Loads (and we mean loads) of signings and a slate of panels are set to hit Comic Con this week, courtesy of publisher Dark Horse.

Dark Horse welcomes a monster list of talent

Back for more at Comic Con this week is Dark Horse. One of the biggest indie publishers in the biz, Dark Horse has been a fixture at major cons for decades, and 2026’s SDCC will be no different. That includes in terms of what we can expect from the company’s schedule, as it’s looking loaded.

That’s not really anything new either, as Dark Horse typically has a stacked event list for San Diego. This latest edition of the Con will see an impressive spread of signing opportunities for starters, taking place on all four main days of the convention.

In-booth (#2615) events will be free, and will include “FREE cards or poster prints”, while supplies last. So not only do you not have to pay for the signature, but you might not have to bring anything either. The only caveat is that some of the sessions will require a wristband to attend. Those will be issued via drawings, when the exhibit hall opens to the public.

Each day’s wristbands will only be for events on the day they’re given away too. So you won’t be able to get a wristband on Thursday for a signing on Saturday, for example. As for when the bands will be present, the booth opens at 9:30am.

That’s also when the Con cracks its doors. And with that in mind, Dark Horse points out that there could be “earlier entry at the convention’s discretion”. So if you really want to get in on one of the signings that need a band, get there early.

Scroll down to take a look at the full list.

Stop, Panel time

As mentioned, the signings are just one half of what Dark Horse has on tap. Comic Con will also see the publisher issue a full slate of panels that’ll run throughout the Con’s operating hours. Those will kick off with a fantasy tilt, on Thursday morning.

Opening things up at 10am will be Dark Horse & Dungeons & Dragons & Comics. Not just a panel, this presentation will actually include a quick and dirty game of D&D. Dark Horse says that DM Mayanna Berrin will be leading events there, with Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Amy Chu, and Becky Cloonan all taking part. And don’t worry if you’re looking for info. After the game, fans will hear about what’s coming up from the brand.

From there, Thursday’s panels roll into licensed properties. Aaron Knowles of The Oblivion Bar Podcast will chat about Masters of the Universe, Cyberpunk 2077, and more. Rounding out the day? That’d be Black Hammer, with Jeff Lemire discussing the 10th anniversary of the superhero universe.

While there aren’t a tidal wave of panels planned out from the publisher, all in all, Dark Horse will have a selection of pretty neat-sounding talks ready to roll. For example, additional days will bring panels focusing on Avatar: The Last Airbender, Usagi Yojimbo, and more.

Scroll down to check ’em out.

The PS5’s upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine is set to get an artistic exploration, thanks to an art book from Dark Horse.

Wolverine goes hardcover

By now everyone who’s interested in Insomniac’s latest superhero spectacle is likely targeting September 15th, 2026. That’s the date when Marvel’s Wolverine is exclusively heading to the PlayStation 5, for a battle against foes both mutant and technological.

The game has been a long time coming, and we mean a long time. Believe it or not, it was first announced back in 2021. Development was so lengthy that there was even online chatter that it’d been scrapped. But as fans have seen, that’s most definitely not the case. Far from it actually, as Marvel’s Wolverine finally broke loose at the most recent State of Play.

Slinging Logan into brutal action, Marvel’s Wolverine looks like it’ll be pitting players against a horde of classic X-foes. Those include villains like Omega Red and the Reavers. If you’re unfamiliar with the latter, the cyber-villains have not only been featured in Marvel comics for decades, but were also seen in the Logan movie. And, for now anyway, it seems like they’ll make up the bulk of the enemy forces that players will face.

As of today too, there’s a bit more to look forward to, especially for those who keep video game libraries. And no, we’re not referring to physical games. An art book has just been revealed by publisher Dark Horse, and it’s en route for release just after the game.

The publisher is following up on its visual Spider-Man 2 exploration with this new book, which is set to drop about a month and a half after the game.

Logan steps into the spotlight in Marvel’s Wolverine, the new action-adventure video game from Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment in collaboration with Marvel Games. Fans play as Wolverine in an original story, testing his mettle against familiar opponents like the mutant-hunting Sentinels, the vengeful Omega Red, and the shapeshifting Mystique. In his globetrotting escapades, enemies new and old will demand everything of his animalistic instincts, his healing factor, and his savage, formidable adamantium claws. In Marvel’s Wolverine: The Art of the Game, explore the making of concept art, designs, and locales from the frosted Canadian wilderness to the bustling city of Tokyo, the remote island of Madripoor, and beyond!

