If you haven’t seen the first season of Westworld, you need to get on board HBO’s new flagship series. In addition to taking inspiration from Michael Crichton’s 1973 sleeper hit, Westworld explores several philosophically relevant themes in present human society. Especially relevant themes including the basis of conscious individualism, the morality of having a consequence-free world, and humanity’s fast-paced adaption of AI. Westworld’s well-executed exploration garnered the show well-deserved critical acclaim. Westworld took a year-and-a-half hiatus from its December 2016 season one finale due to the showrunner’s desire to match the first season’s high bar of quality.
Some noteworthy scenes sprinkled in the Westworld Season 2 trailer hinted at the direction of several returning characters. It seems like Dolores, Teddy, and the Man in Black appear determined to free Westworld’s hosts from the park’s violent guests. Meanwhile, Maeve continues the search for her daughter, driven by past trauma inflicted upon her by the Man in Black. Maeve does this while determining her own capacity for free will and whether or not her programming dictates her desires. Bernard has sided with Westworld’s human staff for the moment due to his own identity crisis. The brilliant programmer strides amongst the staff’s encampments as they prepare for the onslaught of self-aware android hosts.
Westworld Season 2’s premise appears centered around the developing conflict between the human staff and the self-aware hosts. Fans of Westworld finally have some answers about Season 1’s cliffhanger finale. Mentions of Westworld’s coolest easter eggs were conspicuously absent from the official trailer reveal. The possibility of a Samurai World and the human society outside of the Westworld theme park were the most notable exemptions. It appears that these plotline’s relevance in Westworld Season 2 will be revealed once the show returns.

]]>Pitched as a mid-level rogue hero, Khaimera excels at disrupting the opposing team and taking out isolated targets. A decent Basic Attack Power Level of 6 and an impressive Durability rating makes him a reasonable choice for those that prefer their combat up close and heavy.
Most of Khaimera’s abilities focus on duels. Ambush allows players to leap on their target and cause physical damage to the area around them. Cull roots a specific target in place, providing an opening for a string of physical attacks. Unleash releases the beast’s inner fury, allowing max attack speed for a total of 5 seconds. The most enticing ability is Khaimera‘s Spirit Regeneration: A passive skill that leads to stacks of Health Regeneration being gained.
Epic Games’ strategy of consistently revealing a new hero every three weeks has made Paragon one of the most anticipated games of the coming months. Currently in paid Early Access, players can sign up for a free beta which will be launched on PS4 and PC in August.

]]>The game is set during a post-apocalyptic earth, altered through a global seismic event that even affected the gravity of the areas, and still welcomes player to sign up for the alpha even now. The very first map from the game, Grandview, will be featured as well as the Overcharge mode, a capture the flag gameplay mode. The Early Access version will include the new maps and modes displayed at E3, that will be added during the tests, and will be added to steam after testing finishes.
LawBreakers aims to be another addition to the role-based team shooter, a popular trend this season, and wants to bring a movement focus to its gameplay with fast-paced maps. Players can choose to be a part of the “Law” or the “Breakers” as they battle it out in this maiden title. And in these teams, players can choose between 4 playable roles: Vanguard; Enforcer; Titan and Assassin. Each team has a different aesthetic for these roles and each role has its own movement system, as well as gravity manipulation abilities. The alpha is still open and this is certainly a game to watch in the coming months, so get signed up and start shooting with the best of them!

Likeable Host Sean “Day9” Plott carried out a series of short and to the point interviews with quite a few games/updates receiving World Premieres during the evening. And what better way to open an E3 event dedicated to PC Gaming than with juggernaut franchise, Warhammer.
Dawn of War III opened the night, as Relic Entertainment premiered the Pre-Alpha Gameplay for the latest addition to the RTS series.

Phillippe Boulle and Brent Disbrow expanded on the footage by stating that the epic storyline will be told from the perspective of three heroes from three different factions that will all intersect at some point in time. The footage also revealed new units, a terrifying space laser and an entirely new Planet of Ice and Fire.
Full footage of the above E3 mission will be made available on Youtube on the 24th of June.
PC and Console gamers love to argue which platform rules the modern era. Even though both sides have their fair points, one aspect of PC Gaming that can not be replicated (at least not to its full extent) on Consoles is Modding. And the PC Gaming Show did not fail to highlight the endless possibilities of user-generated content and the fact that developers are very much embracing it.
Director Jesse Rapczak announced a few official mods that will be made available for Ark: Survival Evolved within the coming months. The highlight being Ark: Primal Survival, where the player can control any one of the animals/dinosaurs/insects that inhabit the huge Ark universe.

