Decades later and the SOUND DEVICES 552 is still super clean and kicking ass! I wish they made firmware updates that allows users to plug it to the computer (I mean it does have a plug in the back) so you can edit directly from the unit.
Sound Device seems to just move on past it’s older products and don’t really offer support, but the thing is a dinosaur that is so far ahead of it’s time, that in the future, it’s still relevant.

I know this is been some time before this review has been posted, but I’d like to know if the super CMIT 2u is the same as CMIT 5U but with additional processing. Basically, are you getting the same mic tech\sound as the 5U? My understanding is, yes, but wanted to confirm.

Guys thanks a bunch for sharing this. Its invaluable for us mixers living in more remote areas, and without access to testing gear. I am still debating between getting a second CMIT or a super CMIT for my kit… but definitely your post has been yummy food for thought!!!

Hey, The only issue I had with the 4017 was not the sound but the output of the microphone itself. I had to add close to 10 db more at the lectro transmitter to get the same levels. That was a bit of a deal breaker for me as my cmit5u has been very good to me in all conditions. I have had once to change it because of the tiking from humidity. Have you noticed the level discrepancy as I have?

Thank you for that nice test of the Lectrosonics Duet system. I checked it out at the IBC show last year. How did you hadle the delay of 1.4 ms and 1,0ms on Dante? What about your boom Ops with the delay and the directorwhen he is watching in viedeo village with delay? Or it is nearly not noticable? I’m very interested in investing in that system.

Hey Chris, I guess I’m a little late to the party but I’m looking at purchasing the 4017 with C preamp to compliment/replace our mkh8060 for interior wide shots or a quick move to an exterior location. Anything you can add to your review now that you’ve had it a bit longer? I’m also curious about the RF tick you experienced with the CMIT that required a repair at the factory. Do you have any audio examples or insight into what it was? We have had some slight issues with what sounds like a loose mic diaphragm in our mkh8060 capsule and was hoping to identify it before sending it across the pond. Cheers!

To be fair to Neopax, I’ve posted Mark’s response.

Mark, I’m not a UK Blogger. I’m a US mixer who has moved to the UK recently. I have been a long time user of Neopax and have spent or approved many resources on Neopax products over the years.

I also have no affiliation with URSA. I simply feel the URSA line is a more refined product.