“Having the opportunity to be taken behind the scenes by the Marvel Games and Insomniac teams was a dream come true,” said Forbes-Calvin. “Their shared vision for Marvel’s Wolverine, the world and characters for this game is a unique and fresh twist on the faces and places that fans know and love, and I can’t wait for fans to learn more about how this was all created.”

Dark Horse press release

Promising “never-before-seen details”, Marvel’s Wolverine: The Art of the Game is set to hit stores on November 3rd, 2026. Priced in at $54.99 USD, fans can expect the title run some 208 pages, and be presented in hardcover format. Pre-orders are open now.

Beat ’em up Marvel Cosmic Invasion is coming to the printed page this summer, with a full artistic exploration from Dark Horse.

It’s a Cosmic Invasion

Are you a Marvel Comics fan? Do you love beat ’em ups? If the answer is yes to those queries, then you’re likely well versed with Marvel Cosmic Invasion. A side-scrolling beat ’em up, said title saw release last December by none other than Dotemu and Tribute Games. Yep, that’s one heck of a pedigree, and it had a focus to match. That, by the way, would be one of the biggest fan-favorite eras of the Marvel Universe.

Spotlighting a 90s flavored (mostly) adventure, the game featured a massive roster of superheroes. From Spidey to Wolverine to Iron Man, most of the heavy hitters of the decade were there. Equally as chunky was the selection of foes that would oppose said stars and included locales.

If it sounds like all of this would make the game great fodder for an artistic deep dive, you’re in good company. It’s with all of the above that in mind, that Dark Horse has revealed just such a tome.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion —The Art of the Game s coming to stores this August. The tome will serve up explorations of the game’s levels, as well as commentary from the team, and more.

In MARVEL Cosmic Invasion—The Art of the Game

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a classic arcade-inspired experience that thrusts legendary characters into intergalactic combat in iconic settings across the Marvel Universe! Now Dark Horse and Marvel Games take players behind-the-scenes of Tribute Games’s dynamic and colorful love letter to ’90s action brawlers with this comprehensive gallery of concept art, sprites, and more!

Dark Horse press release

Look for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion —The Art of the Game to be presented in a hardcover format and serve up a 120 pages. It hits stores on August 4th, 2026.

He-Man is heading back to Dark Horse Comics, even though he never left. The publisher’s new ongoing series will pick up from a miniseries.

We can hear that Filmation jingle now

As fans well know, He-Man has a pretty deep history with Dark Horse Comics. The publisher has brought a host of hardcover books to retail featuring the 80s barbarian. Not that that was all though, as there’ve also bee a monster line of miniseries’. Most of those have varied wildly from one another, taking place in different envisionings of the brand. But that’s not going to be the case for long.

Now officially coming up from Dark Horse and Mattel is an ongoing series. Entitled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, this new book actually picks up its action from the latest mini, which ended with issue #4. The title begins in the ancient past of Preternia, before rejoining the heroes and villains in the Eternia fans know.

It’ll continue the tale told in the Sword of Flaws arc, with The Battle of Snake Mountain, and hail from some MOTU vets. Tim Seeley is chief among those, with the writer being relatively fresh off of his work in Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull. He’ll be joined by artist Reilly Brown as well, whom you might know from Masters of the Universe: Phantoms of Despair. The team will be rounded out by former Spidey colorist Jim Charalampidis, and AndWorld Design on lettering.

He-Man returns, and so does Skeletor’s power sword

THE POWER SWORD, a weapon able to access the power and wisdom of Grayskull, was forged by the most powerful sorcerer in the Universe—HE-RO. It was ordained that the sword would be given to a great champion to protect the Realm in times of need.

But He-Ro grew concerned that all the power and knowledge in the universe might be too much for one man. So, he created another blade—one which could be used only if a champion became a tyrant. But an accident corrupted the alternate blade, transforming it into something evil, tainting its metal violet. He-Ro had unintentionally created THE SWORD OF FLAWS. Realizing the horror of his creation, He-Ro left Grayskull and spent years of his life crossing Eternia to find a place to hide the sword. And there, the Sword of Flaws remained safely hidden. Until now…

After the great battle at Heaven Piercer, the Sword of Flaws has fallen into Skeletor’s hands. And with this mystic power, Skeletor is a greater threat than ever before. Can He-Man and the Heroic Warriors stop him before he becomes MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE?

