Brain-Parietal Lobe http://anatomycorner.com/main/2019/06/13/brain-parietal-lobe/ Thu, 13 Jun 2019 21:08:51 +0000 http://anatomycorner.com/main/?p=1760 The sheep brain shown below has the frontal and parietal lobe of the cerebrum pinned. The frontal lobe is responsible for cognitive functions such as learning and decision making. The parietal lobe is involved in how the brain processes and interprets sensory information.

The cerebellum is pinned also, it is not part of the cerebrum and is involved in balance and coordination.

Liver and Gallbladder http://anatomycorner.com/main/2019/06/09/liver-and-gallbladder/ Sun, 09 Jun 2019 14:18:30 +0000 http://anatomycorner.com/main/?p=1753 The liver is a large organ located at the top of the abdominal cavity and divided into several lobes. It is only found in vertebrates and it has several functions: detoxification, protein synthesis, and production of bile and other chemicals needed for digestion. Bile produced by the liver is stored in the gallbladder where it is released into the duodenum of the small intestine to aid in the digestion of fats. A person can live without a gallbladder, and many animals (deer, rats, elephants) do not have the organ at all.

Visible features include the olfactory lobe, optic chiasma, pituitary stalk (infundibulum), midbrain, pons, medulla oblongata and the spinal cord.   The image below shows the brain of the sheep with the dura mater removed.

Radial Notch of the Ulna http://anatomycorner.com/main/2017/10/23/radial-notch-of-the-ulna/ Mon, 23 Oct 2017 23:41:14 +0000 http://anatomycorner.com/main/?p=1720 The radial notch is found on the ULNA and articulates with the head of the radius to form a pivot joint.   It is located to the lateral side of the coronoid process.  The coronoid and olecranon process articulate with the humerus to form the hinge joint of the elbow.
