Representatives from the The Presbytery of Forth Valley and Clydesdale were present in each congregation to lead and oversee the voting process.

In Bo’ness Old Kirk there voted: 71 For the Basis of Union adjustment and 1 Against the Basis of Union adjustment.

In St Andrew’s Parish Church there voted: 24 For the Basis of Union adjustment and 8 Against the Basis of Union adjustment.

Therefore as each congregation voted in the majority “For” the Basis of Union adjustment, it is declared agreed.

The Presbytery of Forth Valley and Clydesdale have set a date of 1st September 2025 when the Union will legally come into effect. 

Over the summer period the two congregations and Kirk Sessions will work together to make plans for a successful transition into the new congregation “Bo’ness Parish Church” and more details will follow as these conversations progress.

Only communicate members and adherents of the congregation, as listed on the Church electoral roll, are entitled to vote. A similar vote will take place at St Andrew’s on Sunday.

Refreshments will be served after the service.

To support this process, we’re holding an information meeting after morning worship on Sunday 1st June to which all are welcome (teas and coffees will be served). Worship starts at 10.45am.

The purpose of this meeting is to invite anyone interested to come along and hear further details and ask about the proposed union and how it will work.

This meeting is open to everyone and we especially extend this to members of the public, those associated with St Andrew’s and other Old Kirk associates. There are many in the community who are involved with the Old Kirk either directly or indirectly including through organisations who use our building – everyone is warmly invited to come and hear more about the proposal.

This is also an opportunity for anyone in the community who may be interested in renewing a past connection with the church or who may be thinking of taking up a new church connection.

We hope to see you on Sunday and to answer any questions you may have. If you can’t attend, St Andrew’s are also holding a similar meeting on Wednesday 28 May at 6pm.

For information: On 8 June 2025, under the supervision of Forth Valley and Clydesdale Presbytery, members of the Old Kirk and St Andrews will vote on the proposed union. Details of the voting process will also be available at the meeting on Sunday 1st June.

After a couple of disrupted years thanks to Covid, our annual Christmas Eve event is back at 6.30pm for children and families to countdown the final hours to the Big Day in a fun and unique way.

This has always been an extremely popular highlight of our calendar and after having to do it online for a few years, we can’t wait to welcome you all!

During the service, every child is invited to make a Christingle Orange. The orange symbolises the world while the light remembers Jesus, the light of the world.

Upon arriving, you’ll be given a bag containing everything you need to make your Christingle orange….yes including sweets!

If you’ve been before then you’ll know that we like fun and surprises but you can expect some Christmas classics, festive tunes and lots more! And most importantly, christmas jumpers, tinsel etc are very much encouraged!
