Dezi and Loki will help diversify our breeding program, Loki is our only white male breeder with Yaden and Greystone Shadow genetics we look forward to how he’ll help our program. Dezi and Dash, born in 2018, are our medium brown males, they both have great luster and fineness, Dezi’s little white markings and fawn genetics from his daddy will make for interesting outcomes when we start breeding program using him.
Lots to look forward to in the years to come.

Wow! I feel like we’re starting to come out of the Covid cocoon, hoping it’s not too soon. Praying for all affected and especially for the first line workers from healthcare to grocery stores and for all the moms and dads trying to work from home with little ones and homeschooling. Crazy times!!
We are fine out at the farm, everyone staying home and staying healthy. I thought it might be a good time for an update. Tamara and Reflection’s breedings from August were good – all signs are good for July birthdays. We added three alpacas last fall: Dani a fawn female, Skippy a fawn male and Jack a beautiful white male. Yesterday we brought home Black Pearl an amazing True Black female, she is so pretty, it’s beyond words…. we posted pictures and video on our facebook, and will add some below.
As we continue to grow we have been building new pastures, doing fencing and are in the middle of building a new shelter.
Prior to Covid, we had several groups of visitors, we really enjoyed sharing the alpacas with them. The alpacas really seem to enjoy kids, they are smaller and less intimidating and the alpacas are so curious about them, it’s a lot of fun to watch:)
We hope that everyone continues to stay home and stay healthy. As things change, and we get past this crazy time, we’ll update on the status of farm and visits. We had so many fun things planned for the summer, but everyone’s health is the HIGHEST priority:)

We started giving small group tours and have a group reserved for a gathering on the patio. We hope to connect with a 4-H group or scout troop soon. It’s fun to share the alpacas with our community. So far the boys have been our greeters, they have been around us and our large extended family a lot this first year of their lives so they seem pretty social. Tamara, our laid back mom, also does well with folks IF there are treats involved.
Groups of 10 or less seem the perfect size, the alpacas don’t seem overwhelmed by that number of strangers to check out. Guests who are calm, patient and kneel down seem to peek the alpacas interest the most. Lots of hair sniffing and face to face time in those encounters. Super Cute!!
We’re still figuring out the agritourism part of owning our farm and hope that all goes well. The goal is for our visitors and our alpacas to have a great experience.

Chelsea Farms has so many wonderful males it took some effort to determine who we wanted to use this year. Randy and Beth at Chelsea Farms made the whole process so easy and are so helpful. Drive in, unload, introductions, get down to business, load them up and go. So helpful, we love working with them!!
Tamara is white with small brown spot with great fleece, luster, fineness and lots of potential. Last September she had Dash our amazingly soft shiny all brown male. He’s a real joy both to look at and to watch, such a character. This year we paired her with Greystone’s Shadow, he’s a real beauty, dark gray with multi colors on his face. He has sired several wonderful crias including grays and Appaloosas this past year. We are super excited to see the results but have to wait until next July when the girls will be due.
Reflection our little spitfire is paired with Santana a real winner with fiber that is so soft it’s like satin. He fawn colored with cute white bangs and perfectly conformed body shape. With the mix of brown fawn and white on both of them it’s a toss up what the cria will be color wise, but the quality of the fleece with be no doubt wonderful to see, spin and knit with.
Stay tuned for the progress and pictures. Thanks for your interest in alpacas, if you’d like to visit please send me and email cat@daydreamalpacas.com

You’d think more work, what are you thinking, but most alpaca owners will tell you… it’s not work, it’s so much fun. Yes, even poop pickup.
With the garden producing all kinds of yummy food for the family we’ve also discovered the alpacas are quite interested in it. They pace back and forth along the garden fence and try to catch a nibble of anything hanging over. The most fun has been giving them the cauliflower and broccoli leaves and stems. Dash and his mom Tamara are in love with them. A nice change I suppose to hay, grass and other foliage.
Reflection is not as big a fan of the veggies as she is of my tree in the back yard… but who could be mad at that face.
LIFE is TRULY better with Alpacas, if you want to come out and visit let me know:) cat@daydreamalpacas.com

Our farm has trails through the forest and a big green field full of yummy grasses to feed in do training them to be on a halter and lead has been important. We really enjoy taking them on walks through the trees. They enjoy nibbling on grasses different than their pasture.

The first night was perfect, they ate, found a perfect spot to rest and in the morning were up and exploring their home. This afternoon Steve Jordan, Paige and Cris spent time with them. They are calm and seem to enjoy the one-on-one attention.
Looking forward to each morning
Life is better with Alpacas!!
