Welcoming Ms Emily, BALID Chairman Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman conducted the session while Secretary-General AKM Nurul Alam Apu presented a PowerPoint on the activities of BALID.

প্রধান অতিথি ড. সালমা মমতাজ তার বক্তব্যে জাতীয় আর্কাইভস ও গ্রন্থাগার অধিদপ্তর আধুনিক গ্রন্থাগার সেবা ও নানা প্রশিক্ষনে ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে উল্লেখ করেন। বিশেষ অতিথি অধাপক ড. মো: রোকনুজ্জামান শিক্ষার্থীদের নতুন নতুন বিষয়ে জ্ঞানার্জনের বিষয় নিয়ে আলোকপাত করেন। আরেকজন বিশেষ অতিথি অধ্যাপক মাইনুল হোসেন এ আই এর ব্যবহারিক দিক নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন এবং উল্লেখ করেন বাংলাদেশের তরুন ও যুবক শিক্ষার্থীগণ অনেক মেধাবী এবং এরা দেশী বিদেশে অনুষ্ঠিত বিভিন্ন অলিম্পিয়াডে নিজেদের শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের প্রমান রাখছে। <br />

শতাধিক পেশাজীবী ও শিক্ষার্থীর উপস্থিতিতে বক্তাগন এ আই এর প্রায়োগিক দিকের চ্যালেঞ্জ এবং সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন ও প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্বে এ আই কে কি করে আরও সহজভাবে ব্যাবহার করা যায় এ নিয়ে আলোকপাত করা হয়। বেলিড সভাপতি ড. মনিরুজ্জামান তার সমাপনি বক্তব্যে এ রকম বিষয়ে আরও প্রশিক্ষণ আয়োজন উপর গুরুত্তারোপ করেন এবং পেশাজীবী, সংশ্লিষ্ট সরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানসমূহ, একাডেমিয়া ও ইন্ডাস্ট্রিকে সাথে নিয়ে কাজ করার অভিপ্রায় ব্যক্ত করেন। <br />

In the recent flash flood, different parts of Bangladesh including Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Satkhira were inundated. Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) took an initiative to create a fund to support the flood affected people. BALID members, professionals and well wishers participated in this great initiative by providing financial support to combat humanitarian crisis.

অনুষ্ঠানে আলোচ্য বিষয়ের ওপর আলোচনা করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তথ্যবিজ্ঞান ও গ্রন্থাগার ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক ড. এস. এম জাবেদ আহমেদ ও নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটি’র ইউনিভার্সিটি লাইব্রেরিয়ান ড. মো. জাহিদ হোসেন শোয়েব। আলোচকবৃন্দ আইআর গঠনে মূল বক্তব্য উপস্থাপনকারীর সাথে একমত প্রকাশ করে আরো কিছু বিষয়ে গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। জাতীয় পর্যায়ে একটি কেন্দ্রীয় রিপোজিটরি’র অভাব তুলে ধরেন। ড. এস. এম জাবেদ আহমেদ বেলিডকে এ সংক্রান্ত একটি খসড়া পলিসি প্রণয়ণের প্রস্তাব দেন যা অন্যান্য আলোচকবৃন্দও সমর্থন করেন। উন্মুক্ত আলোচনায় বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন পেশাজীবীর পাশাপাশি কলকাতা ও জাপান থেকেও পেশাজীবীবৃন্দ মতামত প্রদান করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে ৬০ জনেরও বেশি পেশাজীবী অংশগ্রহণ করেন।</div>
