]]>PPhotography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography), and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication.
Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing. The result with photographic emulsion is an invisible latent image, which is later chemically “developed” into a visible image, either negative or positive depending on the purpose of the photographic material and the method of processing. A negative image on film is traditionally used to photographically create a positive image on a paper base, known as a print, either by using an enlarger or by contact printing.

However, Instagram has changed all that. The photo and video-sharing social networking service, owned by Facebook, allows photographers to share their work glogally and at no cost.
Launched in 2010, it has emerged as a boon for the enthusiastic wielders of the camera – Whether the bulky DSLRs or the handy mobile phones.
Free press talked to some leading city-based shutter bugs to know how Instagram helped them wih recognition and get assignments. Excerpts :

International Recognition
I would like to give 90% of the credit for whatever i have achieved in this feild to Instagram. When i first wielded the camera, only people who knew me in the city and places around could see the pictures cliked by me. But now, I have a globle platform. Anybody from any corner of the world can see my picture and appreciate them. Even if you have a very limited of followers on Instagram, they can share your work with others and the chain continues. I have around 70,000 followers on Instagram. Facebook has given me the status of an International Celebrity Photographer and my FB account has the blue tick. If you Google my name, details about me would be shown in a celebrity knowledge panel. Bing has also coferred a special status on me. Social media has given me an International identity. Biography –
Raghu Rai (born 1942) is an Indian photographer and photojournalist. He was a protégé of Henri Cartier-Bresson, who appointed Rai, then a young photojournalist, to Magnum Photos in 1977. Cartier-Bresson co-founded Magnum Photos.
Rai became a photographer in 1965, and a year later joined the staff of The Statesman, a New Delhi publication. In 1976, he left the paper and became a freelance photographer. From 1982 until 1992, Rai was the director of photography for India Today. He has served on the jury for World Press Photo from 1990 to 1997. He is known for his books, Raghu Rai’s India: Reflections in Colour and Reflections in Black and White.

Atul Kasbekar launched another company called Corporate Image, which manages the identity of the top management and spokespersons within an organization. The specialist imaging service conducts research regarding company’s values, individual tastes and sense of style to create a bank of images which could be used in any communication such as brochure or annual reports by the company. Atul has already worked with many corporate honchos including Ratan Tata, Vijay Mallya and Anil Ambani.
Awards & Recognition –
Atul holds the distinction of being the first Indian to win the prestigious International Food and Beverage Creative Excellence Awards (FAB Awards) 2005, held at London, for his work on Kingfisher Calendar.

Who is Dabboo Ratnani ? –
Biography –
Born on December 24, 1971, he practised his skill as a young man in Mumbai training together with Sumit Chopra. He has been working independently since 1994.
Work –
Ratnani is one of the prominent portrait and celebrity photographers in the Indian cinema. His induction into the world of photography came about largely by chance. Films got Ratnani editorial work, which in turn got him model portfolios, which led him to advertising. His work has been used for film advertising and publicity campaigns.

Clean India Mission – Inspired by Shri Narendra Modi
A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150 birth anniversary in 2019 said Shri Narendra Modi as he launched the Swachh Bharat Mission at Rajpath in New Delhi.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) or Clean India Mission was a nation-wide campaign from 2014 to 2019 to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of cities, towns, and rural areas. Its objectives included eliminating open defecation through the construction of household-owned and community-owned toilets and establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring toilet use. Run by the BJP Government of India, the mission aimed to achieve an “open-defecation free” (ODF) India by 2 October 2019, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing 100 million toilets in rural India at a projected cost of ₹1.96 lakh crore (US$28 billion).
