At third grade level, how in-depth does one get in describing a non-Thanksgiving? Since the A+ essays were all of 3-4 sentences, I was being deeply philosophical in my offering.

As to blaming Catholics, I have outlined my own Parochial school experience in other short stories. This includes an experience of being locked in a dark cellar when I was 6 years old as part of a “science experiment” by a nun. Is this something done in public school?

Maybe you got the C- because you wrote five sentences when you were asked to write an essay. It’s much more fun to blame those Catholics and their silly rules though, right? Right?

Ha ha! For a suburban white kid, I grew up listening to bands like Ohio Players, Tower of Power, War, and Kool & the Gang. Fire was the 2nd record I ever bought (Quadrophenia was the 1st).

This was the intro music for a detective show in the 70s but I can’t remember which one.

I love Christopher Lee’s Dracula work too. I especially like his Dracula in the Jess Franco cult picture “Count Dracula” (1969). The picture got terrible reviews but I like it as an example of European ‘B’ horror. It’s available and you should check it out if you haven’t already seen it.
As for Fu Manchu I “regret” that I loved the Sax Rohmer books and devoured them all when I was a boy in the 1960s. The Hammer films never reached what I imagined from the books, however.

Good stuff. Can’t say I saw this one, and I was an avid Creature Features kid back in the day. The first half of the moviue looks like it was shot by the National Tourist Council of Denmark.
