]]>Part of the remedy for the dieselgate. Audi is recalling 4,997 Audi A6 cars to improve the emissions the cars emit. The main culprit in the emission is nitrogen oxide (NOx). It is estimated that 40,000 people die in UK prematurely due to car emissions. NOx is a major contributing factor.
Audi Models Affected
- Audi A8 September 2013- August 2017
- Engine: 2.4 liter
Total estimated models affected: 4,997 out of which 3,660 are in Germany.
Recall Remedy
The software update that will be introduced sometimes at the beginning of 2018.
How to check if your Audi is recalled?
- You will receive a letter either from Volkswagen Group or the dealer.
- You can use your VIN number and go to Audi Recall/Service Campaign Lookup
Is it there Audi A8 recall in Canada or US?
Currently, there is no recall in US or Canada for A8 model. Most likely there are either zero or A8 with 2.4 TDI in North America

Federal Trade Comission requires VW to repair, buyback and compensate the owners of 3.0 TDI engines. Here is the link describing the decision, P
Proposed Settlement:
Generation 1 TDI 3.0 – fix the emissions and offer cash payout, buybacks or early lease termination
Generation 2 TDI 3.0 – fix the emissions, not buybacks offered right now. Their rationale that they can actually fix generation 2 engines to be compliant with the original EPA and CARB certifications. In any case if they can’t find a way to fix it, then buybacks and cash payouts will be offered to Generation 2 owners as well. Currently Generation 2 owners are schedule for repairs after Generation 1 cars have been dealt with.
It is important to note that VW is still proposing the fix that needs to be approved by the government first. One has to wonder if the know how to fix it, why they didn’t design the engine like that right away?
Key Date:
December 20, 2017 – this is by which date the fix needs to be approved by EPA/CARB or Buyback option starts be open for Generation 2 owners.
Bosch Payout
Yes Bosch was dragged into the scandal. Part of their agreement is that they assume no acceptance of guilt or liability. They will pay $327,500,000 to settle the claim. This should be around $1500 per claim.

Will Takata still replace airbags if court grants bankruptcy protection?
Yes they will continue to replace airbags, bankruptcy protection gives them a breathing room to not pay the creditors. The speed of replacement might be fairly slow. Most likely they are replacing the are managing the risk and replacing the most dangerous cars at first aka older cards in humid climates. Your dealer should notify you when recall is available for your car.
I bought my Audi in 2017 is the recall just for old cars?
It boggles my mind, how this Takata story been going on for awhile now, but there are 2017 cars that fall under the recall. Specifically Audi TT 2016-2017 and 2017 Audi R8,

Yes Including Audi A6 Sedan, S6 and Avant from 2005-2011. Better make sure that you airbag is replaces as it simply too dangerous to drive as not only airbag doesn’t protect you, but can also hurt you.

]]>Even with hardcore camouflage it is easy to see that it is not that different from current models and not that different from A4 and A8. No surprise here as Audi not known for sudden changes. The only difference I could spot is the outline of the lights and they look larger.
The rumor is that there will be three engine choices:
- 2.0-liter Turbo rated at 252 Horsepower the same engine as on current iteration
- 2.9-liter V6 rated at 440 Horsepower the same engine as on Porsche Panamera
- 4.0 liter V8 rated at 550 Horsepower the same engine Audi introduce to Porsche Panamera Turbo this year. This is probably only for RS6 trim
Will that be enough to compete with the current leader in Mid-Size luxury sedan Mercedes-Benz E class? Obviously since you are a fan of Audi A6 you think so and let’s not forget about Quattro which is way better than 4matic.
Thoughts? Are you going to order the new model right away or wait till they work out all of the kinks in the first year?

Assisting a person with Alzheimer’s is very challenging. And with time, simple tasks turn into a real hassle.
This is the reason why we want to give you a detailed guide on how to transport a person with Alzheimer’s by car… the safe way.
- It’s important to prepare your loved one for the ride before even getting into the car. Remember not to overwhelm with a lot of information and inform the person you are both getting into the car. You will need to repeat this information, so be as patient as you can.
- Consider it will take more time than it used to. In order to prevent agitation, you shouldn’t hurry your loved one. So please schedule accordingly.
- Suggest to the person to use the bathroom before leaving the house.
- As a safety measure, make sure the car is clean. No clutter means less opportunity for agitation.
- Getting into the car can also take more time than expected. Once again, be patient and allow the person to get comfortable before you start to drive. Once your loved one is ready, double check that the safety belt is correctly put on.
- It’s also a safety measure to have your loved one seat on the back (of the passenger’s side). This prevents people with Alzheimer’s to grab the steering wheel. Also, it gives them more space. Don’t forget to use the child lock too.
- Do take with you something that can serve as a distraction and prevent agitation though. A snack, photos or even a coffee table book (which are usually filled with big pictures) can serve as entertainment.
- Try to travel with someone else, so you have an extra pair of helping hands during the ride.
- If that’s not possible, always keep in mind that safety comes first. If your loved one becomes agitated, don’t try to act on it while driving. Stop, and then take action.
- Play your loved one’s favorite music to provide a soothing environment.
- Avoid peak hours to reduce stressing stimuli for both of you. Being stuck on traffic is frustrating enough as it is, so do everything you can to avoid it.
- When you’ve reached your destination, be mindful about where you park. Check if there’s enough space to comfortably get out of the car, if there are any slippery spots or any other inconveniences.
To transport a person with Alzheimer’s safely takes time to get used to. Practice these steps and you’ll eventually find what works best for both of you.

The reason why seniors are safe drivers is because age isn’t the real concern when it comes to driving – it’s health.
There are a lot of health conditions that increase the risks of driving. Some examples are arthritis, insomnia, and muscle pains. Plus, medication’s side effects can seriously affect one’s driving skills.
The natural decline of our senses like sight and hearing can impact our driving too. If you or a loved one has issues with this, take them into consideration before driving. Simple changes like avoiding driving when it’s dark or during rush hours go a long way.
As long as the driver is healthy and prepared to follow the rules of the road, he or she will be able to drive.
It’s not always easy to see ourselves changing though. But driving safely regardless of our age should be a priority.
Make an effort and asses your driving skills constantly (or suggest that a loved one does the same). You can do this by searching for driving tests online or –even better– by paying attention to the warning signs.
