My Irsfeld ancestors immigrated from Schonecken. In 1852. Lambert and some of his family. We are in touch with distant cousins who live in Schonecken. We are confused about why all the family members didn’t immigrate together. The family story is that they left to avoid army service.
Thank you for any information, Lori Irsfeld Delman

Comment on The diary of Knudt Thompson by The Cudahy Mansion Casebook https://blackenedroots.com/blog/the-diary-of-knudt-thompson/#comment-125311 Fri, 31 Jul 2026 22:12:48 +0000 http://blackenedroots.com/blog/?p=2913#comment-125311 […] A Mr. Knudt Thompson sold Lot 1, Block 2 West Omaha to Eliza Towle in the summer of 1886. An afternoon’s excavation displayed Mr. Thompson in the newspapers frequently during this period for selling land in Omaha. A Lot of Land. I reviewed my collection of Omaha books, which ultimately would not help because he was not a “Society Man.” The Omaha Daily Bee would later mention him as a farmer. If I am making the correct connections through an online genealogy site, Mr. Knudt Thompson was born 1844 in Norway and was married to wife Clara. Then I found this site: http://blackenedroots.com/blog/the-diary-of-knudt-thompson/ […]

My mother was Janet Ogden and her father was Philip Ogden both from Penn Yan, New York. I enjoyed reading the book and learning about my family.

I was just challenged by a friend to get information on ancestors that might have fought in the Revolutionary War. My mom was in the DAR’s but I don’t have much information about it. We live in South Carolina and are in touch with Linda. Are you her brother?

I reason to believe he may have been a glazier (someone who put windows in houses). 1. His will was executed by a known glazier in Boston. 2. The list of his belongings when he died had glazier tools. I am researching it now with the help of a researcher.
