ABi-Solar represents new product line of polycrystalline PV modules based Half Cell technology. The new product line called AB-60PHC and includes models rated at 275, 280 and 285 watts of maximum power (Pmax).New ABi-Solar AB-60PHC PV modules have higher output, efficiency and ROI due to reduced “Cell To Module” loss, 6% less internal power loss due to shorter ribbon length and 50% higher yield due to better shading response. Half cell modules also have twice less mismatch loss due to double internal strings of cells in compare with conventional polycristalline panels.Half Cell module consists of conventional 156×156mm polycrystalline silicon cells cut in half. So 60-cells standard PV module becomes 120-cells half-cell PV module. As a result, new half cells have shorter bus bar conductors. The shorter conductors mean less amperage, thus, lower resistance. Lower resistance reduces power loss to 6% and increase the output power from 5W to 8W per module. It means 16.5% lower risk of hot-spots due to lower temperature in partially shaded cells compared to standart full cell modules.PV module with half cells constructively consists of 12 strings of cells instead of 6 strings in conventional 60-cells module. It handles the performance mismatch happened between cells, caused by shading, cells’ initial heterogeneity and uneven degradation.

Twice smaller cells not only reduce losses due to the fact that they generate smaller currents. Smaller cell also means twice less damage from micro-cracks in the cell and stains on the glass for the whole module. So, half cell modules are twice less vulnerable to point mechanical damage and dirt compared to standart module.

ABi-Solar improves its Half-Cell modules by adding PERC technology inside. The efficiency of new modules exceeds 19%!

New high-performance AB-60MHC monocrystalline series by ABiSolar combines two innovative technologies: Half-Cell and Passivated Emitter and Rear Cells (PERC) in a compact 1650×992×35 mm PV modules.

Each AB-60MHC module consists of 120 conventional monocrystalline silicon cells cut in half. The cells of 156.75×78.375mm size provide shorter bus bars, less amperage and lower resistance in the module. It allows to dramatically reduce power loss up to 6% and lowers risk of hot-spots due to lower temperature in partially shaded cells (more about Half-Cell technology).

PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cells) technology additionally helps to increase the cell’s absorption capacity and return more electrons in the p-n transition zone.

All this rise AB-60MHC module efficiency upto impressive 19.25%! In compare with 16% efficiency of conventional panels, new mono PERC half-cell modules allow to obtain much more performance from the same roof or land space, allocated for solar plant.

The AB-60MHC product line includes models rated at 305, 310 and 315 watts of Pmax (maximum power).

The panels will be made in a traditional 60-cell form factor, with a maximum power of Pmax of 370W.

The new product line includes 4 models with capacities from 355 to 370 watts.

AB-60MHC 360-375W Monocrystalline Half-Cell 166 mm Multi-busbar Modules (2.8 MiB)

Using larger size of half cells 166×83 achieves a 12% higher silicon density without substantially increasing the module area. This makes the new panels more efficient compared to the popular modules on cells with a size of 158.75mm.

Advanced multi-busbar (9 busbars) and PERC technologies make photomodules even more efficient. Maximum efficiency is achieved in the new models will reach 20%.

The new PV modules will have dimensions of 1768×1046 mm with an aluminum frame 35 mm thick. Module weight of 20 kg. Deliveries of new models will begin in April 2020.

Following the 60-cell size (120 half-cells), production of 72-cell (144 half-cells) modules will be launched.

Like all previous ABi Solar models, the new line will be produced only at the Tier1 factories of the Bloomberg rating with a 10-year manufacturing warranty.

The new modules have power from 575W to 590W and are made using Half-Cell technology in a 156-cell form factor. The number of busbars is 10 per single monocrystal cell.
