From Rebellion, Alien Deathstorm continues to look like a game that FPS fans won’t want to sleep on. Check out the latest.

A Deathstorm yes, but hostile aliens too

Trapped on an exo-colony that’s embroiled in a planetary Deathstorm seems like it’d be a harrowing experience. So does facing down legions of hostile beasts, while trying to survive said storm. We’re talking about upcoming first-person shooter Alien Deathstorm there, a game that’s firmly on our radar.

For those not following the game, it’s developer Rebellion‘s latest project. We first reported on it a few months back, though it’s looking even better now. In the latest look, genre fans can check out even more of the lone engineer in action.

We got a good look at the above thanks to a showing at Gamescom today, and it’s looking sharp. The levels of atmosphere are off the charts in this new trailer, as the storm is a constant threat to everything in its path. That includes shearing off sections of a building that the engineer is making his/her way through.

Then there are the aliens. Looking almost as relentless as the storm, the tidal wave of savage foes that’ve over taken the colony look to come in a few forms, all of which are sufficiently nasty.

Alien Deathstorm sees you exploring a devastated off-world colony which has been ravaged by a cataclysmic mega-storm and overrun by dangerous aliens. You will have to use your skills and firepower to discover what has happened to the colony. You knew it was going to be bad, but it’s much worse than you expected, and it’s going downhill fast. What you thought was a rescue mission has now become a furious fight for survival.

Action-horror first-person shooter Alien Deathstorm puts you in the heat of the action as an isolated Engineer faced with insurmountable odds. Dropped into a decimated human colony at the mercy of both a planetary scale storm and a seemingly endless swarm of predatory aliens. The storm is an ever-present and escalating danger. It has already wreaked unprecedented damage on the planet and proves a constant, ongoing threat to the intrepid Engineer.

Rebellion press release

So, what’d you think? For our part, we’re more impressed with Alien Deathstorm every time we see it. So far anyway, it’s looking like a title to watch, as it heads towards its Spring of 2027 release for the XBOX Series X|S, PC (via Steam and XBOX on PC), and PS5. Along with the those platforms, players can also look for Alien Deathstorm to hit Game Pass on day one, and be XBOX Cloud playable.

If you’d like to see more in the meantime, check out the official site, here.

The finale of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy is almost here. It’ll be opening early too, for those who want to check it out in IMAX.

Dune, on the biggest screen possible

The Dune series has been a standout at the cinemas since director Denis Villeneuve, Legendary Pictures, and Warner Bros. brought it back to fans in 2021. The series has proven that serious in tone, big budget sci-fi is still possible in the current market. To that point, both of the first two films did quite well at the box office. And that fact leads us into Dune: Part Three, launching this December.

Once again starring Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release on December 18th 2026. That’s in regard to the general release anyway, as the movie’s IMAX showings will kick off just a bit earlier. Just revealed is that fans will be able to catch the movie starting on December 15th in the format.

That’s just the general release though, as December 14th will bring it to “select IMAX 70MM film locations across the US and Canada”.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Villeneuve and Brian K. Vaughan, Dune: Part Three is based on the novel Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert and delivers the epic conclusion to Villeneuve’s trilogy. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, with Charlotte Rampling, with Anya Taylor-Joy, and Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem, and features newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke.

IMAX press release

Tickets are on sale right now for all IMAX showings of Dune: Part Three, including the above-mentioned early slots for those 70MM locations. Check them out here.

Shot for IMAX

While it’s pretty cool seeing any film in the massive IMAX format, Dune: Part Three should offer some extra oomph. That’s because, for the first time in the series, part of it was shot with IMAX Film Cameras. Or, maybe more accurately, several different types of IMAX cameras in general.

According to the company, both IMAX-certified digital cameras and IMAX Film Cameras were used. The latter are especially impressive, and look to provide “nearly 10x the resolution of conventional 35mm film and 3x the resolution of standard, 5-perf 65mm film cameras”.

Even more interesting, the Film Camera was cutting edge, called the IMAX Keighley Film Camera. Named after IMAX’s late Chief Quality Officer David Keighley, these cameras were developed “in close collaboration with renowned filmmakers and cinematographers”.

Legendary writer and artist Frank Miller is back at Dark Horse, and packing a new series. Not only that, but there’s also more to come.

Welcome back Frank

Anybody who’s a comics fan knows Frank Miller. Or, at the very least, anyone who’s a comics fan has heard of him. An icon in every sense, Miller set the comics world on its head back in the 80s, and hasn’t looked back, with a steady stream of hit runs. Those have taken place across multiple books from the big two, as well as more than a few indie titles.

