During the 2025 Chinese New Year, Michael Song, CEO of ACEBEAM, was invited to visit the Changsha Blue Sky Emergency Rescue Service Center.

During his visit, Michael Song received a warm reception from the head of the Changsha Blue Sky Emergency Rescue Service Center. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the application of emergency rescue equipment, technological innovation, and future cooperation directions.

It features a magnetic tail for easy attachment and is powered by a 3300mAh 18650 USB-C rechargeable battery. 	First, Remove the tail cap and take out the battery Inside the lamp head is a circular circuit board, with the positive terminal spring for the battery soldered in the center and secured at both ends with screws. The circuit board is covered with a layer of rubber insulation.
	Step 2, remove the rubber insulation layer Once it is removed, surprisingly, we can see the two screws securing the circuit board were coated with transparent epoxy resin.
	Step 3, remove the circuit board Till now, we see that the mainboard and the light board are connected with an FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) ribbon cable.
	Finally, remove the FPC ribbon cable Using a soldering iron, I removed the FPC ribbon cable and took out the mainboard. This is a typical layout for flashlights: a circular board and a square board are connected by corner welding, with the positive terminal spring of the battery soldered to the center of the other side of the circular board. On the side of the circular board where the positive terminal spring is soldered, there is an NMOS transistor (model DTQ2208) in the lower-left corner, which controls the on/off of the three main LEDs. Next to it, a 5 mΩ sense resistor is placed in series with the LED current circuit to measure the LED current. In the upper-right corner, there's an SOT23-5 package component, which is an operational amplifier. Its function is to collect the voltage from the LED current circuit, amplify it, and then feed it into the FB pin of the BOOST step-up chip, thereby enabling closed-loop constant current control for the LEDs. On the side of the circular board where it's soldered to the square board, the PMOS transistor on the left is a DTQ3205. On the right, there's an MPS MP3431 Boost converter chip, which boosts up the 3.7V from the Li-ion battery to the voltage required by the LED lights, and a built-in MOSFET, and it supports up to 21A of current, which is pretty impressive. Looking at the datasheet, sure enough, the built-in MOSFETs have RDS(on) values of 6.5mΩ and 10mΩ. So, in the current range of 100mA to 3A, with an input voltage of 4.2V, the efficiency can reach as high as 95%, and can even go up to 97% at its peak. One side of the square board features an FMD microcontroller, to the left of the microcontroller, there's an SOT23 component, which is used to step down the battery voltage and provide power to the microcontroller. The other side of the square board contains the button and a red-green dual-color status indicator light.
	Now, let us remove the stainless steel strike bezel to have a look at the design of the light board.
	The board features three SFT-25R HI white main light LEDs for illumination, along with three RGB LEDs. Notice the black part on the light board — that's the FPC ribbon cable connecting the main control board to the light board. As expected, the light board uses a copper substrate with a thermally isolated design. The "thermally isolated copper substrate" has an astonishing thermal conductivity of 380W/mK — that's 380 times better than aluminum substrates! This technology is perfect for high-power lighting, and it seems there's really no alternative that can match it. Now, let's talk about the FPC ribbon cable. From the end, it appears to be a double-sided trace design. The thicker traces on both sides are used to power the white light main LEDs. The four thinner traces in the middle, on both the front and back, are for driving the three RGB LEDs. Since the copper-based light board is a single-sided board, the connection between the FPC ribbon cable and the copper substrate is done as follows: six soldering holes are made at the FPC end and soldered to the copper substrate's pads. The other end of the FPC is threaded through a slot in the center of the copper substrate, passes through the integrated heatsink structure of the lamp head, and is finally soldered to the pads on the main control board.

In all the flashlights I've previously disassembled, the connection between the light board and the main control board was made using silicone wires. If this flashlight had used silicone wires as well, it would have required two thicker silicone wires and four thinner ones, for a total of six. This would make the soldering and assembly process quite difficult. However, the FPC ribbon cable used in this flashlight solves this problem very effectively. It’s designed with enough slack for the soldering process, and when everything is reassembled, the FPC ribbon cable only needs to bend in one direction at a few points, so it won't get crushed. Moreover, by adding reinforcement plates in sections, the bending points of the FPC ribbon cable can be controlled.

️ The "Tactical" Optic: Weaponry or Tool?

This is where my experience in SAR comes in. We often use "tactical" lights—bezel-edged, strike-capable lights designed for self-defense.

The "Kubaton" Problem If your flashlight has a crenulated strike bezel (the jagged teeth on the head) and a reinforced tail cap, a TSA agent can classify it as a blunt force weapon or an impact tool (similar to a kubaton).

Assessment:

Smooth Bezel: Zero issues. It’s a tool.
Strike Bezel: Low risk, but possible confiscation if the agent is having a bad day.
Integrated Stun Gun/Taser: Do not fly with this. Even if the battery is legal, the discharge mechanism classifies it as a weapon. It will be seized.

