Grist
Grist is a mobile, sculptural venue
Grist is a mobile, sculptural venue that drifts through Natimuk like it belongs—part artwork, part gathering space. Once a field bin, it’s now a shape-shifting hub for sound, light, projection, installations, and community connection.
Created by artist Dave Jones with input from local creatives and led by Tracey Skinner, Grist was made possible through support from Regional Arts Victoria and the Boost Recovery grant.
Whether glowing as a DJ booth, hosting quiet storytelling, or standing still under wide skies, Grist moves with ACT Natimuk’s events—always ready to be used, shared, and reimagined.

Natimuk Open Studios Art Trail (NOSAT)
Explore creativity at its source
Held biennially in the off-Frinj year, NOSAT invites visitors to step into the working studios of Natimuk’s thriving visual arts community. Meet the artists, see works in progress, and experience firsthand the creative process that shapes the region’s cultural identity.
More than just a trail, NOSAT is a celebration of Natimuk’s artistic talent—fostering cultural tourism, local pride, and deeper connections between creators and audiences.
Make a weekend of it Explore the studios, picnic at the Verj, cycle the Big Sky Trail, and take in the stunning backdrop of Djurite (Mt. Arapiles).
A celebration of climbing, community & creative film
Goatfest is ACT Natimuk’s annual climbing film festival, held each Easter in Natimuk near the iconic Djurite (Mt. Arapiles). Established in 2002 by climber and artist Edwin Irvine, this volunteer-run event showcases short films that celebrate the spirit of climbing and the creative energy of the community.
Highlights include the Golden Goat film award, Jury and Audience Choice prizes, and a welcoming shared meal. The evening often features guest speakers and special screenings, making Goatfest a must-attend event for climbers and creatives alike.
More than just a film festival, Goatfest is a key fundraiser for ACT Natimuk, supporting programs such as Circus Jam and the ongoing activation of the Soldiers Memorial Hall.
Launched in 2023, Friends and Community Nights are free, informal evenings that bring locals and visitors together to connect and learn about the vibrant arts scene in Natimuk. Held at the Soldiers Memorial Hall, each themed night highlights projects, artists, and initiatives supported by ACT Natimuk.
Enjoy short presentations, great conversations, and light refreshments in a welcoming environment. Whether you’re an artist, supporter, or simply curious—everyone is welcome.
The Nati Frinj Biennale is ACT Natimuk’s flagship arts event, turning the town into a living canvas every two years. Taking place over three days in late October/early November, the festival showcases bold, innovative works across performance, visual art, and site-specific installations.
From aerial spectacles and interactive theatre to walking tours and exhibitions, the Frinj offers immersive experiences for locals and visitors alike. Since 2002, it has grown into a nationally celebrated arts festival that strengthens community identity and boosts regional tourism.
Come for the art. Stay for the stories. Be part of something extraordinary.