As it would happen, some of those happened in conjunction with Dark Horse, including mega-hits like 300 and Sin City. Now in 2026, the publisher is welcoming him back, and announcing the debut of a new sci-fi title, with more to come. Before we get to the latter though, there’s Invasive Species to talk about.

Or maybe we should say ‘hint at’, since we don’t actually know a ton about this upcoming mini-series. The title just debuted at Comic Con, and looks like it’ll feature some kind of alien invasion narrative. From the preview art, we’d also wager that it skews towards the gory end of things.

While its story is still a mystery though, the creative team isn’t. The science fiction tale will welcome in artist Ryan Benjamin and colorist Alex Sinclair, among others. At the Con, Benjamin and Sinclair joined Miller, to meet with fans and dish out some signatures, as well as show off the first preview art from the book. That’s the image that you see accompanying this post.

Along with Invasive Species, Miller looks like he’ll have a full plate at his new/old home. Dark Horse hasn’t detailed anything, but says that “Miller is also working alongside Dark Horse Comics for new projects, to be announced at a later date. ” So if you’re a fan of his, stay tuned.

A sci-fi (comedy) epic 40 years in the making will be at Comic Con. Spaceballs: The New One is heading to Hall H.

Somehow, Dark Helmet has returned

The legendary comedy/spoof that is Spaceballs is on the way back to theaters. Written by Josh Gad, Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, and directed by Josh Greenbaum, Spaceballs: The New One is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23rd, 2027. That puts the sequel’s launch almost 40 years to the day from the original’s.

When it arrives, it’ll be with the original cast in tow, plus a few new faces. Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement for the film, and he’ll be joined by Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, Anthony Carrigan, George Wyner, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, and… Mel Brooks. What would it be without him?

Somehow, Dark Helmet has returned! Forty years after the events of the first Spaceballs, fifty years after the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, and one year after the events of The Devil Wears Prada 2, the galaxy is once again under threat. A threat so evil, so unstoppable, so completely lacking in any original ideas, that it has vowed to bring back the past… every last bit of it.

With Lone Starr in hiding, Queen Vespa on the throne, and the Schwartz stretched thinner than a franchise releasing TV episodes theatrically, the only hope for the galaxy is Vespa’s undisciplined son, Prince Starburst, and a mysterious Palace advisor named Destiny. Together, they must find Lone Starr, Yogurt, and any other iconic legacy characters fans are demanding before they discover the hard way that, while some threats you can fight, the reboot is not one of them.

Amazon MGM Studios press release

Spaceballs? There goes the Comic Con

Yes, Spaceballs: The New One is still a year out. But all the same, eager fans who are attending next week’s SDCC will be able to check out a special panel presentation. The details on that event are still somewhat under wraps, but it sounds like it might be quite the happening.

That’s because, according to the press release, the “cast and filmmakers” will be on hand for it. Might that mean that a good number of Spaceballs stars could be in attendance? It certainly sounds like it, and we’ve got our fingers crossed.

Fans in attendance can look for the Spaceballs panel to kick off in Hall H on Friday, July 24th, at 4:00pm.

Loading up with more co-op shooter action, is Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. The FPS is heading to Comic Con, with a panel and giveaway.

Aliens… send in the marines!

Aliens: Fireteam Elite was, as far as we can remember, the first co-op shooter set in the classic sci-fi/horror universe. Dropping in summer 2021, the game hailed from developer Cold Iron Studios, and presented an action-fest that caught the attention of more than a few players.

Now that title has spawned a series, with a sequel that’s on the way for some time later this year. It’s looking just as action packed as the original too, and is stocked with some fresh elements to boot. Among those, is the Marauder class marine.

One of the types of character that players can field in the game’s hostile locations, the Marauder is a one-man demo squad. That includes a “blast cannon” and a stock of Titan Rockets. Those should put a few dents in the bugs.

While the game’s looking sharp, it’s about to get a deeper look at its art and sound elements. That peek will come via a panel at San Diego Comic Con, taking place next week. If you’ll be attending, and you’re a fan of what Cold Iron Studios and publisher Daybreak Games are cooking up, keep scrolling down.

San Diego bound

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is coming up this year, and thanks to an appearance at San Diego Comic Con, we’re about to get that new look at the game’s design. Said look will come via a panel, which will be deep-diving into the game’s art design and music.

