“Millenials want to rent glass buildings, big gyms, big bathrooms, free wi fi, etc. the Sinclair will certainly change the landscape of the GC.”
The oldest “millennial” is about 34 years old now. So they all don’t want to rent.
Yes, the Sinclair will be a nice newer rental in the Gold Coast, which desperately needs it. But what happens when the Millennials want to buy?
By the way- Gen Z (as they are being called) are about 18 to 20 years old now so they will soon be the renters in many of these buildings.
]]>“the old people leaving for florida (which they probably already have this is their summer home) will sell to other people getting old…”
Who’s that?
GenX is suddenly going to be buying up the Gold Coast? Oldest Gen X is in their 50s now.
I don’t see it happening yet.
Only “younger” people are in some of the new buildings because they have kids and want to be near Ogden.
]]>What’s true re gf’n posting ““..cray cray. Ex military, probably dishonorably discharged..”. when in fact Ogden’s principal received USAF’s Good Conduct Medal? Imo gf posted a lie aka an actionable slander.
re gf’s whining lies 30 W Oak owners – it’s self entitled gf/ Ogden parents who’d block Oak if not thwarted by 30 W Oak owners. gf needs someone who comprehends written words to explain city’s posted ‘no parking’ signs in front of 30 W Oak. Stop whining & just pay 50 cents to park legally elsewhere assh-t
gf posted “1350/60 lsd is the only rental in GC…”.?. Another f’n lie. Is gf’s claim he’s in RE business also a lie? Maybe gf specializes in property on Mars or in Grayslake? More likely gf absolutely understands GC’s block to block snobbery & lives in a GC bldg like the 4+1 @ 1419 N State but needs to make his sorry azz feel better by looking down on someone else. But claiming E Schiller is ghetto is ‘cray cray’ as evidenced by how actual participants in RE mkt value & pay for properties on E Schiller. 4th prop west of 42 E Schiller is c/p asking $4.4 mil & 3rd prop west of 42 E Schiller is available @ $4 mil. So I guess gf’s not lying if $4 mil +/- is what homes in ghettos normally sell for.

the old people leaving for florida (which they probably already have this is their summer home) will sell to other people getting old…
]]>“B/c based on nearby comps no one but you believes Schiller just off the lake is “total ghetto over there”.”
There’s a lot of snobbery about the Gold Coast, in general. People who live there have their own block to block, building on building opinions.
It’s rather amusing.
But that’s why younger people, especially Millennials, tend to shun the Gold Coast. They don’t care about those kind of attitudes. They want a property that is nice near decent restaurants, shopping and transportation- and a view is a bonus.
Who will all those Baby Boomers sell to when they want to move to Florida?
]]>Poor guy doesn’t understand that the problem 30 W. Oak has caused and the police asked them to stop with their shenanigans. They can’t block the street and cause traffic issues because they don’t like people parked in front of their building.
Many people think Schiller across from 1360 n. LSD is ghetto. The only thing worse than 1360 lsd is 1400 lsd, which is also on the corner of Schiller and lsd. Old, decrepit high rises with lots of turnover, lots of dog crap all over, garbage trucks constantly, people sitting back by the garbage smoking. Maybe you live under the north Ave viaduct so Schiller looks appealing to you. For me, not so much.
