I recently had the chance to catch up with a family I first met through soccer. The dad used to coach the team, and over the years, we’ve built a cool friendship on and off the field. I hadn’t seen them in a while since Elyse quit the team, so it was awesome to reconnect. We spent a fun day hanging out, and I even got to meet their new son-in-law—definitely a goof in the best way possible! It was a relaxed, laughter-filled session that reminded me how special these connections can be. Can’t wait for the next get-together!

A Last-Minute Family Session at Tibble Fork

Some sessions come together in the most unexpected ways! I was at my daughter’s birthday dinner when I got a message:

“We are all ready for family photos, but our photographer didn’t show up—are you able to help?”

Without hesitation, I said, “Give me 30 minutes and meet me at Tibble Fork!”

When I arrived, I was met with the most incredible family—full of energy, love, and gratitude. They embraced the spontaneity of the moment, and their positive attitudes made the entire session effortless. With Ashlen preparing to leave on her 18-month mission, this shoot became even more meaningful. Capturing these moments before she embarks on this new journey was truly special.

It’s times like these that remind me why I love what I do—freezing time for families so they can hold onto these moments forever.

Meeting the whole family for the first time was a delight. While I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the mom and daughter on several occasions, this session marked my first encounter with the rest of the crew. There was magic in watching everyone come together, their unique energies blending seamlessly as they posed against the backdrop of a this mountain meadow location.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect—a picturesque scene crowned by a breathtaking sunset that painted the sky in pink hues. Laughter, shared memories, and spontaneous moments, creating a relaxed atmosphere that made the session feel more like a joyful family reunion than a formal photo shoot.

Every snapshot captured not only the beauty of the moment but also the warmth and connection that only a close-knit family can share. Weathering the Storm: How a Little Rain Didn’t Stop This Family Session

Sometimes, the weather has a mind of its own, and that was definitely the case for this family session with my dear friend from CrossFit. We started out with what looked like perfect summer weather—clear skies, a light breeze—everything seemed ideal for a beautiful family photo session. But, as luck would have it, just as we began, the wind picked up, the clouds rolled in, and a sprinkle of rain quickly turned into a full-on drizzle.

At first, it was a little discouraging, but we all kept our spirits high, knowing we just had to ride it out. And then, as the rain drizzled down, something magical happened—a stunning rainbow appeared in the sky! The colors were vibrant, and it felt like the universe was giving us a little gift amidst the storm. It was a reminder that even in the unpredictable moments, beauty can emerge in unexpected ways.

After a short break, the rain passed, the clouds cleared, and the sun came out in full force, casting a warm, golden light across the scene. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for capturing stunning family photos. We were back to beautiful weather, and the timing was spot-on for some gorgeous shots. The family was relaxed, full of smiles, and the kids were ready to run around and have fun, making for some truly memorable moments.

The family’s son is preparing to serve a two-year mission in the Big Apple, so they wanted a shoot that reflected his exciting journey ahead.

We set the stage with urban elements reminiscent of New York’s iconic vibe—think bustling street-style backdrops, hints of classic brick architecture, and even a few creative nods to the city’s famous skyline. Every frame told a story: a story of dreams taking shape, of bittersweet goodbyes, and of the limitless promise of the future.

From Saltair to Tibble Fork: A Family Session Full of Adventure

The Romero family’s session started as a Mother’s Day gift that Dad had given to Mom—a thoughtful surprise that turned into a memorable day for all of us. We originally planned to start at Saltair, but nature had other ideas.

We arrived at Saltair, all set to capture the perfect family photos when we were bombarded by swarming gnats! They were so bad that we barely made it through the first few minutes without being attacked, and as much as we tried to make it work, the biting gnats were just too much. So, we quickly decided to reschedule and head up into the mountains—Tibble Fork, here we come!

And honestly, I’m so glad we did! The change of scenery was perfect. Tibble Fork is one of those spots that feels like an instant escape from the buzz of everyday life, and it was exactly what we needed. We had so much fun, especially with their little guy, who was full of energy and absolutely loving the chance to run around and explore. His excitement was contagious, and it made for some of the best candid moments—his giggles, his little adventures, and his pure joy made this session one I’ll always remember.

Sessions like this, where you just get to let the kids be kids, are always my favorite. It’s those genuine, carefree moments that really capture the spirit of family, and we got plenty of them at Tibble Fork.

In the end, what could’ve been a frustrating situation turned into an unforgettable day. Thank you to the Romero family for being so flexible and making this session such a joy. I hope these photos will bring back those sweet memories of running through the mountains and spending time together as a family. I can’t wait to share these moments with you all!

From Child to Senior: Celebrating Max’s Graduation

I’ve had the privilege of photographing Max for over 10 years—watching him grow from a little kid into the thoughtful, accomplished young man he is today. This senior session was especially meaningful for me, not just because it marks a big milestone, but because Max has always been such a kind, easy-going person to work with. Let’s be honest—senior boys don’t always jump at the chance to have their photos taken, but Max showed up with a smile, ready to take on the session with enthusiasm and grace, which made the whole experience even more special.

I still remember when Max was just a little guy, running around in front of my camera with that contagious smile of his. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to capture him at every stage. Each session was a reminder of how fast time flies, and seeing him now as a high school senior is such a surreal and special moment for me. I’ve watched him grow into someone who not only excels in his own pursuits but also remains grounded and kindhearted, always a pleasure to work with.

When it came time for Max’s senior photos, I wasn’t sure if I’d get the typical ‘I’m only here because my parents made me’ vibe that I often encounter with senior boys. But Max was different—he was eager, cooperative, and actually had fun with the whole process. His positive energy made the entire session feel effortless. It’s not often that I get a senior boy who’s truly excited to be there, and his relaxed attitude definitely made the experience memorable.
