Especially when that day involves 100 holes.
We have a lot of time to think.
And somewhere along the way, the game becomes about a lot more than the score on the card.
It’s about being out there.
Being able to walk the course.
Enjoying the experience with our buddies.
And knowing our bodies are capable of doing what we want them to do.
That’s what Tuesday reminded me of.
And it’s something I think we sometimes lose sight of when we talk about golf fitness.
We get caught up in swing speed.
Driving distance.
Flexibility.
And all the little things we’re trying to improve.
Those things matter.
But they’re not the ultimate goal.
The ultimate goal is to keep playing the game we love, at the level we want, for as long as possible.
Maybe that means walking 18 holes without feeling wiped out.
Maybe it’s playing back-to-back days on a golf trip.
Maybe it’s getting a few more yards off the tee.
Or maybe it’s being able to play golf with our kids and grandkids years from now.
Whatever that looks like for us, we need a body that’s prepared for it.
And that’s why we created 18STRONG+.
To give golfers a clear, practical path to regaining the athleticism they still have, but has been hiding under years behind a desk and the acceptance that this is just what happens when you get older.
If we’re serious about playing more golf and enjoying it for years to come, there’s no better time to start preparing our bodies for it.

]]>The 100-Hole Hike wasn’t the only golf on my calendar the past seven days.
Last Friday, I walked 9 holes.
Sunday afternoon, another 18.
Tuesday, of course, was the 100-Hole Hike.
And today, I have another 18 scheduled.
That’s 145 holes of golf in seven days.
Now, I’m not suggesting we should all go out and play that much golf every week – I do occasionally like to see my family:)
But here’s what I love about it.
I didn’t want the 100-Hole Hike to be something I had to spend the next week recovering from.
I wanted to be able to get back out and play.
Because isn’t that really what we’re after?
Think about the last golf trip you took.
Or that beautiful afternoon when you wished we could squeeze in another nine.
Or those days when you’d love to play 36, but our backs, knees, or energy levels have other plans.
We don’t want to become professional athletes.
We just want to be able to enjoy the game without our bodies constantly negotiating how much golf we’re allowed to play.
And that’s something we can actually train for.
Inside 18STRONG+, that’s part of what we’re doing.
Building strength, improving mobility, and developing a body that’s ready for whatever golf has in store.
Not just for our next round.
But for all the rounds still ahead of us.

]]>For the third year in a row, I took on the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike.
100 holes of golf.
All in one day.
And when I looked at the numbers afterward, even I had to laugh a little.
363 strokes.
Over 14 miles walked.
31,000 steps.
More than 2,000 calories burned.
That’s a lot of golf.
And somewhere in the middle of all those swings, steps, and trips between holes, you start to realize something.
Playing golf isn’t just about hitting the ball.
It’s about having a body that can keep up with what we ask it to do.
Because there’s a big difference between being able to play 18 holes, and being physically prepared to play all the golf we want.
That’s one of the biggest reasons we do what we do at 18STRONG.
We’re not training just to hit the ball farther or improve our scores.
We’re training so we can say YES to more golf.
More rounds.
More trips.
More days doing something we love.
And fewer times when our bodies are the reason we have to say no.
That’s exactly what we’re working toward inside 18STRONG+.
A practical approach to building the strength, mobility, endurance, and all the other stuff we need to keep enjoying this game.

PS – If you’re tired of accepting “that’s just what happens when you get older”, then please join us inside 18STRONG+.
]]>Yep.
100.
For the third year in a row, we’re taking part in the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike.
And while we’re pretty sure our feet, backs, and legs will have a few things to say about that decision the next morning, we’re excited to do it again (each guy had around 35,000 steps last year).
Because the reason behind it is worth it.
Think about how much this game has given us.
Shoot, for us it’s become a great way to make a living.
For some, it’s lifelong friendships.
For others, it’s an escape from the day-to-day grind.
For all of us, it’s something that keeps bringing us back.
And we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to discover it.
Not every kid gets that chance.