Composer Austin Wintory will be present for that, along with Derrick Reyes, the game’s audio director. On the artistic side, Nicholas Stohlman and Michelle Vargas will be there as well, with all of the above talking about how the visuals and sound come together to “shape player experience”.

That’s not all either, as Narrative Designer Jake Kriegman will follow the above presentation. He’ll be engaging fans in a Q&A session. So there’ll be a little bit of interaction as well for the panel, which kicks off on July 25th, at 5:15pm in the convention center’s room 6BCF.

Saturday, July 25

Crafting the Art & Sound of the Next Aliens: Fireteam Elite – 5:15PM – 6:15PM, Room: 6BCF

Austin Wintory (award-winning video game music composer), Nicholas Stohlman (art director), Michelle Vargas (senior environment artist), and Derrick Reyes (audio director) provide an exclusive look at never-before-seen concept art, environment design, and original music tracks from the upcoming Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, along with insights into how these elements shape player experience. A Q&A session moderated by Jake Kriegman (narrative designer) will follow, giving fans a chance to connect directly with the creators behind the next evolution of Aliens.

Daybreak Games press release

Before we go too, there’s a freebie that fans looking to attend should be aware of. Those who’ll be at the panel will have the chance to take home an Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 poster. Just be aware, that those will be on hand only while supplies last.

Fans of developer Remedy’s unique multiverse might want to check out the Control Resonant panel. It’s set to hit Comic Con next weekend.

Control returns, at SDCC

Control was a pretty big hit when it dropped in 2019, not to mention one of the biggest new properties to spin out of Remedy in a while. Well, sort of anyway. The game was eventually linked to the likes of Alan Wake, creating a brand new multiverse. At least, we think it was, as things have gotten a bit murkier since that reveal.

Nevertheless, the next installment of Control is incoming, and set to arrive this fall. Fans looking for the return of heroine Jesse Faden were in for a shock though, as the sequel introduces a brand new star. While Jesse looks to still be present, Control Resonant’s spotlight is on her brother, Dylan.

That’s not all either, as former setting of The Oldest House will give way to greater Manhattan. Not that this is the City that we all know, as it’s been overrun with… weird. The infection seems to play off of Dylan’s own dubious mind as well, as players enter into a world that reflects his mental state.

As for the action, it looks like that’ll be shaken up for this sequel as well. Taking control of Dylan will mean wielding a “shapeshifting melee weapon” called the Aberrant.

In CONTROL Resonant, players will explore multiple areas of Manhattan in an expansive, unfamiliar world as an invading cosmic force reshapes the environment, defiles natural law and distorts gravity, reordering reality into a geophysical nightmare. Players will traverse perception-bending locations and journey beyond the material world into a mysterious metaphysical space reflecting Dylan Faden’s troubled psyche. Tap into power that Dylan must learn to master and make choices to shape abilities that manifest and grow while exploring a deep progression system. Face ever-changing threats head-on, utilizing the environment, unleashing elemental abilities and wielding the raw force Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant.

Remedy Entertainment press release

Control Resonant is set to hit the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC on September 24th, 2026.

From NYC to SDCC

While Control Resonant takes place in the core of the Big Apple, we’ve got that panel to talk about. And as we mentioned above, that will be smack dab in the middle of the San Diego Comic Con. Hosted by Remedy Entertainment, the event looks like it’ll be fully loaded with talent.

Fans seeking the latest word/look at the game will find all of the major voice talent in attendance. Those would be actors Sean Durrie (Dylan Faden), Matthew Porretta (Dr. Darling), Frankie Kevich (Zoe De Vera), and Jesse Faden herself, Courtney Hope.

As for content, look for a deep dive into the heart of the game’s world, as well as its characters.

Remedy Entertainment press release

Officially titled CONTROL Resonant: Exclusive Updates with Cast Members, the above panel will be taking place in room 6BCF at the convention center in San Diego. Look for it to start at 6:30pm pacific time, and run for about an hour.

A third faction is joining the alternate history of 3D Realms’ Tempest Rising, with the ancient and mysterious Veti.

Tempest Rising once again

First released onto Early Access on the PC, before its full arrival in 2025, real-time strategy title Tempest Rising aims to be a throwback to the glory days of the genre. The title hails from developer Slipgate Ironworks, Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms publishing label, and Knights Peak, and presents a pretty cool alternative history.

That begins in the 60s, with the Cuban Missile Crisis. We’re sure you can see where that’s heading, but yes, it goes nuclear in this timeline. Obviously, that changes the face of the world, and in a few ways too. Fast-forwarding a few decades, it’s in a very different 1997 that Tempest Rising picks up its action.