Expert Tip: If you are carrying a high-end tactical light (like a Modlite or Cloudray) with a sharp bezel, keep it in your carry-on, not your checked bag. Checked bags are scanned for explosives, but carry-on bags are screened for weapons. Paradoxically, you have more opportunity to explain a tool to a human at the checkpoint than you do with an automated system scanning a checked suitcase.

Packing Configuration: The "Short Circuit" Vector

The most common reason I see gear confiscated isn't the device itself; it's how it's packed.

The "Accidental On" Scenario You throw your light in your bag. The button gets pressed against a water bottle or a dense jacket. The light turns on. It overheats. The thermal regulation kicks in, or worse, the battery swells.

The Fix:

Lockout Mode: Use the electronic lockout (usually 3-5 clicks) if your driver supports it.
Physical Disconnect: Unscrew the tail cap by a quarter turn. This breaks the circuit physically.
Isolation: If the light is in your checked bag (because the battery is installed and non-removable), it must be packed so it cannot activate.

Lumen Output vs. Aviation Security Does a 4000-lumen output trigger alarms? No. The X-ray machines look for density and organic compounds (explosives). However, a massive heat sink (like on a Malkoff or Malkoff-style light) looks like a dense block of metal.

Protocol: If your light is the size of a baseball bat and made of solid copper or brass, expect a bag search. It looks like a pipe bomb or a dense projectile on the scanner. Be ready to turn it on and prove it's a light.

Over the years, I’ve learned that having a good flashlight is invaluable, whether the power goes out, you’re working in a dark area, or forced into a self-defense situation.

I’ve owned many flashlights and been severely disappointed with most of them. Typically, they aren’t bright enough, or when they are, they don’t stay charged long enough to be helpful.

I’d just about given up on finding a high-power flashlight at a reasonable price until I came across the Acebeam L19 2.0.

L19 2.0 Overview

The L19 2.0 is a long-range flashlight. It comes with a rechargeable 21700 Li-ion battery, and you can purchase a remote pressure switch and gun mount to install it on an AR or similar rifle.

It can produce 2200 lumens and reach up to 3,553ft. It’s also waterproof, dustproof, and impact-resistant.

Knowing all this, I eagerly waited for the delivery and couldn't wait to put it to the test. I’ve been known to be tough on gear, so my testing process wasn’t a walk in the park.

I quickly discovered a few things I really like about it, suddenly realizing just how great this flashlight is. Let’s start with everything I love about this flashlight.

Let’s begin with the obvious. I’m not in the market for an expensive light. I’m sure I could pay $500 to $2,000 for a flashlight that’s just as bright, but that’s not in my budget. So the L19 2.0 coming in at just over $100 is a heck of a deal.

Acebeam used high-quality materials to make this flashlight, and I can tell I will love it for years because it’s waterproof, impact-resistant, and dustproof. It can be submerged in about 15 feet of water and dropped from about 6 feet high.

The first night I got it, I called my neighbor and told him to step out on his front porch, about ¼ of a mile away. When he did, I turned my L19 2.0 flashlight on and lit up his porch from my house. This light easily reaches half a mile, so to say it’s bright is an understatement.

I enjoy being frugal, so I’m all for an item having multiple purposes. This flashlight can be the handy light you keep around the house or shop, used for hunting (more on that later) and in self-defense situations. I’ve already used it to get some honey do’s finished and see while I set controlled burns in my pastures.

Since most of the flashlights I’ve bought have been cheap, they only have one mode. That’s not the case with the L19 2.0. It has four brightness levels and a strobe mode.

The one striking benefit that stood out the most to me is the rechargeable battery. Yes, I’ve had other flashlights with rechargeable batteries, but they typically drain very quickly. This rechargeable battery has held a charge so far, and Acebeam claims it has a runtime of 62 days, which is plenty long enough for me!

I think this flashlight is incredible, and few products currently in the market can match it.

In 2018, Acebeam took its first giant leap, launching the world's first laser-excited phosphor (LEP) flashlight - the Acebeam W10. However, this journey is filled with unfulfilled longings. Although critically acclaimed, the W30 was quickly discontinued, leaving a void that desperately needed to be filled. We knew we had to come back with something that not only exceeded expectations but illuminated the world in new ways. This is where Acebeam W35 comes into play.

W35 is the first LC DEL(Liquid Crystal Diffractive Electro-optic Lens) zoom LEP flashlight. A simple electronic switch operation can easily achieve electronic shaping from a narrow spot to a large flood light without any mechanical system, no additional optics, and no need to change the size.

At the same time, W35 has once again raised its long-distance projection capability to a new level, with a maximum beam distance of 2,600 meters. We strongly recommend using original Acebeam protected batteries, which feature 4x MOSFET protection against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, and short circuits.

Fully charge batteries before first use using high-quality Li-ion chargers.
NEVER discharge a Li-ion cell below 2.5V or exceed its continuous discharge rating.
