I couldn’t agree more!! It really irked me that the whole marvel world just kind of went *POOF* every things been altered, just so Peter’s life can be “back to normal”? Seriously? lol It just made me think, “What the hell?” the whole time.

I just hope that it doesn’t screw up anything else in the Marvel universe worse then it has already been screwed up.

I’m only an outside observer of the Spiderman stories, but there are two things that make me love the story, namely, Peter himself and Peter and MJ’s marriage. Peter’s awesome because, for once, there is a character who is just basically a good ol’ nerd who, in his good ol’ nerdiness, would never do something like say… trade his marriage for his aunt’s life. MJ and Peter have always had the coolest marriage in my opinion because it is really evident that they actually love each other. It’s not stupid or steamy. There’s something rather real and, as a result of that, something rather refreshing about it. It sounds like I would hate One More Day.

I completely hated OMD. Forgetting the absurd story logic, forgetting the insulting way it treated long-time fans, ultimately I hated it because it was Peter at his least heroic and most desperate, ugly and small. It didn’t make me want to cry — rather it made me angry.

I could not recommend that book less.

Comics do tend to run on too long-I read very few simply because I get so lost and confused. lol I look to new ideas (Dreamer being one) because then I don’t get so frustrated. :)

Sigh…. I must agree with Kira. I used to LOVE reading comics like the X-Men and all the X titles when I was younger (and I agree, Jamie Maddox was hot. I was really upset when they killed him), but american comics tend to go on forever changing writers a lot so things one writer says are undone by the next writer in line and then they run out of new things so they recycle things or they bring characters they killed off, like Jamie Maddox, back to life. But alas, they are not the same. I mean, how many times have they killed off Jean Grey only to bring her back again? And do you remember the whole Scarlett Spider thing where they were saying Peter wasn’t really Peter and so on? How many times have they had to “reboot” characters if not entire continuities in both big companies? Those things get so old. That’s why I appreciate stories that have an ending and leave you craving for more.

Besides, I’m starting to think all superhero comic book writers have marriage problems and that influences their writing. Or maybe they decide that married heroes are hard to identify with for their target audience. Or they are hoping the controversy will be profitable.

Whatever. I like character-driven stories with lots of heart, like The Dreamer ;)

1) They’ll bring them back together again. Guaranteed. These people don’t know how to write Peter Parker WITHOUT Mary Jane. I give it… five issues, max. This whole story wasn’t about breaking them up anyway, it was about “spiderman puts the mask back on and we can’t remember who he is again” ’cause they know they ruined everything with Civil War.