The goal would be to create a pack, survive, make babies and then guide them towards adulthood. Beyond that, it really focuses on the core idea of Ark, which is simply survival. Rapczak also revealed an entire new Biome (Redwood) and the Titanosaur, the largest dinosaur in Ark history. A beast so massive that an entire base can be built on its back.
Arguably the most exciting gameplay footage of the conference came from TaleWorlds Entertainment in the form of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. A grisly, realistic and ambitious siege was presented to the audience and giddy Host, which included a total of over 500 soldiers. Community Manager Frank Elliott added that the final version will be larger in scope and provided a variety of choices on how to approach a battle.
If that was not enough, all the tools used to develop the sequel to the 2012 Mount & Blade: Warband will be made available for modders and a system will be implemented to allow for the combination of different mods.
Boss Key Productions Premiered a new map for the previously (but not anymore) free-to-play Zero Gravity role-based FPS, Lawbreakers, with another Ice-T narrated gameplay trailer. Promenade offers a revisioning of L.A. with all the gore and swearing one could possibly hope for (honestly, it was a selling point during Plott’s interview with Director Cliff Bleszinski).
The 1st Alpha Test Weekend is scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday, with further public test periods planned.
Arma 3’s latest expansion, Apex, was not only revealed during the event BUT made available for a select group of gamers. Apex introduces a unique (and massive) jungly South Pacific map with 30 new weapons and vehicles that aim to provide different ways to explore the world. A sneak preview access that downloads the entire expansion is available for those that pre-ordered the expansion or are a part of the development branch. Otherwise, it will be released on the 11th of July 2016.
Since it is 2016, we must mention Virtual Reality. Two new games were revealed for the Oculus Rift: Superhot and a new Killing Floor entitled Incursion. Superhot has been available on Xbox One and Windows since last February, but the time manipulation FPS will be given a new outlook on life with the Oculus Rift. Incursion takes a step away from the over-the-top mayhem of the main title games to deliver a genuine horror experience.

The event closed on Warren Spector having a heart to heart with the PC Crowd about the important of the platform. Therefore, it was fitting to have the final game reveal of the night be Deus Ex Machina: Mankind Divided.

Impressing with exclusive footage of Dubai, the first level, and revealing a few additional details on the context in relation to Human Revolution, Mankind Divided was THE definite highlight. This Jensen is colder and considerably better adapted to all the augmentations his body has gone through, which is reflected in the fluidity of the game. Player choice has been given more importance this time around, with the chosen gameplay style leading to unique consequences within individual missions.
Although the PC Gaming Show dedicated most of the event to games, AMD’s CEO Lisa Su did get in a small 5 segment to showcase two new Polaris 14mm process video cards in the RX 470 and RX 460. These lightweight cousins to the $199 tagged RX 480 should deliver a decent quality gaming experience for those on a budget and can run VR (like the 480). All three cards will hit the market on the 29th of this month.
Su also introduced an Alienware VR backpack. Which is exactly what it sounds like; A complete PC in the shape of a backpack. The Zen CPU was also showcased running Doom. Specs are still cloudy on the latest AMD processor but, yes, Doom is still awesome.

]]>The post DISCOVERY CHANNEL’S BIG GIANT SWORDS: INTERVIEW WITH MICHAEL CRAUGHWELL appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>Video games are a great past time because they can offer players entertainment, storylines, relatable characters, and even inspire them to build the weapons from those video games. Michael Craughwell became a Youtube sensation when he started making life- sized video game weapon replicas, and posted videos of them on his YouTube channel.
Discovery Channel’s Big Giant Swords follows Craughwell and his crew as they create custom and original swords for clients. The show premieres tonight at 10 PM Eastern.
Craughwell grew up in Ireland and during his early days as a bachelor he lived across the country and in 2007 he met his wife.
When he is not making giant swords he likes to participate in the old- fashioned nerdism activities. While he doesn’t have the time to play video games anymore, Craughwell liked to play every second game on the Playstation one, and a quarter of the games on the Playstation 2.
Craughwell always loved making things and he discussed how he got started in making swords, as well as the first commission he ever received.
“I always liked making things but I didn’t have any tools to make metal stuff but then when I went to Art College, I all of a sudden had all this STUFF, so I started making swords. Initially there was a time where I didn’t want any payment but then people started asking me to do them for: ‘My brother or sister on such, and such a day’ and so I kept making them and making them and so for a year (in between 2004- 2006) I was just making regular sized swords,” said Craughwell.

