]]>Remembering Robert "Bobby" Marks, Founder of Jet Services
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bobby” Alva Marks who left this world on April 19, 2024. Bobby was born on October 16, 1947, in Panama City, FL, and grew up in Pensacola, FL. He was a pillar of love and support for his beloved family and his community.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. Marks, Jr. and Joyce Powell Hinckley Marks. Bobby is survived by his wife Geraldine “Gerry” Busbee Marks, whom he married in 1971. Their love story was one that was admired and cherished by all who knew them. In addition to Gerry, Bobby leaves behind his sons Ryan, Sean (Aldridge) and Kevin (Melissa). He was also a proud grandfather to Aileen, Cade, and Mary-Hartely Marks. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters Joan (Carl – deceased) Houck, Marilyn Oberhausen (David), and Janice (Michael, Sr. – deceased) Valvano, who fondly remember their baby brother for his kind heart and inspiring spirit.
On a college spring break trip to Florida, Bobby took a flying lesson and was suddenly hooked on aviation. During his last semester at the University of South Alabama, he convinced his marketing professor to have their class perform a marketing feasibility study on the viability of a regional commuter airline based out of Mobile. He graduated on June 6, 1971, started Southeast Commuter Airlines, using the study to secure a bank loan, on June 7, and married Gerry on June 26.
A few years after being in business, Bobby was approached by Mayer Mitchell, CEO of The Mitchell Company, who asked to charter the airline’s aircraft to The University of Alabama home football games. In December of 1973, he was offered the position of Chief Pilot at The Mitchell Company. He always cherished the time spent working with the Mitchell family and the relationships he built with the Mitchells, the Lubels, and others at the company.
In 1991, The Mitchell Company agreed to Bobby’s purchase of the company aircraft so he could form Charter Services, Inc. CSI provided aircraft charter to Mobile-area clients for nearly 2 decades before transitioning to Jet Services, Inc. in 2010. His final chapter in aviation was to mentor and support his sons, Sean and Kevin, as they worked to grow Jet Services. Jet Services currently employs over 30 pilots, mechanics and aviation professionals with the focus of providing comprehensive aviation services. Bobby’s 30 years of dedication and leadership helped to develop the careers of countless aviation professionals who passed through the doors of his businesses. His vision in college to develop a Mobile-based aviation business is a reality and we are forever grateful for his efforts.
Bobby and Gerry have long been staunch supporters of the University of South Alabama. Both early graduates of the school, they have volunteered countless hours to various causes. In 2014, Bobby and Gerry were selected for the USA’s Distinguished Service Award to recognize their years of volunteer involvement. Specifically, Bobby served many years with the Jaguar Athletic Club and the Jaguar Athletic Fund. Bobby and Gerry are also Lifetime Members of the USA National Alumni Association.
Bobby was a long time member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He served on the parish council for a number of years and was a eucharistic minister for most of his time as a church member. Among all of his interests and endeavors, family remained the central focus. Bobby loved his family and always took an interest in supporting the things that were important to them. He was especially fond of his three grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow-up. In his final few years, he would make special arrangements to attend as much as possible while coordinating the required time necessary to conduct his home dialysis regiment. He was always willing to try and pack in as much as possible in support of family.
In his lifetime, Bobby touched many lives with his kindness and philanthropy. He will be deeply missed, his memory cherished, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In Bobby’s honor, the JagGals leadership team voted to create the JagGals Bobby Marks Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations can be made to this fund through the University of South Alabama. ]]>Jet Services Maintenance, Inc. (JSM) has been approved to provide limited line maintenance services for HondaJet HA-420 aircraft out of our facility at the Mobile Regional Airport (KMOB) in Mobile, AL. The authorization comes after Honda Aircraft’s development of the “Third Party Delegate” program allowing HondaJet dealers to designate additional service locations within their territories for certain HondaJet maintenance activities. JSM partners with Banyan Aviation out of Ft. Lauderdale Executive (FXE) to be able to provide services to clients within the HondaJet Southeast territory.
JSM is currently authorized to provide limited line maintenance activities including the following events:
- 150 & 300 Hour Inspections
- ELT Checks
- Battery Capacity Checks/Replacements
- Tire Changes
- Brake Changes
As an approved maintenance provider, JSM will also be available to help Banyan Aviation service AOG needs in the northwestern portion of the HondaJet Southeast territory.
Since all the work is being handled through specific coordination with Banyan and Honda Aircraft, JSM is able to process these line maintenance and AOG events through a client’s Flight Ready and Engine Maintenance Care programs.
For owners who base their aircraft in the Central Gulf Coast region, the closest options for Honda Maintenance have been in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and/or Greensboro, NC. The addition of JSM as a service provider creates the ability to handle these tasks without wasting the operating cost to and from the service center. In some cases, JSM may also be able to send our Mobile Support Unit to an owner’s facility to conduct certain jobs, thus eliminating any aircraft operating cost.
The addition of JSM as a Third Party Delegate creates more flexibility for Honda owners in our area. The ability to receive factory authorized service at a location close to home base makes this a winning combination. And as Honda increases the capability of the delegate program, you can rest assured that JSM will be ready and able to perform.

