Just A Girl From Kansas is an inspirational story about one woman's story about following her dreams.

The author writes about her abrupt decision to move to California to pursue a writing career. Along the way she faces struggles with finding a job, looking for love, weight issues, and doubts of whether she made the right decision.

I found myself relating to some of the author's issues. For instance, I also face issues with my weight and I've had doubts whenever I pursue a dream.

As the author talks about her concerns with her new life in San Francisco, I found myself feeling for her and what she went through. I loved how open and honest she was about everything.

At times, I did a little confused when she talked about Ananda Marga, a yoga and meditation group she was part of. She talks a lot about the group and how it helped her, yet it did get a bit confusing with all the terms she used. Yet, it was interesting learning about this aspect of her life.

I enjoyed the book and I think it’s helpful for anyone exploring their own dreams or starting a new journey in their life.

Brad and Julie’s perfect marriage is threatened when they decided to flip an old, Victorian mansion. While Julie wants to keep the house, Brad wants to ditch it. As they continue the restoration process, strange things begin to happen, causing tension with the couple. Will the spirits drive a wedge between them? Or will love win out?

I love paranormal stories, especially ones with ghosts. So I was eager to read The Flip based on the synopsis.

It’s definitely a spooky story with the scary elements and the drama between Julie and Brad. I liked how the author created a backstory for the ghosts Tessa and Gerald. Much like Julie and Brad, Tessa and Gerald are a couple who faced problems both on earth and in the afterlife. Gerald he loves Tessa and does everything he can for her, yet at times she doesn’t reciprocate his love.

This is the second time I’ve read a ghost book by the author and I’ve quickly become a fan of his work. The way he combines of paranormal, drama, and romance elements made The Flip a nice story. I’m looking forward to reading more of his work.

Pokergeist is a paranormal novel filled with lots of comedy and drama. In a way, it reminded me of one of those Hollywood comedies you’d see on the big screen.

The premise of the story is Telly Martin, is a lovable, down on his luck guy. He’s lost his job, now he and his girlfriend, Gretchen are living in a slimy motel. Telly tries his hand at poker to earn money, but is met with no luck. Enter the ghost of Clutch Henderson, ne of the greatest poker players to help Telly.

With Clutch’s assistance, Telly embarks on becoming a renowned poker player and winning the series championship. Along the way, hilarity and misunderstandings ensue as the two men have to learn to work together.

I loved Telly, he was an underdog character you root for. It seems like everything he does turns out wrong, plus people start to lose faith in him. As for Clutch, I liked his strong-willed character along with the humorous antics he caused throughout the book. Even though Clutch, seems like a tough guy, the glimpse into his past shows a guy, who’s suffered a lot.

The combination of the paranormal, drama, and comedy aspects created a wonderful story. I found myself laughing and sometimes getting emotional throughout the book.

My one critique would have to be the end. Even though I was happy with how everything turned out for the characters, I felt it rushed by too quickly. I would’ve liked a little more build up.

I’m sure everyone’s heard about the benefits of essential oils. Not only do they smell great, but they offer great health benefits such as helping with stress and insomnia.

Lavender is one of the oils that helps with stress and I tend to be tense at times, so I wanted to try this to see if it would help.

There are many ways you can use essential oils. One way is through a diffuser, which emits the aroma. Another way is to diffuse the oil in a little water and dab it on your skin. I used the oil on my skin since I don’t have a diffuser, although now I’m thinking of getting one.

The lavender scent is very soothing, it’s not too strong, which is great because I know a lot of times the oil scents can be overwhelming.

The oil does have a relaxing effect; I found I was much calmer after using it. It’s a great item to have not only because of its scent, but the benefits.

One of the things I dislike about my appearance is my teeth; they have kind of a yellowish color. I’ve tried whitening toothpaste along with strips. The toothpaste seemed to help a bit, but not a lot. As for the strips, I found them to be a hassle to use.

When I was offered the chance to review the Ultimate Smile Professional Teeth Whitening kit, I jumped at the chance. The kit comes with the trays for your teeth and two syringes with whitening gel. In the past, I’ve heard great things about the whitening trays so I was eager to see if everyone was correct in their reviews.

Everything’s easy to use. All you do is squirt some gel into the trays, then place the trays in your mouth for 15 minutes, letting the gel do its work. At first, the trays were a bit uncomfortable to wear, but the more I used them the more I adjusted to them. If the trays don’t fit properly, then you can always dip them in water to get them to adjust to your teeth.

