Binary Puzzlehttp://charlieharvey.org.uk/comment/886Sat, 5 Sep 2026 15:20:07 -0000
The jump from brute-forcing row combinations to rule-based pruning is the key insight here. Encoding the same local constraints a human uses before branching is a nice example of making the search space tractable. For anyone who wants to try those rules interactively, https://www.binarypuzzle.space/ is a handy place to work through binary grids.

Teknologihttp://charlieharvey.org.uk/comment/882Thu, 27 Nov 2025 13:30:35 -0000
If your exhilaration with computer science stems from its unique immediacyâwhere theory becomes tangible the moment you write, run, and debug codeâand from the ever-unfolding depth beneath the surface (from data packets racing through networks to transistors executing instructions), then how might this sense of perpetual discovery reflect the heart of CS itself: not as a static body of knowledge, but as a living, layered discipline where each answered question reveals deeper ones, and where the joy lies not in mastery, but in the endless, exhilarating pursuit of understanding how the digital world works, one lineâand one insightâat a time?

http://charlieharvey.org.uk/comment/878Sun, 30 Jun 2024 20:41:39 -0000
Quite a nice little cider as an own brand goes. Not in the same class as some of the craft ciders out there such as Weston's or Sheppys but ok. Lightly carbonated and not too strong a flavour. A solid 7/10.

AML21http://charlieharvey.org.uk/comment/877Sun, 28 Apr 2024 21:17:13 -0000
I have tried all types of Cider from all parts of the country, from 14% Scrumpy to supermarket specials. I have never tried this one before or even noticed it before so thought I would give it a try.
Its a very refreshing Cider with a distinctive taste and must admit I rather enjoyed it and will be buying it again, until I go down south again for some proper Cider.
Marks out of 10 - a good solid 8 and made with British Apples.