Youth on Course is working to change that by helping young golfers play for $5 or less per round.
And as an 18STRONG community, we have an opportunity to be part of that mission.
Here’s where we’d love your help.
We’re asking our community to get behind this year’s hike and help us raise money for Youth on Course.
We don’t all have to walk 100 holes.
We don’t even have to play one.
If we each chip in what we can, whether that’s $10, $25, $50, or whatever feels right, we can help create more opportunities for kids to experience this game.
We’ll take care of the walking, talking, and maaaany swings.
Together, let’s help more kids get the chance to fall in love with golf.
GET IT BACK,
Jeff
]]>We spend years trying to get better at it.
We get frustrated.
We lose balls.
We wonder why we keep coming back – damn you last great shot on 18!
And yet, some of the best memories of our lives happen on a golf course.
The friendships.
The conversations.
The competition.
The time with our kids.
The lessons in patience, perseverance, and dealing with things that don’t go our way.
That’s the stuff that stays with us.
And when we think about everything golf has given us, it’s pretty amazing how much of it has nothing to do with our index.
That’s why we’re supporting Youth on Course again this year.
Their mission goes well beyond making golf affordable.
They help young people find community, build confidence, and discover opportunities through the game.
With access to rounds for $5 or less, plus scholarships, mentorships, and other programs, they’re opening doors that might otherwise stay closed.
So next Tuesday, we’re taking on 100 holes of golf in a single day.
Not because we think that’s a particularly fun day for our legs.
But because we believe more kids deserve the opportunity to discover everything this game has to offer.
As golfers, we’ve all gotten something from this game.
Now we have an opportunity to give something back.
HELP US GET MORE KIDS PLAYING GOLF
Every contribution helps support the mission.
And we’re grateful to have this community behind us.
GET IT BACK,
Jeff
]]>For some of us, it was our dads taking us to the course.
For others, it was a friend who invited us out.
Or maybe we just picked up a club one day and something clicked.
(I really didn’t start playing until I was in my 30s.)
However it happened, somewhere along the way, we got the opportunity to experience this game.
And for many of us, golf has become a pretty important part of our lives.
But what if we never had that opportunity?
What if the cost of getting on a golf course had kept us from ever discovering the game?
That’s the reality for a lot of kids.
And it’s why, next Tuesday, we’re participating in the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike for the third year in a row.
100 holes.
One day.
A whole lot of walking.
All to help an organization that gives young golfers the opportunity to play for $5 or less.
Think about what golf has given us over the years.
The friendships.
The memories.
The challenges.
The experiences we wouldn’t trade for anything.
Now imagine helping more kids discover those same things.
As an 18STRONG community, we have a chance to help make that happen.
Let’s help the next generation fall in love with this game.
GET IT BACK,
Jeff
Here’s last year’s 18STRONG Crew:

They assume they need to BUILD something they’re missing.
More mobility.
More strength.
More flexibility.
More balance.
And yes, those things matter.
But I don’t think they’re the real starting point.
Because if you grew up playing sports…
If you were the guy who could pick up almost any game and just PLAY…
If you know what it feels like when your body reacts without you having to think about it…
That didn’t just disappear.
You didn’t suddenly stop being athletic.
You just stopped USING that athleticism the way you used to.
And over the years, it got buried.
Under more sitting.
Less movement.
Old injuries.
Work.
Kids.
Life.
Until eventually you step onto the golf course and you feel like a baby deer on ice.
You know what you WANT your body to do.
It just doesn’t do it automatically anymore.
So you start thinking.
About your turn.
Your hips.
Your takeaway.
Your positions.
Your mechanics.
And suddenly you’re trying to MANUFACTURE a movement that used to just happen.
That’s the problem we’re trying to solve.
We’re not trying to build you into an athlete.
We’re trying to bring the athlete back.
To wake up what’s already there.
So your body starts responding the way you remember.
You rotate without forcing it.
Your swing feels connected.
Speed shows up without swinging out of your shoes.