After using the gel a couple of times, I’ve noticed a change in my teeth. They’re a little bit whiter. It’s not too bright, but you can definitely tell they’re lighter. I’m happy with the progress of my teeth whitening. Even though the Ultimate Smile kit may be expensive, I think it’s one of the best kits to have for teeth whitening.

Book Review: Parrish by Shannen Crane Camp

Parrish is a fun, adventurous ghost story with a dash of romance mixed in.

The main character of the story is Sadie Smith, she’s a young woman whose part of a paranormal investigation society. The group is led by Jefferson Parrish, who’s a bit of an eccentric and at times throughout the story; his behavior comes across as creepy. Sadie and Jefferson clash at times, but slowly they start to develop feelings for each other. I love how Sadie tries to get Jefferson to be normal while Jefferson encourages Sadie to be her true, weird self.

Rounding out the group is Deacon, Jefferson’s cousin, who’s not quite as weird as his cousin, but still an oddball. Brighton is the bombshell of the group. She’s got gorgeous good looks; however she suffers from anxiety and OCD, which makes her fit in well with the group.

The group is struggling with their paranormal investigations along with their everyday jobs to pay the bills. One night, they receive mysterious letters offering a hefty reward if they investigate and find a connection with four different locations. So they set off on their road trip to the locations along the way there’s plenty of humor with them staying in dingy hotels and eating fast food. There’s lots of mystery with the investigations as the groups discovers ghosts and clues pointing to their next destination.

I loved how the author wrote the ending; she did a good job of tying everything together. The paranormal and mystery aspect is what drew me into the story. But I also loved the romances brewing between Sadie and Jefferson, along with Deacon and Brighton. The author hints that there’s sequel in the works and I hope it’s true because I can’t wait to see what’s to come of the Parrish Society.

Reading Ghostsitter, took me back to the days when I read R.L. Stine. In a way, this reminded me of one of Stine’s books.

The story is about Tiffany Hart, a popular student, whose life is changed following an incident at a haunted slaughterhouse. After the incident, Tiffany is followed by three ghost children, who quickly disrupt her life. Tiffany seeks help from her friend, Justin Henderson. Unlike Tiffany, Justin is unpopular and other kids are creeped out by his ability to see ghosts. As Justin and Tiffany work together, their research uncovers an orphanage and sinister ghosts with secrets.

Overall, the story was quite enjoyable. It’s something that I think kids would enjoy; I mean who doesn’t love a good ghost story. The story offers a couple of humorous spots as the ghost kids inflict chaos on Tiffany. Due to their actions, Tiffany’s friends and family begin to think she’s gone crazy. There was a lot of suspense in the book, I was curious about what was going to happen to Tiffany and if she and Justin would learn the truth about the ghosts.

I also liked how Tiffany and Justin grew closer during their research. As Tiffany spends time with Justin, she sees him in a new light. With the ghosts disturbing her life, Tiffany starts to become an outcast and realizes how unfairly she’s treated others.

This is a wonderful book that I believe both parents and kids will love.

This is the second time I’ve reviewed a skincare product from Valentia. The first time, I used the Detoxifying Clay Mask, which I loved. This time, I tested the Eternal Youth Exfoliating Scrub.

As with all Valentia products, the exfoliating scrub is eco-friendly and made with organic ingredients. A couple of the main ingredients are green and white teas. When you open the jar, you’re immediately hit with the aroma of the teas. At first it can be a bit strong, but after a while you get used to it. The aroma is great, very soothing, which is fitting for the scrub.

The scrub helps make your skin smoother and helps protect against acne. When I use the product, I wash my face first, then apply the scrub. I left it on for about ten minutes, then washed it off.

My face felt cleaner, smoother, and fresher after using the scrub. This is another great product from Valentia. If you’re someone, who’s looking for a new product that’s eco-friendly and makes your skin feel fresh, I recommend the Eternal Youth Exfoliating Scrub.

I’m the type of person who likes to experiment with different skincare products. I tend to have oily skin with occasional bouts of acne. I’m always on the lookout for products that will make my skin feel cleaner and smoother.

I was interested in trying out this clay mask because it’s one of the many items I love to use for my face. This clay mask is one of the best skincare products I’ve used. What I love most about the mask is the aroma. Cranberry fibers is one of the ingredients and when you open the jar, you’re immediately hit with that smell.

The mask is easy to use, you just put it on your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes or until it dries. With me, it dried fairly quickly. I’d say within about 5 minutes it started to dry. As it’s drying, you can feel it sort of pull as it makes your skin firmer.

After I washed the mask off, my skin felt smooth, clean, and firmer. Overall, I loved the clay mask and I’m still using it. This is something I recommend to anyone who loves skincare products. If you're looking for something different, that's all natural and good for your skin, then give this clay mask a try.

