Investigators identified Haugabrook, as the suspect involved in connection with Thomas’ death and had warrants issued for his arrest. Haugabrook was located inside a home in the 4200 block of Pinedale Drive, by Bibb County Sheriff’s Gang Unit Investigators and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force at around 10:18 a.m.

Haugabrook is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charges of murder and unrelated charges of hit and run and theft by taking-motor vehicle.

Death Investigation on Cedar Ave

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred in the 1900 block of Cedar Avenue, just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies responded to a duplex on Cedar Avenue in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival deputies found a 36-year-old male later identified as Gregory William Thomas, suffering from gunshot wounds. It was reported that Thomas was attending a gathering at this location.  He was sitting on the front porch of the location and shortly after gunshots were heard. Thomas was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The next of kin has been notified.

To be eligible to attend you must be 15 to 20 years old. The student must have a copy of their valid driver’s license or learner’s license. The classes are one day each and the dates are July 8, July 10, and July 13. The course includes time on driving simulators. Class times are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Lunch will be provided each day for students at no cost. Seats are limited to 25 per class.

This course does not count towards Joshua’s law requirements, but most insurance companies do offer a discount for taking the course.

The call for assistance came into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center just after 3:00 p.m., Monday afternoon. A male was reported shot in the area. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered a 59-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the victim. He was then transported to a medical facility by ambulance. According to medical staff, the victim is listed in critical but stable condition. No one else was harmed during the incident.

After further investigation, 36-year-old Larry Christopher Baker was identified as the suspect in connection with the shooting. Deputies were able to locate the suspect at a residence within the 3400 block of Shenandoah Drive. Baker refused to exit the residence at the request of deputies.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Gang Unit prepared to execute a search warrant for the residence. At that point, Larry Baker surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody. A firearm was also recovered from the residence. Baker was transported to Investigations Headquarters. After further investigation, Larry Baker was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Larry Christopher Baker was charged with Aggravated Assault. He does not have a bond at this time.

It was reported that a masked individual wearing all dark clothing and a mask entered the store and demanded money. He attempted to climb over the store counter but the store clerk pushed him back over. During the scuffle, the clerk was shot once by the suspect. The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury. He is listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a black male.

It was reported that a masked male subject entered Family Dollar and brandished a firearm, demanding money from the store clerk and patrons. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the store on foot west near Chambers Road. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect was described as a slender black male with a height between five foot seven and six feet, weighing one hundred twenty to one hundred sixty pounds. The suspect wore a mask and black clothing.

The incident is currently under investigation.