The game in question offered the campaign that you just read about, as well as multiplayer and skirmish modes. As you can see, it also had a cool retro(ish) vibe to it, as it served up many conventions of the genre’s legacy. There was quite a bit of action, yes, but also some base-building. Given the genre as it stands in the modern age, the latter is not a given.

When it launched however, it did so with a pair of factions to field. Those were the Global Defense Forces and the Tempest Dynasty, but there was a mysterious third as well. And while this group wasn’t around for the title’s launch, they’re now official. The “ancient and enigmatic” Veti are almost here.

Nominated for Best Sim/Strategy title at The Game Awards, Tempest Rising transports you to a battle-scarred 1997 in an alternate timeline where the Cuban Missile Crisis went nuclear. From epic single-player campaigns to ranked multiplayer and skirmish mode, you’ll experience fast, hard-hitting gameplay with classic RTS base building and unique asymmetrical factions. 3D Realms press release

Those are some interesting descriptors for sure, though as of right now, we don’t have really anything other than the name to go on, as go the Veti. Fans though, won’t have to wait long to actually get some hands on time with them.

Along with the first bits of info about the Veti, 3D Realms has revealed that there’s a new demo coming. Tempest Rising‘s latest playable preview will debut at TactiCon, coming up on July 9th, 2026. The Steam event will see the Veti take center stage, as PC players “get their closest hands-on preview yet of the mysterious faction!”

CD Projekt Red’s next season of gritty action is almost here, and we’ve got a fresh Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 trailer for you to check out.

Edgerunners returns

Yep, it’s back. The second season of the landmark animated series that elevated Cyberpunk back into the spotlight is heading to a fall release. As with its inaugural season, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will air exclusively on Netflix, and if you dug what the show looked like previously, you might dig season 2 as well.

That’s because the sophomore season has been produced in “collaboration” with the animation studio TRIGGER once again. That said though, and while the locale will be the same, don’t look for it to be too familiar otherwise. CD Projekt Red says the show will present another standalone tale from Night City, with a whole new cast. That’s all kind of a given though, thanks to the themes of the property itself.

Fans can look for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2‘s tale to be directed by directed by Kai Ikarashi, who’s accompanied by character designer Ichigo Kanno. And as for the story, that’s penned by CD Projekt Red’s own Bartosz Sztybor, and Masahiko Otsuka.

Here’s that first look.

In addition to the trailer, there’s also a piece of music to talk about. That would be the tune that you heard in the video above, “You Can’t Run From Me” by Rico Nasty. The track was created exclusively for the show, and is streaming right now.

En route to Anime Expo

There’s a bit more Cyberpunk action for today, so keep reading. First up, is the first piece of artwork from this new season. That hails from Ichigo Kanno, with “Yukiko Kakita (ink and color supervision), and Yuichiroh Tozawa (composition)”. In the pic, fans can check out the cast, before they head over to the official site to have a peek at the bios for all four of them.

A minor (or major) mystery abounds with the image too, as they apparently won’t be a quartet. The website shows a fifth member of the group, but one who’s still a mystery. Could whoever it is have a link to season 1? Maybe, though we’re not sure how that’d work exactly.

Before we wrap things up for Cyberpunk fans however, there’s also a mention of Anime Expo to talk about. CD Projekt Red is heading to that event, which is scheduled for July 2nd through the 5th, 2026. The publisher will be hosting a panel there, on July 3rd, which will get much deeper into Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.

Fans in attendance will get to see “a first look at the series’ premiere episode during an exclusive screening that will not be recorded or streamed.” Talent will be included as well, with “showrunner Bartosz Sztybor, executive producer Saya Elder, and director Kai Ikarashi —as well as voice actor Nazeeh Tarsha, who portrays D in the anime. Content creator Danny Motta will host the discussion.”

So if you’re going to the show in LA, you might want to check that out.

Total War is coming to the grim darkness of the far-future. Check out the latest look at The Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer 40,000.

There is only… Total War

Revealed a while back, the Total War strategy series is about to head to the far-future. That’ll be for a deep dive into Warhammer 40,000, and a whole new era for the PC strategy series. As fans know well, previous entries in the set have played off of Games Workshop’s fantasy world, but this’ll be the first time it’s headed into the sci-fi end of the property.

