History caught up with me and others in my generation on September 11, 2001 — a day elected officials and others vowed to “never forget”, and yet a date that got memory-holed for the better part of the last administration. That left the current, second Trump administration playing catch-up in its efforts to ensure the terror attacks of that day are never again repeated in any of our lifetimes.

The latest Harvard/Harris poll is in, and it presents a mixed bag on immigration, with an increasing number of voters (mostly Republicans) saying it matters to them personally while impressions of ICE remain negative. And it’s still one of Donald Trump’s strongest issues, even though he’s underwater on it — which is why you should expect Republicans to highlight it during the midterm elections.

Either the supporters of Virginia’s 287(g) law were unfamiliar with the U.S. Constitution’s clearly defined restrictions on state regulation of federal activities in its sphere (including immigration) or simply chose to ignore them in the interest of politics. Regardless, they are receiving quite the constitutional education from U.S. District Court Judge Robert Payne.

If you want to see what decades of non-enforcement of the INA looks like, consider R-P-L-, an alien granted the privilege of leaving voluntarily, but who for more than 20 years abused that privilege and remained in the futile hope he could legally stay.