“Then someone commissioned the Buster Sword and it was in 2007 where I really started to make the video game replicas.”
Craughwell can see his craft getting better each time he makes a weapon replica or a custom sword, and said that the stuff he made from six months ago looks like garbage to him now. However the videos are still fun and are a great way to look back and track his progress.
Craughwell walks us through the process on how long it takes to create a weapon replica.
“It depends on the design obviously and the very simple one (weapon replica) can take a week and a super complicated one can take up to two months. For all of them I start off by trying to get a picture from the game, like I’ll try to get the dimensions from the game and then the person, will specify that they want it scaled to their height, but sometimes they specify that they want it scaled to the character’s height and then I have to go find that out,” he explained.

Craughwell mentioned that he uses the picture as a template to work from.
When creating a weapon replica Craughwell shared the source of all the challenges that he faces.
“Here is the source of all the challenges. The swords are designed by a guy somewhere to look cool right? They disregard physics and they disregard some poor bastard having to try and make it real. I like that they have no relationship to history and reality. That’s great, but it sometimes means that the parts are put together in such a way that would never in a million years be like,” he said.

Craughwell then gave an example of the most challenging weapon he has built.
“The Final Fantasy 13 gun blade was over 100 parts and I spent about a week just figuring out HOW I was going to build it, because it was six to seven layers of different parts in the handle. I had to look at the in game model and then figure out how to explode it into different parts so I could build it.”
He then continued.
“You don’t realize that when you’re playing the game that sometimes it will be a relatively simple 3D model with a complex texture put on top. Then I have to squint at the thing and figure out “that’s the part of the texture what is it supposed to represent?”
Craughwell’s talent in building swords was soon discovered by the Discovery Channel and when he was approached to do the show Big Giant Swords he had researched it, and it turned out no one had done a show quite like this before. The show will be focusing on Craughwell’s original work that he does for clients, and not necessarily on video game replicas.

He also hopes that the viewers will find the show funny as it’s like a harsh physics lesson blown up against reality.
Craughwell shared the most rewarding experience in general in going through with this project.
“People like big giant swords, obviously because they send me emails about it. But in the past there weren’t enough people who wanted that and could provide that hobby to each other to turn into an actual thing. What I love about the internet is that even if something is slightly niche it will have a HUGE community because there are lots of people on the planet.”

Craughwell expressed the one thing he wished he had done differently.
“I wish I gotten on the internet sooner, like Youtube came out in 2004 and it wasn’t until 2007 that I discovered it, and it was in 2008 or 2009 I figured out the whole: “Yeah people really want these,” [replica weapons] and start to become a thing I did super regularly. I developed my skills working in welding shops you know making regular stuff,” he began.
“I wish I had gone back in time a little bit and maybe skipped two or three years of my life to get it on it quicker like start making things now because people want them. That’s the only thing I regret- I wished I started doing it sooner.”
Craughwell ended the interview by telling the story of how he got started on Youtube.
“Back in the day when I finished a sword I would take a picture of it, and then it would go and I would never see it again and that was it I would just have one or two still pictures of the finished blade. This was before everyone had a smart phone and was documenting every single thing that they did all the time. So when I made the buster sword I took a picture of it but nothing was capturing how silly it was, even when I took pictures of it with a regular sword beside it, it just looked like I put a small sword beside a regular sized one,” he reminisced.
“So a friend of mine suggested “let’s make a video I think it would be funny,” and back in the day I used to make amateur movies with my friend and then he suggested Youtube, and I didn’t know this was a thing where you could upload videos to a public forum. That was really what started my addiction to the internet- it was the fact that Youtube was interactive.”