And you stop thinking so damn much about HOW to move.
You just play.
That’s Athletic Restoration.
You’ve still got it.
Let’s get it back.
– Jeff
P.S. That’s exactly what we’re doing inside 18STRONG+.
Simple, guided training designed to help golfers over 40 tap back into the athleticism that’s already there.
]]>You remember what you USED to be able to do.
You remember making a full turn without thinking about it.
You remember getting through 18 without your back tightening up.
You remember having another gear when you wanted to go after one.
Then, little by little, things change.
Not because you suddenly forgot how to play golf.
Your body changed.
Years of sitting.
Old injuries.
Less activity.
Less strength.
Less rotation.
Less speed.
Your body slowly adapted to what you asked it to do every day.
And eventually those adaptations started showing up in your golf swing.
But here’s the part I think golfers miss:
Adaptation works BOTH ways.
Your body adapted away from some of those abilities…
Which means it can adapt back toward them.
You can improve mobility.
You can rebuild strength.
You can regain speed.
You can move better.
And when you give your body more physical options, you stop asking your golf swing to work around so many limitations.
That’s what we call Athletic Restoration.
It’s not about trying to become the athlete you were at 25.
Or, trying to relive your glory days.
It’s about rebuilding as much of that athletic ability as possible NOW.
Tomorrow, I’ll give you the simplest way I know to think about where to start.
– Jeff
P.S. Knowing what needs to improve is one thing.
Having a plan to actually improve it is another.
That’s the HOW we build into 18STRONG+.
]]>| There’s a point where trying harder stops working. You practice more. You work on your takeaway. You try to rotate more. You tell yourself to “stay in the shot.” But your swing keeps finding its way back to the same place. Here’s something most golfers never consider: Your body may simply be out of options. If your hips don’t rotate like they used to… If your upper back is stiff… If you can’t comfortably load into your trail side… Your golf swing has to figure out another way to get the club back to the ball. And it will. That’s where compensations come from. Early extension. Sliding. Standing up. Losing posture. An abbreviated turn. Sometimes what looks like a swing problem is really your body solving a movement problem. And beating balls isn’t going to fix it. Tomorrow, I’ll show you why this becomes more noticeable as we get older, and why I actually think that’s good news. GET IT BACK, Jeff P.S. This is exactly why we focus so much on Athletic Restoration inside 18STRONG+. We’re not trying to turn you into a fitness model. We’re trying to give your body back the physical options your golf swing needs. |
Google it.
Want five exercises to increase rotational power?
YouTube has you covered.
Want a “golf mobility routine?”
There are probably 10,000 of them on Instagram.
We have more access to fitness information than at any point in history.
And yet golfers are still asking:
What should I actually be doing?
That’s because information isn’t the problem anymore.
The problem is turning all that information into a plan.
Because knowing a good exercise is easy.
Knowing where it belongs is harder.
How often should you do it?
How many sets?
How much weight?
How hard should it feel?
When should you add more?
When should you back off?
What should you pair it with?
What changes during golf season?
What if you only have 30 minutes?
What if you miss a week?
And maybe most importantly…
Which of the 10,000 exercises you could be doing actually deserve a spot in YOUR program?
That’s the difference between collecting exercises and actually training.
Over the last four days, we’ve talked about a lot of the WHAT:
You need more than flexibility.
Strength matters.
Power and speed matter.
Mobility matters.
And playing golf isn’t the same thing as preparing your body to play golf.
But knowing WHAT your body needs is only half the battle.
The HOW is where most people get stuck.
And that’s exactly why we built 18STRONG+.
We take the guesswork out of the process.
You don’t have to build your own program from YouTube videos.
You don’t have to wonder what workout to do today.
And you don’t have to figure out how all the pieces fit together.
We’ve already done that for you.
You just have to show up and do the work.
Because the goal was never to know more about golf fitness.
The goal is to become a stronger, faster, more capable golfer.
And that takes more than just another exercise.
It takes a plan.
GET IT BACK,
Jeff
