’s new tattoos?

Guardian Angel Tattoo on Back: After his son, Brooklyn, was born in 1999, David got his name inked on his lower back. He also has the name of his other sons, Romeo and Cruz, bracketing a large tattoo of a guardian angel in the middle of his back.

“Dream big, be unrealistic” Tattoo on Hand: David says that the tattoos on his hands are the ones he likes the most. The quote “Dream big, be unrealistic” comes from Beyoncé and Jay Z’s 2014 On the Run tour. He also has hand tattoos of Victoria’s name and the number “99,” which is the year he and Victoria got married.

Quote Tattoo on Right Forearm: On the outside of his right forearm, David has a tattoo featuring a quote from the Roman emperor Caligula, which reads, “Let them hate as long as they fear.”

First, Victoria Beckham took to Instagram on October 28, to show off a precious new tattoo on the inside of David’s hand that was obviously designed by the couple’s four-year-old daughter, Harper. David Beckham’s tattoo features an image of a little girl with stick figure arms and legs, wearing a triangle-shaped dress. The tattoo of Harper’s drawing is inked in black on the palm of David’s right hand, and in Victoria’s Instagram pic, you can see the new ink is located just above the model’s Roman numeral tattoo on his wrist. David also shared a photo of his hand tattoo on Instagram, but in his picture, there is also a small outline of a heart inked next to the little girl.

David has been doting on little Harper quite a bit lately, and the 40-year-old recently revealed two new tattoos dedicated to the four-year-old: a “Pretty Lady” tattoo and a rose tat, both inked on the left side of his neck. Harper isn’t the only one getting affection from dear old Dad in the form of ink though. David also recently showed off a tattoo on the other side of his neck of the word “Buster,” which is a nickname of his eldest son, Brooklyn. David didn’t stop there though; just hours after debuting his hand tattoo of Harper’s drawing, the soccer star showed off another new tattoo, this one designed by his sons.

In another photo uploaded to Instagram on October 28, you can see David Beckham is sporting a new tattoo on his left ribcage of the phrase “We love you Daddy,” which was apparently written out by his sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. David captioned the picture of his new side tattoo, “The boys expressing how they feel about daddy.” This is obviously one tight-knit family folks, but if David Beckham goes under the needle for a new tattoo every time he’s feeling sentimental about his family, he’s going to run out of room right quick. The Beckham family is currently splitting time between their home in London and Los Angeles, where the six-some is enjoying a well-earned break after purchasing their latest home in the Costwolds, and which is where David was when he first debuted his rose neck tattoo. David himself hasn’t revealed the meaning behind his new rose tattoo, but based on his more recent ink, we’re guessing the tat has some sentimental meaning, possibly as another tribute to his only daughter, Harper, whom he jokes is his Rapunzel. While rumors have been swirling that Victoria plans to remove her many tattoos dedicated to her husband, David has been systematically adding sentimental new tattoos to his collection, and over the past several months has gotten a “99” tattoo on his pinky commemorating the year he and Victoria were married, a “Pretty Lady” tattoo on his neck for Harper, and a “Buster” tat on the other side of his neck for his eldest son, Brooklyn.