That said, we haven’t seen a ton of video (or anything really) having to do with the game, science its reveal. So if you’ve been waiting, then you might want to check out the documentary that publisher Sega recently released. In that, fans will find a chat with the dev team, as they get into what it takes to bring 40k to life.

It’s not all chatting though, as this video will also pull back the curtain on a fair amount of gameplay. Still in development, the “battle gameplay” on display shows off a fight between the Orks and the Astra Militarum, on a map called Shattered Expressway.

More than that though, fans will also get a look at just how truly massive Total War: Warhammer 40,000 is shaping up to be. Yes, there are going to be unique battlefields, but those battlefields will be on a slate of worlds that are just as varied. The game doesn’t take place on just one planet.

If that sounds like this might be the biggest Total War title yet, well, we get that feeling too.

No dates yet, but a Closed Beta is coming

How’s that for impressive? We’ve seen more than a few games in The Creative Assembly’s long-running series over the years, but Total War: Warhammer 40,000 looks like a breed unto itself. If you’re a big time fan of Games Workshop’s battle-torn future, it’s definitely one to keep an eye on. And if you are in with that lot, then you might want to think about the Beta.

Mentioned in the video, there will be a Closed Beta test coming up for Total War: Warhammer 40,000 on the PC. Just when that might be though, and for how long it’ll run, we don’t know. The only info that’s available as of this writing is that it’ll take place “later this year”.

If you’re itching to take part and would like to sign-up however, that you can do right now. Head to the official site by clicking here, and once there, you can add your email address. That’ll show your interest in participating.

So basically, stay tuned. We’ll have that Beta date, as well as the launch date, for as soon as either are revealed.

Enemies will abound in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, as the latest look at the racing title showed more of the story behind the action.

Racing goes galactic

It’s tough not to look at Star Wars: Galactic Racer and think about what was one of the best-loved scenes from The Phantom Menace. Naturally, that’d be the pod-racing scene, which kicked off the prequel films with a cool new element.

From Secret Mode and developer Fuse Games, in conjunction with Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars: Galactic Racer looks like a sharp spin on that theme. We even got a glimpse of some pod-racers in the new trailer that hit last weekend. Not that it’ll be all pods though, as fans will take the helm of their own racer, and hit a series of tracks on their way to the gold. One potential issue though, are the other racers.

Rivalries will play a huge part in the upcoming game, which looks to have much more of a story to it than racers usually do. That centers on league owner Darius Pax, and a hand-picked racer called Shade. Said pod-jockey isn’t out just to win races though. Shade will be specifically looking to dethrone Kestar Bool, the current champ, who’s got a lock on the sport.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer invites elite pilots to join the Galactic League, an underground racing league born in the lawless Outer Rim, established by racing enthusiast Darius Pax. But while Pax may have founded the League, underhanded and well-connected racer Kestar Bool has become its champion, and will stop at nothing to maintain his grip on the title. With nowhere else to turn, Pax recruits Shade, a lone racer with a personal grudge against the Bool family, to enter the Galactic League and bring an end to Kestar’s reign before his corruption grows too deep to remove.

Secret Mode press release

Choose your own race

As far as play goes, Star Wars: Galactic Racer looks like it’ll give players quite a bit of choice. Fans will engage with a “runs-based campaign, and can choose which events they participate in. Which races they enter will determine “unique unlocks and new challenges”. Quitting doesn’t seem like it’ll be an option either, and a failure sounds like it’ll mean more than just starting the race again.

There’s no turning back once an event is chosen, and if a pilot crashes too many times, they wreck out of the tour and will need to regroup, rebuild and begin again. Only certain perks and unlocks earned in previous attempts are carried over to the next run. Racers will start each tour from scratch with new decisions and choices to make for another chance to take down league champion Kestar Bool.

Secret Mode press release

As for settings, Star Wars: Galactic Racer will take place across a series of worlds. The just-revealed planet of Derven Acos will apparently be the “ultimate test in the Galactic League”. What’s that mean? Well, it means that the world will offer up every condition they might’ve previously played through, while making their way through the campaign. That should serve to keep players on their toes.

It’s a good thing Hibi will be on hand. She’s the circuit’s mechanic, and will be available on Derven Acos, as well as every other planet in the game. Using her shop, Shade will be able to “fit new parts either earned or bought from Hibi herself”. Those parts will net players stat boosts and abilities, enabling a customization mechanic to play.

With all of that, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is looking like it might be a nice surprise. We’ll have any more for you as we make our way towards the game’s release this fall. Fans can look for it to hit the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC on October 6th, 2026.
