For your safe rafting in Dagali
The rafting guides from Dagali Fjellpark have just completed the Rescue 3 Europe Whitewater Rescue Technician – Pro course (WRT-Pro). This is an internationally recognized rescue qualification designed for professional river users such as raft guides and safety kayakers. The 3 day course was run on the rafting river Numedalslågen by Simon Hanson from Rescue 3 Norge. The WRT-Pro provides the guides with the necessary skills to perform rescues in whitewater river situations.

Canyoning in Nesbyen – rappel down waterfalls!
Canyoning in Nesbyen
Have you been canyoning in Uvdal? And would you like to experience another great adventure? Dagali Fjellpark has newly started with canyoning in the Rukkedøla river in Nesbyen. The route is 1.25 km long, the descent in water is 83 meters, the tour takes about 4 hours. Compared to Uvdal, the tour in Nesbyen is approximately the same length, but more water flows here.
Minimum age is 14 years. “If you have a child who is younger than 14 years, please contact us. We will asses if he or she can attend the canyoning tour.”

Mountain Cart
The ski lift at Dagali ski center has newly received a license to operate even in the summer. Thanks to this, you can come and try a new action activity – Mountain Cart tricycles. You get off the lift at the fifth pillar, and go pretty fast down the run for winter sledding. In total, there are 12 tricycles. The youngest participants can be 12 years old.

Every spring, the river Numedalslågen in Dagali, Norway, wakes up to a new rafting season. After being frozen for several months, it will soon be visited by adventurers not only from Norway, but from all over the world. The river is suitable for all. Rafting Center Dagali Fjellpark runs over 3 different sections on the river, and welcomes families, groups who want to experience a good, fun adventure, and of course those who want the Full On extreme experience.
Little Zambezi – the best spring rafting in Europe
The Zambezi is world famous in the rafting community. Many travel from around the world to Africa to experience its powerful waves. But you do not need to travel that far. Around mid June, something special takes place in the Numedalslågen in Norway. The snow has nearly all gone and the river is at its highest flow.
The rivers in Central Europe usually offer 1.5 m high waves. Such high waves are large and powerful and you really feel it when you sit in the boat. You get them right up to eye level as you are sitting in the raft.
When the Numedalslågen is at its highest, we can experience three metre high waves. The water level can be up to 300 cubic metres per second. It’s not quite the 7000 cubic metres per second of the Zambezi, but the style of the Numedalslågen in high flow is why its sometimes called the Little Zambezi. And it is the best spring rafting in Europe.

Is rafting safe?
Safety is paramount and after 10 years experience in running this river we know it very well and will know how to best cator for your group.
At Dagali Fjellpark you can choose from 3 trip types.
The Family trip is suitable for all from age 8 and up. We focus on fun and safety to make this an enjoyable memorable experience for you.
Classic rafting includes more challenging whitewater and is suitable from ages 12 and up. This trip is great fun both for first time rafters and people who have rafted before.
The Full On is our most challenging trip that runs down the biggest whitewater rapids on the river.

Is it cold?
It is a river that flows down from the mountains, so we wouldn’t call it tropical. But when the river guides compare the experience with other similar rivers, for example Sjoa, they always say that the water is not so cold as Sjoa. The Numedal gate does not start like a glacier.
In addition, we make sure to do our best for you as a customer. 6 mm thick neoprene wetsuits and 5 mm boots are included. They help you keep much warmer than the usual 3 mm wetsuits. Enjoy the best spring rafting in Europe!

Frozen waterfalls in the canyoning valley
Wondering what the canyon looks like in winter?
Have you been canyoning with Dagali Fjellpark in Norway? Then you know how beautiful all the waterfalls in Ølmøsåe, Uvdal are in the summer. But how about in the winter then? It must be a frozen realm! Wondering what the canyon looks like in winter?
Each canyoning trip is an exciting visit in the middle of the most beautiful and purest nature in the heart of Norway.
We hike with all types of adventures down the river. Some people are after a more challenging trip and want to jump into the pools from heights, over and over again. They slide the slippery stone slides several times. They even dare to look down when they rappel down the high waterfall, which not everyone wants to! Would you dare to look down?
These adventurers are incredibly proud to have experienced the full forces of nature, which constantly challenge their desire to try something new. Maybe this sounds like it’s something for you?

