As a MALE Veterinary Technician I absolutely love my job. I am the only male vet tech at my clinic. The work is very gross and very physically challenging sometimes because you have to hold down large dogs and pick up blood and pus/diarrhea. I would’nt trade my job for anything!

I am so glad you have written this article. Where human medicine is so compartmentalized and every single aspect requires a degree…our profession does not. It is discouraging to have a full course, degree, knowledge, compassion and versatility and not be appreciated by Dr.s or Clients.

As an RVT I am competing with assistants and OTJ’s just to get and keep a job that I love so much! We do EVERYTHING!!! Not many a person knows that. It is hard in today’s economy to prove your worth, be compensated not only monetarily but, emotionally.

It is a challenging place for LVT, CVT and RVT’s as well as seasoned assistants in this world. We love what we do and that is more rewarding than any other job/career I know!
