Truchet tiles look like a perfect fit for that, simple pieces that still turn into surprisingly varied patterns.

Comment on Double jacquard using punchcard machines 2 by Dušan https://alessandrina.com/2025/05/15/double-jacquard-using-punchcard-machines-2/#comment-76119 Wed, 11 Jun 2025 08:53:42 +0000 https://alessandrina.com/?p=31707#comment-76119 The interleave function of layer and image is relatively new, you need to upgrade to version at least to ArahPaint6.0.4200.
The function for transparent paste of layer, on the other hand, is quite old and it is described in the User’s manual on page 59-60, section 8.

Thank you your feedback. I am working on a Mac, using version Version 6.0.3375, not certain if features lag between that version and the latest PC one, will give this method a try.

In the latest ArahPaint6.0.4255, we have a new function to interleave images with any ratio. You need to set your base image, and load or create a layer. Then go to measure tool (row 6, column 4) and set the ratio of interleave for example X: 2, Y: 2. Then select from the menu Filters > Interleave layer with main image (last menu entry). It will create a new image where layer and main image will be horizontally interleaved with chosen ratio.
For the inverted image sections that you are creating in this post, you can also make your overlay image, and paste it down in transparency mode. You do it by enabling toggle button “paste” blow the current mouse X Y position indicators. Once pasted, program will crate new overlap colors, which you can then copy and merge to achieve the color inversion mapping that you desire.

How about the built-in knit leader in the 881 and 891? Do they need the tracings on the mylar sheet at a reduced scale?

Thank you for pointing that out. I am not really a hand knitter, hence this was in the category of “possible. Looking back at this nowadays, I had already noticed the visual discrepancy in the segments of the swatch itself, am used to machine knitting where the number of stitches is fixed, I will try to review the chart

The total stitches needed from that point is 37 instead of 35

Comment on To mesh or not to mesh 9: more on mock filet design by Tanya Cunningham https://alessandrina.com/2021/12/14/to-mesh-or-not-to-mesh-9-more-on-mock-filet-design/#comment-65553 Tue, 03 Sep 2024 07:20:24 +0000 https://alessandrina.com/?p=21912#comment-65553 I came here looking for mesh, but really enjoyed the section on thread lace, and got more ideas from that. One advantage, IMO, is that you can knit a much more compact, detailed motif on thread lace than over mesh. Thank you.