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #5 will be available in comic shops on March 25, 2026.

Prepare thyself adventurers and strategy fans alike, for Dark Horse’s The Heroes of Might and Magic: 30th Anniversary Retrospective.

A legend is born

It was three decades ago that the world first met Heroes of Might and Magic. A now-iconic turn-based strategy game from New World Computing, the original game would spawn a whole series of additional games, complete with a sequel/spinoff set to hit this year with Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era. Now publisher Dark Horse and Neal Hallford, one of the original title’s creators, are set to deliver a look back on where it all began.

That trip through PC gaming history will come by way of The Heroes of Might and Magic: 30th Anniversary Retrospective, a book that’ll dive behind the scenes of the first game’s development.

When New World Computing released the original Heroes of Might and Magic in 1995, players were elated to take control of bold heroes who led vast armies composed of creatures from modest peasants to fearsome dragons. In the decades that followed, the games have only become more ambitious, featuring thrilling narratives, unforgettable art, and iconic gameplay. Now, readers can learn the secrets behind the development of each main game in the definitive turn-based strategy series through never-before-seen art, documentation, and interviews with key members of the creative teams.

Dark Horse press release

Clocking in at 192 pages and presented in 9″ x 12″ hardcover format, The Heroes of Might and Magic: 30th Anniversary Retrospective is en route to stores for release this fall. Fans can look for it to hit on October 28th, in both bookstores and comics shops.

The classic and most iconic version of Tomb Raider‘s Lara Croft is back, thanks to Dark Horse and a Colossal volume 1.

Raidin’ since ’99

Yes, we know that the first Tomb Raider video game debuted in 1996, but we’re not talking about games here, we’re talking comics. And although it was 1997 when the character starred in a crossover with superhero Witchblade, it was in 1999 that her own landmark series began.

The Tomb Raider series spun out of comics imprint Top Cow, and featured a murderer’s row of talent that included Dan Jurgens, Adam Hughes, Michael Turner, Andy Park, Marc Silvestri, David Finch and others. Those creatives were only fitting though, as the book served up an all-star debut for one of the greatest video game heroines of the day, and ran for an impressive 50 issues before coming to a close.

Since then, Tomb Raider has seen several rebirths in the video game realm, but we can’t say that a comic version has stepped in to do the same. So what’s a fan to do? Well, if you remember the book fondly or are a new fan who’d like to get into it, Dark Horse Comics has an option for you.

Just revealed by the publisher, Tomb Raider Colossal Collection Vol.1 is on tap for this coming summer, and it’s absolutely stacked.

Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of history, years of experience, and dual pistols, Lara Croft will go to the ends of the earth to preserve the world’s most precious treasures from a shadowy organization intent on her destruction. Luckily Lara won’t have to go it alone as she’s joined by roguish playboy Chase Carver and her buttoned-up assistant Madeline Hovan! Join Lara and her friends as they face down unfathomable foes, betrayal, and ancient secrets.

Dark Horse press release

A hardcover book, Tomb Raider Colossal Collection Vol.1 will include a massive 888 pages of action. That shakes out be the first 34 issues of the comic… sans issue #25. We assume the exclusion of that single issue has to do with licensing, since Tomb Raider #25 features a second crossover with Witchblade. Still, that’s a ton of Tomb Raiding for one book.

Fans can expect to see it arrive in book stores on June 24th, 2025, and land in comics shops the very next day (June 25th). Pre-orders are open right now, and you can snag one via TFAW, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and local bookstores.

Limited to just 666 sets available, this gorgeous collection comes complete with a hand-numbered, letterpress printed, red belly-band.
  • In artwork, chiaroscuro is the use of strong contrast in light and dark. Few artists have mastered the technique as skillfully as Mike Mignola, whose work is as effective in black and white as it is in color. This is why we’ve partnered with the great folks at The Press Room in Austin, TX on a run of specialty crafted Hellboy Letterpress Print Sets. Letterpress printing is one of the oldest forms of relief printing. Plates are created from the artwork features a raised surface, like a stamp. Ink is then applied to the raised surface, and the paper is pressed against the surface to transfer the artwork onto the paper leaving an elegant and tactile impression of the art.

A ton of panels and signings are on tap for Dark Horse Comics fans later this month, when the publisher hits SDCC.