We also get a lot of nature lovers which canyoning is a real adrenaline rush for them too, if you are not used to swimming in mountain streams. But it entices! The water sparkles, the color and texture of the slippery rock slides tempt you to touch them and wonder how they came to be. The white yellow plums (Parnassia palustris) along the stream are somewhat reminiscent of the kings’ flowers in The Lord of the Rings. To dive into the clear water is like meditation for you, who like these adventures, loves nature.
We also love this place. Never before had we been in the canyon in the winter. Running the ski center and toboggan run takes a lot of time. But we have been dreaming about this daring piece for a long time!

News from the snow toboggan sledding in Dagali
Upgrading, new sleds and new price
Our elevator-based tobogganing has become an action-packed winter tradition in Dagali. And it is not without reason! There are fantastic views towards Hallingskarvet; the enjoyable ski lift that takes you up; reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h as you descend 1850 m back down the mountain, all this makes the groomed snow toboggan run an effortless leisure entertainment in beautiful natural surroundings.
Wondering what’s new?
We have been upgrading the toboggan run ready for this winter. If you have been with us before, you may remember that the snow toboggan run was thoroughly improved in the summer of 2013 and further developed in 2014. Then it became possible to toboggan both faster and safer. This year we have continued to work on upgrading the trail. The goal was to level out both the toboggan run and the bed under the lift in the stretch from the lower lift station all the way up to the fifth lift post.

1596 tonnes of gravel
In the autumn, we transported 1596 tonnes of gravel into several key spots on the trail to make it all a lot smoother. The bed under the lift has also been significantly upgraded in four places. As the ground did not rise all the way up, every year we had to push up to 1.3 meters of snow into these four places to even out the ascent. This was not ideal due to the futile use of the machines and fuel, and the unnecessary disturbance of the natural tranquillity that cottage owners are looking for here on Dagalifjell.
We have started with preparing
On December 9th 2021 we were able to start preparing the toboggan run. Last year it was possible to start preparing with 80 – 90 cm of snow. Due to these improvements we now expect to run the trail with 30 – 40 cm of snow. We hope to prepare so well, that you can sled from Christmas to Easter!

New ‘Snowcarts’ sleds
Last year we tested the new self-produced sleds or ‘Snowcarts’ on the snow toboggan run in Dagali. By updating the design and plastic our new fleet of toboggans are 1.5kg lighter and 6cm higher than the older yellow sleds. These improvements mean that if it snows during the day, and the groomed trail is covered with fresh snow, it will still be possible to sled quickly.

Can bioplastics, biodegradable plastics or materials from waste not be used?
We have been asked if it must be plastic that is used for the construction of sleds. Or if we can not use biodegradable plastic or materials from waste. This is well meant and we agree, but technically it is not possible. The load on the sled construction is extreme. The high speed in the turns, frequent use throughout the season, safety of our customers, all this places high demands on material strength.
But we think about the environment. Plastic is used in the best possible sustainable way, only as much material as you really need. Thicker plastic on the mowers, thinner where the construction allows it. And the plastic parts can of course be recycled.
The price of ski passes and toboggan runs
We have added NOK 5 in addition to the prices of our winter activities, both tobogganing and alpine skiing. We will collect all these five kroner, and they will be sent directly to Dagali Trail Team (Dagali ski- og løypelag).
This is how everyone who visits the snow toboggan run and the ski slopes at Dagali Fjellpark supports local development and maintenance of the adventurous 160 km long network of cross-country trails on Dagalifjell. Thank you very much!
