Como foi a tua saída do país, uma oportunidade ou necessidade?
DM: Em 2009 foi um pouco de ambas. Eu já tinha trabalhado em Dublin, em 2007 durante 7 meses, no entanto, na altura recebi um convite para voltar a Portugal e trabalhar na minha àrea de formação, que aceitei de imediato. Após 2 anos em Portugal, no início da recessão económica e com a minha progressão profissional estagnada, fez com que procurasse sair do país novamente.

Foi fácil a integração e habituação a este novo desafio?
DM: Sim, foi. O facto de ter criado amizades em 2007 fez com que o regresso a Dublin não fosse tão penoso quanto a primeira experiência e obviamente que tornou bastante fácil este regresso a Dublin. No início tudo é novidade, entramos em êxtase e pensamos que nada nos vai tirar a felicidade de termos tido a coragem necessária para sair do país e lutar por nós próprios. O apoio de quem nos quer bem (família e amigos), seja em Portugal, seja na Irlanda é também muito importante, pois serão eles a nossa bengala nos dias menos bons, nos dias em que se pudesse voltava para casa num piscar de olhos…

Gostas de trabalhar/viver em Dublin?
DM: Gosto, caso contrário não estaria cá. Penso que se não somos felizes com a nossa vida, pessoal e/ou profissional temos que mudar, arriscar e fazer acontecer!

O facto de Dublin ser uma cidade bastante acolhedora, sendo o tempo o aspecto mais negativo, fez com que me conseguisse integrar rapidamente!

Sentes o teu trabalho e o teu conhecimento mais reconhecido e valorizado no país que te acolheu?
DM: Sem dúvida! Em todas as empresas em que já trabalhei em Dublin (Barclaycard, Accenture e CPL) existe sempre a preocupação dos teus superiores hierárquicos em expandir o teu conhecimento. Em 3 anos em Dublin, consegui ser promovido 3 vezes, procurar um trabalho melhor (em termos de salário e/ou e funções a desempenhar), lutei por mim e pela minha carreira, enquanto em Portugal, como disse anteriormente a minha carreira estava estagnada, não me era possível progredir, aprender mais, desenvolver-me enquanto profissional… Em Portugal a estrutura organizacional das empresas é muito limitada, as pessoas acomodam-se rapidamente e não aspiram a mais, por vezes por culpa das entidades patronais que não apostam na formação e desenvolvimento dos seus activos (funcionários).

Em 3 anos em Dublin, consegui ser promovido 3 vezes (…) enquanto em Portugal, a minha carreira estava estagnada, não me era possível progredir, aprender mais, desenvolver-me enquanto profissional.

O que mais gostas e o que menos gostas na vida de emigrante?
DM: O que menos gosto é fácil, não gosto de estar longe da Família, Amigos e definitivamente não gosto do tempo na Irlanda! O que mais gosto talvez seja a progressão de carreira que já adquiri e do plano que, em conjunto com os meus superiores hierárquicos, foi criado para que eu me possa desenvolver de forma a continuar a crescer como profissional e obviamente, como pessoa.

Visto por fora, como vês a situação em que se encontra Portugal e mais concretamente os portugueses?
DM: Penso que o país está de rastos! Ninguém acredita numa melhoria substancial num futuro próximo, as pessoas perderam a motivação a força de vontade de querer fazer acontecer…

Entristece-me o facto de ir de férias e ver a minha cidade quase como uma cidade fantasma, entristece-me ver os noticiários em Portugal e pensar que se algum dia o meu país se vai recompor, entristece-me ver os meus amigos sem emprego ou com empregos precários… Os números de desemprego jovem são gritantes, principalmente quando pensas que a geração jovem é a mais qualificada de sempre no nosso país… As pessoas deixaram de acreditar, acreditar no país, no governo, nos empresários, algumas nelas próprias, e isso, na minha opinião, é grave, muito grave… Sem quaisquer aspirações políticas, penso que a nossa classe política tem que ser renovada, reciclada, caso contrário, como popularmente dizemos, “ continuaremos com farinha do mesmo saco”…

Tens intenção de regressar a Portugal num futuro próximo?
DM: Óbvio, mas de férias! Infelizmente, e acredita que penso muitas vezes quando poderei voltar a casa. Sim, a casa, pois Portalegre será sempre a minha cidade e Portugal o meu cantinho à beira-mar plantado onde existem 4 factores que me fazem muita falta para a minha felicidade, e que apenas aí consigo encontrar a conjugação dos 4, Família, Amigos, Comida e claro, o Tempo. Deixa-me realçar que caso tenha oportunidade profissional de voltar a Portugal, fá-lo-ei sem qualquer problema e com um largo sorriso no rosto.

Que conselho dás a quem pensa emigrar neste momento?
DM: Penso que quem queira tentar a sua sorte noutro país que não o nosso, deve fazê-lo sem qualquer estigma. Devem, no entanto , recolher o máximo de informações sobre o país de destino, como a cultura, o tempo, as condições laborais, etc, e tomar a decisão com base em todos os factores. Conheço inúmeras histórias de quem saiu do país com uma mochila às costas, um bilhete na mão, 10 cv’s impressos para entregar e passado 2/3 semanas já se encontravam a trabalhar, já tive conhecimento também de casos em que a pessoa tenha tido imensas dificuldades em adaptar-se ao país de destino e tenha resolvido voltar para casa após 1 mês. Quero com isto dizer que emigrar é algo que deve ser bem ponderado de forma a reduzir as hipóteses que algo corra mal. Há Portugueses espalhados por todo o mundo, procurem-nos, procurem apoio, procurem quem vos indique o que fazer e como fazer, pois a solidariedade entre emigrantes é muito grande, pois como costumamos dizer, “eu também já passei por isso…

Responsibilities

Monitor product abuse and spam trends and respond to high profile spam attacks.
Work closely with Eng and Product to automate and optimize process workflows via signals and tools development.
Troubleshoot and collaborate with engineering teams and product managers to make large-scale quality improvements to Google content served on Google products.
Analyse workflow and infrastructure metrics to provide insights on improving tools, signals and processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA degree. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.
  • Must speak and write in English andPortuguese fluently and idiomatically.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing large amounts of data.
  • Excellent web research and analytical skills.
  • Familiar with programming one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, or PHP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and selected language.