All this and a bit ‘o’ mystery too

The Comic Con train is more than rolling at this point, with publishers big and small revealing their schedules of events for the big show. We’ve had a bunch of them already here on BG, and Dark Horse Comics is the latest. There is a big difference between what you might’ve seen already though, and DH.

Namely, it’s that both Saturday and Sunday’s panel listings are “TBA” right now. Why that might be, we don’t know, but even without those days accounted for, there’s still an absolute pile of both autograph singings and panels to take part in. As usual, the former will be in the booth, which is #2615 on the show floor, while the panels will all be taking place in separate rooms.

Chances are that, if you have a favorite Dark Horse book or creator, there’ll be something happening. We’re talking panels and signings featuring the creative teams behind The Goon, Dragon Age, Count Crowley, Star Wars, Warcraft, and lots more.

All of the above signings will be free as well, plus Dark Horse will have free “prints, comics, or posters” at most of them. So if you don’t have something for your favorite creative to sign, you might be in luck. the only caveat is that some of them will require wristbands for entry. Scroll down to look through all of the above, and see the full details before you attend.

Also, as mentioned, stay tuned for those Saturday and Sunday panels, because Dark Horse will likely be sharing those sooner than later.

Those looking to go all in on Assassin’s Creed Shadows will have a brand new art book to grab, right alongside the game.

Guess who’s back

Yep, if you guessed it’s Dark Horse with another art tome, you’d be on the money. The publisher is no stranger to the genre, and regularly produces some of the nicest entries in what’s become a never-ending exploration of all things video game. The latest title in that line to get the full treatment, is Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The open-world action game, landing this fall, will tell the tale of a ninja called Naoe and an African samurai who was inspired by real-world historical tales, named Yasuke. Shadows will mark the first time an historical figure will be playable in an AC game, even though Yasuke’s story will obviously be fictionalized. Both warriors will find themselves embroiled in a tumultuous time in Japan’s history, one that of course seems destined to be influenced by the Templars.

Look for Dark Horse’s book to cover all of that, complete with plenty of artwork and some words from the development team. The book will be arriving in twin editions, with both basic and Deluxe coming to market.

A detailed look at the deluxe edition of the book

Uncover the secrets behind Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed® adventure in The Art of Assassin’s Creed® Shadows. Dark Horse Books, in partnership with Ubisoft, presents a new full-color art book. Set in the world of the expansive Brotherhood, this new tome aims to satisfy and inspire shinobi assassins and samurais of all generations. The art book will arrive this fall in both a standard hardcover edition and a Deluxe Edition packed with extras. It features behind-the-scenes art and commentary from the game. The Deluxe Edition will feature bonus content, including a lavish decorative slipcase and a gallery-quality lithograph print, packed inside a displayable portfolio.

Dark Horse press release

Featuring a hardcover presentation and 256 pages of artwork and commentary, The Art of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is heading to stores just a few days after the game hits on November 15th. Fans should look for the book this November the 19th at booksellers, and at comic shops the very best day, on November 20th.

Pre-orders are up right now for both the base ($49.99 USD) and Deluxe Editions ($99.99 USD).

A horror anthology minus the noggin, The Headless Horseman Halloween Annual is back once again for Halloween 2024.

Watch for exploding pumpkins

A chill will once again be in the air this October, as Dark Horse Comics is back with more Halloween-time fun and scares in The Headless Horseman Halloween Annual. Yes, the anthology of all things spooky is back once again in 2024, proving that you just can’t limit a good scare to a one-shot.

Like last year’s inaugural installment, 2024’s volume will include a collection of scary tales from big names like David Dastmalchian and Ben Stenbeck. This year’s book touts five such tales, spread out across a whopping 56 pages of freaky frights.

Similar to the first Headless Horseman horror anthology, published in 2023, the 2024 one-shot collects five stories from some of the best horror writers and artists around. David Dastmalchian (Count Crowley), Leah Kilpatrick, and Lukas Ketner (Count Crowley) all return with new stories this year. Ben Stenbeck (Koshchei in Hell) and James Asmus (Survival Street) will join the team for the first time with their fright-filled stories with Matt Smith (Hellboy in Love) and Chris Panda (TransformersPop’s Chocklit Shoppe of Horrors) contributing their haunting illustrations to the anthology as well.

Don’t miss out on the Headless Horseman Halloween Annual 2024, a 56-page horror extravaganza. It’s set to hit comic shops on October 23, 2024, but you can preorder your copy now from your local comic shop for $7.99.
