I’ve had the same problem when I tried to run CoolVent by clicking on the default desktop shortcut, but when I run CoolVent.exe from C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\Q0YL7EVJ.2Z6\4Q11VXL2.7AY\cool..tion_15fcb40985314d72_0004.0002_9e4d8ff274743497 everything works as expected.

Windows 10 64-bit
JRE 8u121 Windows 10 x64
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1

Workaround:
1. Delete the original shortcut.
2. Open C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\Q0YL7EVJ.2Z6\4Q11VXL2.7AY\cool..tion_15fcb40985314d72_0004.0002_9e4d8ff274743497. Replace “%username%” with your actual username.
3. Right-click on CoolVent.exe.
4. (a) “Create shortcut” and move the shortcut to the desktop, and/or (b) “Pin to start”.

Hi, just choose the one appropriate for your OS. If you use Windows 64bit select the file that says Windows x64. For a 32-bit Windows machine choose the file that says Windows x86. You also have another option, to install it online or offline, but for most people this distinction is irrelevant.

were you able to find a solution? I have the same problem. On the Java site I have no idea which file to download.

I have Java v8 r101 installed from the main java.com site. Is that different than the JRE that you linked to?

Hello, when I try the Visualize Results button, it returns are error about a missing temperatureoutput.txt file:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file ‘C:\Users\[redacted]\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\WEDM6Y61.XGE\LMHPTGPO.K2H\cool..tion_15fcb40985314d72_0004.0002_1ea15cbf1349c362\TemperatureOutput.txt’.

The steps were:
– start Coolvent
– click the Calculate inputs button
– click the Visualize results button

This occurs when running under an admin account and a user account.

after updating and fiddling (java-settings) I managed to install the program the next day. cann’t tell what exactly did the trick alas.. could be the updated win 10 defender which now provided a pop-up with an override button..