Thanks for booking a charter with Jet Services, Inc. We want to be sure you have the best experience possible while flying with us. Please review the following to make your trip run as smoothly as possible:
- Please always travel with a valid photo ID issued by a government agency. You will want to keep it within reach because TSA requires the flightcrew to check it prior to boarding. Please click here for a list of acceptable forms of TSA identification. NOTE: Beginning on May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights. Click here to learn more about REAL ID.
- TSA also requires us to check each passenger name prior to boarding. Please be sure the name you give us is the same as your government issued photo ID. It is important to let us know about any changes to the passenger list for your flight. Just give us a quick call and we can make it happen!
- FAA regulations require us to weigh each item that is to be placed onboard the aircraft. You will notice your flightcrew handling this task as you arrive. Please let us know if you plan to carry more than 30 lbs. of baggage per person so we can plan accordingly.
- Hazardous materials are prohibited on JSI aircraft. Passengers may be authorized to travel with a Portable Oxygen Concentrator. If this is needed for your flight, please let us know immediately as we must qualify the unit and authorizations before the flight.
- In some cases, firearms or other weapons may be carried, but only if strict TSA requirements are followed. If you are planning to travel with a firearm or other weapon, please call us to coordinate before your flight. - We welcome any request for catering or other items that you may want on board to make your trip more pleasurable. You may bring food or drink items with you…as long as it’s not alcoholic. FAA regulations do not allow passengers to consume their own alcohol on JSI charter flights. Let us know if you have a special alcoholic beverage request and we can provide it for you.
- If your travels take you out of the country, be sure to bring a valid US Passport. Please also let us know if one parent will be traveling with a minor out of the country. ]]>Jet Services Adds a Wi-Fi Equipped Citation Bravo
Jet Services is excited to announce the addition of a 2003 Citation Bravo to the charter fleet. This aircraft boasts the time tested efficiency of the Bravo line paired with a brand new interior and complementary domestic Wi-Fi from Gogo Business Aviation.
The Bravo is legendary for its reliability, takeoff and landing safety, and SUV-like versatility. Citations have been the most popular light jets for decades due to their versatility and dependability, and the Bravo combines these attributes with high cruising speeds and altitudes, along with an advanced “glass” cockpit and next-generation engines.
Interior & Baggage Space
This Bravo features 7 passenger seats in the main cabin with an 8th belted seat in the enclosed lavatory. The freshly updated interior includes side wall power outlets and the latest technology available for Wi-Fi inflight connectivity. The internal and aft baggage compartments hold plenty of luggage while the nose baggage compartment is built to carry golf bags and snowboards, offering significantly more baggage space than many other light jets. This Bravo is equipped with a ski-tube that can carry 4 sets of skis and poles.

]]>COVID-19 Update
Jet Services, Inc. continues to engage in Aircraft Charter and Maintenance activities while monitoring the COVID-19 situation here in the United States and in international areas in which we operate. As a whole, we are following TSA, CDC, WHO and FAA guidance and requirements for how to safely continue our flight operations. Our team continues to be committed to providing safe, clean travel options for our local and national clients/customers.
New Requirements, Flight crew, and Aircraft
The TSA recently rescinded it’s security directive addressing mask requirements for all commercial flights within the US airspace system. Like our airline counterparts, Jet Services is not requiring the use of facemasks on board our aircraft. Additionally, most U.S. airports have removed their mask requirements, as well. While the mask requirement appears to lifted in the U.S., it’s still possible to find mask requirements during foreign travel. We will advise passengers on a case-by-case basis of current requirements in foreign countries.
All Jet Services employees are self-monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and have full support, when necessary, to step away from work activities in the interest of their own health. As a matter of practice, our flight crews have always had the ability to come off the availability schedule when they become sick. The COVID-19 situation further exemplifies this culture and flight crews understand that they should stand down from operations at the first sign of illness.
We continue our efforts to maintain a safe passenger experience when travelling aboard Jet Services aircraft. We maintain relationships with national aircraft charter brokers and have communicated with them to determine a set of standards for aircraft cleaning/sterilization between trips. Flight crews have been trained to follow specific guidelines to provide the best possible experience for each customer on a Jet Services flight. We have hand sanitizer/sanitizing wipes on board each aircraft for any passengers, upon request. Cabin areas are wiped down and disinfected before new passengers are introduced to the cabin environment. Passengers will be briefed before each trip about how the aircraft was prepared and what sanitizing measures are available during their flight.
Destinations
Each trip presents possible issues as we navigate forward with COVID-19. The FAA has alerted charter operators to check each potential destination to see if any orders exist for the state or municipality regarding COVID-19. In some cases, we may not be able to operate between certain city pairs due to the current hot spots around the country. Furthermore, international travel may also require a bit more coordination to be sure operations can be conducted within the requirements of the destination country. As you place flights on the schedule with JSI, we will research these issues and determine how we can operate with the latest COVID-19 requirements.