Yet, around her—Lilith—he was nothing more than a groveling, dribbling, insecure excuse for a man. She had him wrapped around her little finger, and this suited her just fine.

Adam, not so much.

This was not what the Creator had mandated. Not what he intended when making them both. He needed Adam—level headed and trustworthy—to be in charge. However, with the ever present seduction of Lilith, this wouldn't be possible.

The sound of a single long nail clicking against a hardwood table was all that could be heard in the room. Why? Because all of the noise and commotion was in her head.

Voices, memories, flashing thoughts. Chaos! Nothing more and nothing less.

The upsurge of rampant thoughts caused her mouth to slap with thirst—suck her teeth in upheaval. Lilith’s thirst was soon to be quenched, she was certain. She’d already made the preparations. Yet, the riot that was Lilith’s unending trail of assaulting musings would probably never be quelled.

The light of night poked through the monumental stained glass windows. One ray in particular beamed across the room, perpendicular to its point of origin, then ricocheted from a mirror to shine a slender bright stream of yellow-orange light on the table. The thin beacon glowed not too far from where her hand tapped an agitated finger.

The room was enormous and regal, yet devoid of any exuberance. Filled with scarce furnishings—the mammoth hardwood table and the innumerable chairs that surrounded it. Old, decrepit paintings adorned the walls.

The air was stifling, consumed by the scent of mothballs, molded and aged wood.

How did I get here? Lilith’s thought, although in her mind, seemed to echo through the stretch of the empty room.

“Madam, your supper is ready,” squealed Lilith’s faithful attendant, though indubitably pitiful as he was, whilst walking in. The aged, wooden double doors screeched upon his opening them. Then, he closed them, without as much as a glimpse back. His skin had not seen the light of day in so long that it had lost its color. A peculiar shade of tan-gray, wrinkled and rough, was all that remained.

Throughout the years, Demetrius had become an old, dilapidated, fragile corpse of a man—feeble and haggard, yet faithful. Lilith considered that while his situation was different than hers, at least they shared the apathetic hue of their skin color, albeit not her extraordinary good looks.

“Bring it in, Demetrius. Leave it,” replied Lilith as she waved a hand in the air, with little to no regard whatsoever. Completely detached from human emotion and void of fascination. She couldn’t help herself. All her vitality had been lost eons ago.

“Yes, Madam,” responded Demetrius, then nodded his head and bowed out of the room. Seconds later he pulled in a frightened brunette, who was so dismayed that she’d lost all fight and merely shivered and sobbed uncontrollably. Demetrius, grabbed a handful of the girl’s hair and tossed her on the ground in front of Lilith. “Your supper my lady.” he said subserviently, then bowed out of the room once more.

Lilith wasted no time whatsoever and with the blink of an eye had the girl trapped, her fangs sunk into the girl’s main artery. The one located between the thighs—Lilith had long since grown tired of the neck. It was too convenient and she craved a bit of excitement, rare as it was.

Moments later, the girl’s life blood had been drained and all that remained was a naked, pale carcass.

Lilith stood to her feet uneventfully, sighed deeply, dusted her hands and then took a seat once again in her favorite chair.

With that, her mind whirled into its turbulent incongruity yet again.

Hate

Sitting on the floor in front of a crowd, My legs are crossed Indian Style, Elbows on the knees. Head bowed down and temperament apparent, My microphone will melt with what I will say.

Hate is a strong word: never to be taken lightly. There are many who do not use the word when Expressing the feelings they have for others.

I Hate the fact that there is suffering, I Hate the fact that there are immoral people. I Hate that those who do the most harm are The ones worshipping under the steeple.

I Hate how they lie to innocent parties. I Hate that they rage on another. I Hate how they do not hold themselves accountable As they break the heart of their mother.

I Hate how people turned their backs to me. I Hate that they feel they are seen as priority one. I Hate that patience to them is a waste of time Yet they look to me to jump the gun.

I Hate how people say that they are by my side, Yet their actions speak louder than their words. I Hate the fact that they lied to me that way To the point where I show them my flock of birds.

I Hate that I trust some people early: I Hate that part about myself. There should be many people walking with shirts That read "Trusting me is bad for your health."

I Hate this life that I live: I can only blame myself. I Hate that I placed myself in these situations: I Hate that I cannot see my worth and wealth.

To acknowledge that I Hate myself Tells me personally that I see more than I care to see. I need to stop hating the reflection in my mirror, If I am to change things around and about me.
