At the beginning of June, BAP was pleased to welcome Olly Ward from Sandringham School for a week’s work experience. We greatly enjoy the chance to share our experience and enthusiasm for Architecture with students considering a career in the profession.

Cladding project completion

BAP are pleased to announce the completion of our latest cladding project for a 12-storey residential building in northwest London. The works involved stripping the existing aluminium and terracotta rainscreen cladding systems back to the subframe and installing new non-combustible rainscreen cladding systems to match the appearance of the existing. The external terrace and balcony floor build-ups were also replaced, and glass balustrades were replaced with new aluminium cladding and railings. The works were carried out while the building remained fully occupied. BAP provided the Stage 4 design and undertook site inspections as the lead consultant during the cladding installation.

Congratulations to Dominic Crump, who joined our architectural team in September 2021. He was able to attend his graduation ceremony last month at the University of Liverpool and receive his BA in Architecture.

Bristol Airport

We are pleased to have supported Bristol Airport through their successful planning application, with a positive decision published last month.

BAP undertook the noise assessment and drafted the noise chapter of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). We then entered a dialogue with the local authority and their external consultants. This resulted in a recommendation for approval from the planning officers, but this was ultimately not followed by the planning committee. The airport subsequently appealed which led to a public inquiry in 2021.

BAP associate Nick Williams was the noise witness for the airport. Despite the merits of the application being contested, the Inspector’s Report supports BAP’s findings. The Inspectors concluded that BAP’s assessment was appropriate and in line with policy. They agreed with BAP’s conclusions that while there were some adverse noise effects, these were not significant in the context of EIA and formed part of the overall planning balance.

BAP has many years of experience supporting airports through the planning process. This includes producing the required detailed noise modelling, writing chapters for EIAs, and performing roles as expert witnesses.

Refurbishment completion

BAP are pleased to announce the completion of the refurbishment of a seven storey residential building in East London. The work involved stripping the existing building back to its structural frame. Externally new walls and roof coverings have been installed and internally the works included the full replacement of partitions, kitchens, bathrooms and services. Residents are now occupying the building and are reported to be very happy with their new homes.

Covid19 statement

Our office is open and our team is working both in the office and remotely.

Whilst we are now hosting meetings at our office, we can attend and host online meetings and conference calls through Microsoft Teams, or other media to suit.

Site visits and inspections are arranged subject to risk assessments and the current health screening procedures; alternatively inspections can be carried out virtually using appropriate technology.

We continue to provide the high level of service we pride ourselves on during these challenging times and aim to continue to deliver projects to the high standard and within the time frames expected.

As things continue to evolve we will keep you updated with further communications.

Welcome Diogo Pereira and Tom Deering

Despite a challenging economic outlook, we are pleased to welcome Diogo Pereira and Tom Deering who have started with us in the last few weeks as an Acoustician and Acoustic Consultant respectively. Diogo has recently graduated with Master’s degree in Applied Acoustics from Solent University. Tom brings over five years of experience in architectural and environmental acoustics developed while working at UK’s top consultancies. They are both fantastic additions to our Acoustics team and already positively contributing to our projects.
