Now it’s time to ‘raise the roof’!
We’ve been fundraising for 3 years towards completing this space where we can gather all of our residents, tenants, and day participants together outdoors. And a place where we can invite the greater community in to share events, activities, and celebrations with them!
Friends, families, staff, and residents themselves have given generously to this project, paying it forward for future generations. Arrowsmith itself was born out of a community initiative. Over 50 years ago, a small group concerned with lack of housing for Seniors begun gathering support to purchase and build the facilities which started as Arrowsmith Lodge and is now Cokely Manor (assisted living apartments). Answering the need for long-term care in 2005 an additional building was placed on the site, the current Lodge, giving care to 75 residents. Expanding their support into the Oceanside community, an adult day program (ADP) now gives a day of social interaction to more than 50 Seniors weekly, also supporting their caregivers with a day of respite.
NOW, we need partners to invest in this outdoor event space, an investment that will provide community connections to this campus of care for the future.

Your donation will ensure the completion of this project and add to the resiliency of this non-profit care facility option for our community.
The beauty of non-profit health facilities is our combined efforts; support and participation from our community help us provide quality care and strong connections for our families, friends, and neighbours needing long-term care and assisted living.

In that time, our outdoor gatherings and celebrations, utilizing the parking lot or setting up around the orchard trees, have continued to show us the need is great for a safe, level, and covered area outside. In those 2 years we have raised funds to complete the first phase, a concrete platform with pathway access from both facilities, and all foundational supports in place (electrical, irrigation, post fittings etc.).
We broke ground on Tuesday, August 5th, removing the old gazebo and concrete pathways. Construction continues now on the foundation and new pathways. We are hoping to host our Grand Parade fundraiser celebration event on this new platform September 20th!

Route65.ca is a free, B.C.-specific directory that helps the public connect with available independent living, assisted living, long-term care, and home health options. The platform also offers educational tools and resources that can help people who are navigating the system.
Route65.ca is brought to you by BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) & EngAge BC, a non-profit organization and the leading voice for B.C.’s continuing care sector. Our growing membership base support more than 19,000 seniors annually in long-term care and assisted living settings and 6,500 independent living residents. Additionally, our members deliver almost 2.5 million hours of home care and home support services each year.
BCCPA & EngAge BC developed Route65.ca to address a visible gap in quality information about navigating B.C.’s seniors living, wellness, and care continuum and accessing services in the province
On September 21st 11 teams gathered to walk 2.5km to celebrate Seniors and our fundraising efforts for Arrowsmith Lodge & Cokely Manor. Oceanside’s only not-for-profit care facilities.
Walkers had been collecting pledges and fundraising to help us get started on creating an outdoor event space between our facilities, a safe and accessible place for group gatherings and community events.
We made it to 85% of our GOAL of $20,000, raising a Grand total of $ 16,469.88