]]>The post American Horror Story : Freak Show Premiere Episode (TV) Review appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>The opening scene was intense to say the least. Taking place in the quiet small town Jupiter, Florida, a milkman on his rounds makes a horrific discovery. Of what we aren’t sure just yet, the anticipation is wild. So far all we know is an elderly lady was found dead in her home, and something hideously scary was found in the upstairs closet. It isn’t until We see the lavishly stunning Jessica Lange stroll down the 1950’s hospital corridor that we discover that it was conjoined twins Bett and Dot, played by Sarah Paulson, that were found in the closet severely injured. This information comes to us from a loose lipped candy striper named Penny. Lange has a deep interest in these two sisters, and begins to befriend them, but we see that each sister has her own opinion of Langes’ motives, as they argue in their own twin telepathic minds. Dot appears to be more reserved and suspicious, where as Bett seems friendly and almost naive.
Third scene in and wow! We watch as a young couple after enjoying a picnic in a quiet field have a little fumble but as the young man runs to get something from his car the young lady is approached by the most terrifying clown I’ve seen since Steven Kings IT. Twisty the clown offers the young lady a bunch of flowers he has pulled from his sleeve, then as her lover returns an sees what is happening he apprehensively steps forward, only for him and his lover to be knock unconscious to by the menacing clown and his juggling batons.

As the show goes one we see Twisty a few times, and also discover Lange’s identity as the Freak show leader. We will meet Jimmy Darling (Lobster boy),and his mother Ethel, the bearded lady, played by none other than Evan Peters and Kathy Bates. Jimmy seems a very unpredictable character, and certainly a ladies man, while his mother seems very loyal to the show, and yet a bit of a schemer to help herself get ahead.
During the second half the show gets very dark, with revelations and intense prejudice against the freak show’s members. But the finale of the episode, the great performance of the freak show to just two audience members is astounding. An array of human oddities are paraded across the stage, some performing and some just their presence to be enjoyed, and then finally we see Lange take the stage and perform David Bowie’s Life On Mars. Such an epic scene that is accompanied with a montage of the freak show members. At the end of the performance the rich pair approach Lange and offer a very large sum of money to own the twins. The twins abruptly decline, claiming the freak show is now their home. As the show comes to an end the last scene is perfectly and dramatically executed, as we see Lange getting ready for bed and discover her ‘freaky’ reason she is a part of the freak show.
Previews during end credits for the rest of the season are amazing, flashes of new characters and strong words, and of course more appearances from Twisty, makes for happy viewing among the horror fans and excitement rising for the next episode.
Final Thoughts.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, it was everything I could of asked for in a first episode, let us know the direction the show is going but still kept enough mystery to keep us on the edge of our seats. The tension through the hour long show had you begging for more, and the plot unravelled at such a pace you felt you weren’t being bombarded with new characters and story lines constantly. Perfect beginning to a fantastic series. Cant wait for episode 2.

So after the revelation that the Mark of Cain has in fact turned Dean into a demon, the damned thing he is supposed to despise and kill, we were all wondering ‘where will the Winchesters go from here’?
The show starts with Sam torturing a bound female demon for information on his missing brother and demanding a way to contact Dean or Crowley, who was of course the last person we saw with him, at the end of season 9. Then we see Sam seemingly researching human possession while looking at a note saying ‘Let it go’, apparently from Dean. A phone call later ensues bringing us up to date with Castiel’s activities since the end of the previous season.
We also find out that Sam is wearing a sling due to an injury a few weeks previously that Cas was involved in. Cas’s continuous coughing leads us to believe his ‘borrowed’ grace may be running out as well. Highlights of the episode for me had to be ‘Deanmon’ wiping the blood off his dirty magazine after just brutally murdering some one, and his epic rendition of ‘I’m too sexy’ by the legendary Right Said Fred.
This episode felt like a really nice welcome to the season, but I felt may have left fans a little lacking on the action side of things. And it didn’t really introduce any major plot points of the season either, which I guess is to be expected, but still is a little disappointing. Sam and Dean haven’t actually met up with each other yet as of this episode as well and they so share no scenes together, which also doesn’t give us any indication of their chemistry for the show now Dean is playing the thing they are supposed to be hunting.
There was the introduction of a new hunter, one unfamiliar to Sam but he knew an awful lot about him. (I won’t spoil it too much ) Hannah also returns with Cas, while we have a little update on the Angels, who have almost all returned to heaven after finding Metatron’s door.
Final Thoughts.
All in all, there were some classic Supernatural funny moments, including Dean and Crowley having a very important foosball match, but again, this episode did lack setting down some intro to the main plot of the season. Interesting was new character Cole the hunter, who I mentioned above and was introduced to the end of the episode. He does say he has some connection to Dean’s past, so hopefully we will see some of the ‘old’ Dean, as well as the new here in season 10.
